This is an excellent facility which leaves most other bunkhouses in the shade. It is especially good for groups. ||14 of us from the Lothian Sea Kayak Club arrived there on Friday 5th April, just as Storm Kathleen also arrived ! This literally blew a big hole in our kayaking plans, so it was great to have the communal spaces of the Bunkhouse to use as a group, for our alternative, land-based plans. It was also a great space for our music session on the Saturday night! ||The Bunkhouse has twin self-contained bunk rooms, each one with its own external access & lockable door. All have en-suite shower & toilet plus underfloor heating. The large kitchen & lounge area are very well equipped; there are effectively 2 complete kitchens, with 2 x full-size 4-ring cookers and full ovens and 2 microwaves. There is a full selection of pots, pans, utensils, cutlery & crockery. The lounge has 1 large dining table and 2 smaller dining tables, plus sofas and low tables. There is also a full decking area with picnic benches, for when the sun shines. There is a good-sized drying room with good hanging space and good parking on-site & nearby.||The Bunkhouse is run very efficiently by Fee, Fraser & Dave. They were super-helpful during the booking process and throughout the time we were there. They are keen to have it used by groups and their Group Booking rates are very competitive. It is definitely well-suited for this purpose.||They are also very dog-friendly!||At the end of our stay, Fee asked us if there was anything they could do to improve the facilities. None of the 14 of us could think of anything, so I think that is testament to the quality of the facilities :-)||We...

Read moreA fantastic base for exploring the area and very easy to get to Mull from Highland Basecamp. Me and my wife just had a really lovely three nights there. The beds are comfy. The bedding is lovely. The towels are large, cotton and luxurious. The shower was endlessly hot. The cookware and equipment was nice (decent pans, good non-stick frying pans and induction hob) and the setting was perfect.
The kitchen and lounge area is all set up to encourage geniality, conversation and interaction with other guests and is therefore friendly and welcoming. During our three nights we met and chatted with a Dutch documentary maker, two marine biologists, a Caledonian Macbrayne ferry worker, a retired environmental agricultural manager, a solo cyclist, an outdoor pursuits specialist and a good number of cheery divers, not to mention Fraser and Dave (sorry, can’t remember the lassy’s name) who own the place and who are very approachable and engaging.
Overall I therefore heartily recommend Highland...
