If you don’t want to sleep because you’re scared of noises and ghosts then here’s the place to be. This is a great place for large groups of people. Definitely will accommodate groups of 15.Very rustic and gothic style. The place is not very well kept and definitely will get you looking for another place to stay but if you romanticise it a little it’s great. Don’t go there if you’re scared of ghosts 😭😭. Very large space. Booked with AirBNB which was a disappointing experience. We booked the room above us and we were double booked and given the apartment downstairs which included a large space of kitchen and dining hall and living space as well as one double bedroom and a bedroom with two single bedrooms. Very dusty and old. Definitely has creaking noises and mice running around scratching something at night, footsteps of people above us. Lovely sky windows lighting up the living space. If you want a rustic and old mansion vibes this is the place to be. Very unclear on how to get into the actual apartment as it was labelled as a fire exit and had a metal bar door which we had to pry open. But other than that a solid 3/5 would have been a 5/5 if I actually slept. The kitchen was very well stocked. Don’t touch the sugar, coffee or tea they’re definitely years old but have all utensils and the the kitchen has definitely been renovated beautifully. If you’re planning a large group bring a portable toilet because there’s only one small toilet for apartment 1. Don’t go near the windows there’s cobwebs, dead flies and probably unnamed species of spiders. Would definitely go back with a large group so I’m not crap terrified.

We stayed for two nights at this location, and our primary concern was the lack of internet access. Unfortunately, Flat 1 does not offer Wi-Fi, and there is no shampoo provided in the bathroom, as indicated in the property description. However, the area is excellent—quiet and pleasant. The kitchen is adequately equipped with necessary appliances. If internet access is not a priority, this place offers a great environment for relaxation.

Positives - large space able to accommodate our group.

Negatives- not heated pre arrival and was extremely cold. FEB 2025 Yes we knew had to bring logs for wood burners ( some logs provided) but the room sizes are massive and even with shutters closed took hours to warm up. We expected some background heating but central heating only on 6pm - 8pm. There were some electric oil radiators but a 1KW radiator in a dining room which can seat 30+ was not making any difference.

Wooden decking steps to entrance, mossy and extremely slippery. 4 or 5 steps the bottom one was step and a half and onto frozen mud. Absolutely treacherous with bags, baskets of logs etc. No handrail at all.

Not dirty but definitely tired, there were receipts and clothing tags on my floor suggesting cleaning not as thorough as would expect.

One of our group was extremely concerned about fire safety as no floor plans, fire direction escape routes and some rooms were rooms within rooms. No obvious emergency lighting. Big old house with labyrinth of corridors could be extremely confusing in event of a fire.

Didn't see Short Term Lettings licence displayed anywhere obvious so she questioned if compliant.

The term GRAND is used in marketing. The building is grand and very spacious but interior, grounds and parking...

We recently stayed at this house in Scotland for our summer vacation with a group of about 30 people, and we were extremely disappointed. The house had significantly fewer rooms and much less space than what was confirmed in our booking. As a result, some of our group members couldn’t stay in the house and had to book hotels instead.

The house had numerous issues. The kitchens were poorly equipped with many utensils not working, and there were broken heaters throughout the property. There were two rooms without windows that were extremely stuffy and seemed very improvised, making them completely unsuitable as bedrooms. Additionally, other rooms had windows that either couldn’t be opened or were very difficult to open.

The landlords were not helpful at all and didn’t provide any satisfactory solutions to the problems we encountered. Overall, our experience was far from what we expected and we would not recommend this...
