I arrived and was greeted by Damian and Philip, we had a chat and they explained everything clearly. I had a choice of several pitches so chose one I liked and set up tent. The pitches are bigger than most sites so you are not too close to your neighbours, I had a tent and motorcycle but could have fitted 6 tents and 6 motorcycles on my pitch. The site is perfect if you want peace and quiet, stunning sea views and super clean toilets and showers. The facility area is full of welcoming pictures, painted stones dotted around, little messages that make you smile while you are washing up. I particularly liked and used the "gents wee house", when the toilets and showers are in use it was great to walk around the back and use the semi outdoor urinal. I was pleased to see great care taken with recycling waste here too This whole campsite is very quirky and homely, it reminds me of how camping used to be, no mains electricity with only solar lights and fairy lights in the toilet and shower area. The shower rooms are immaculately clean and have been decorated with love, in fact the whole place gives you the feeling that the owners love their campsite. I was there on my motorcycle travelling solo, I needed to be alone and have time to think and that is exactly what this place gave me. I could sit at the bench and eat in total peace looking out to sea. In bed all you can hear is the sea, no noisy campers, no traffic etc. I rode back home feeling very happy and content, I will be back...
Read moreAbsolutely incredible!!!! 10/10 would recommend for anyone looking for camping in Cornwall. Dropped Anchor is situated down a short country lane, making it peaceful and surrounded by greenery. The view out to the sea is beautiful to wake up to and is a stunning Cornish view! There is a short perhaps 20/30 minute public footpath that takes you down to Rinsey Cove which is a stunning beach below a Tin Mine. You can also drive there in less than 5 minutes I imagine as there is a large spacious, national trust carpark. I found Dropped Anchor to be a great base for exploration of Porthleven, Penzance and the surrounding National Trust and Coast Paths. Debbie is a wonderful host, she is kind and welcoming. She opens up a small shop from 8am to 10am for any necessities you might need. The campsite feels so sweet and cosy and it definitely seems as if she has really put a lot of passion into making it a lovely temporary home for people. The facilities at the campsite are above and beyond my expectations. The bathrooms are modern with hot water, lighting and always very clean. I also loved the personal touches inside which made you feel like you got to know the owners a little more. Overall, the campsite is serene, quiet, well organised and has brilliant facilities - you'd be a fool to go anywhere else! I will definitely be returning this summer...
