Mansefield House — Hotel in Great Britain

We love this house!! We rented Mansefield House and Campbell Cottage for a family reunion earlier this month and absolutely loved it. We had a large group (22 of us), so we're used to bunking up when we all get together, but with both houses we were all very comfortable (and it's just a short walk between the two). The rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated and well furnished. The bus stop is just 10 minute's walk down the road and made travelling to/from Glasgow (and to the Highlands beyond) simple and stress-free. We spent a lot of time relaxing at the house, cosy-ed up in front of the fire, but it was dead easy to walk to the surrounding hills or the pub next door for those who wanted some activity.

The hosts, Ali and Fiona, were amenable, charming, and generous - they had plenty of suggestions of things to do nearby, and the Mansfield Studio just behind the house was the perfect souvenir spot for our international family members to find gorgeous handmade keepsakes. Mansefield House is situated in a truly stunning location. The house has a lovely old victorian feel to it and has a lot of character. Our group especially loved the games room and the kitchen - great places to socialise. And a wonderful garden! Although the weather wasn't great when we were staying sadly.

I hate to write this, as we had such a nice time, but the one thing that lets the property down is the damp in certain rooms. Sadly one of my group had to leave a day early as it triggered their asthma condition quite severely. I really really hope this is something the owners can rectify, as it has been mentioned in past reviews, and I would love to come back.

Great location with picturesque views, but a few issues with the property itself would lead to not recommending it to others. It is old, smelly, and dirty. Can tell it has not been renovated for a long time, not been cleaned thoroughly (pet hairs downstairs) and many cobwebs on walls. The water pressure is extremely poor in all bathrooms. Very small bed sizes which are not big enough for two adults despite that being what was advertised. We also requested wood for the fireplace and did not receive a response from the owner when asked.
