We stayed in Miss Ellie for a birthday weekend. The static narrow boat was certainly different! It's a working farm with areas dedicated for glamping.
Inside: It was lovely inside with all of the things you need for a self-catered stay. Two double rooms with storage space under the bed and a room with a bunk bed which was quite spacious. Two toilets which is handy. Shower room is tiny but has everything you need. Just need to be creative of where you put things! All towels were provided along with a robe. Greatful as used this for the hot tub. Kitchen was equipped with all utensils, pans, cutlery, crockery, mugs and glasses. A complimentary box of biscuits and marshmallows was a nice touch. Tea, coffee and sugar provided. Small under counter fridge/freezer provided which was ample. Seating area was good and a slim camping table provided the table for evening meals. TV if you wanted entertainment. WiFi signal was very good.
Outside: Weather was quite windy for April and the farm has a wind farm. Good to see sustainability in this way. Sheep on the farm in surrounding fields which was nice. Lovely seating areas for either the fire pit, BBQ area, seating on the deck and a brilliant hot tub. The hot tub was lit for us and ready to use. If was superb to be in the warm water just looking out across the fields and seeing the coastline in the distance....bliss. A fun, relaxing weekend.
We tried Carnabys Cafe for lunch. Also The Potted Lobster in Bamburgh. Food was excellent at both places.
Communication with Jane was excellent and any questions were answered promptly. Especially greatful for the help on the last day when a friends car wouldn't start. I phoned Jane and her husband arrived with jump leads which helped power the battery. Thank you.
Would recommend a stay here if you are looking for rest...
Read moreAmazing place to stay. Loved it from start to finish during a 4 night stay. 2 adults and a 5 year old were welcomed by a very homely feeling rather spacious caravan. Immaculate inside. Nice cosy rooms and well laid out kitchen/living room and wetloor shower/toilet. It has everything you need. Nice touches provided like towels & hooded towel for hot tub as well as essentials such as hand-wash, washing up liquid, toilet roll, kitchen roll and hair dryer provided as well complementary short bread, Marsh mallows and long cocktail sticks. The WIFI works very well too. We paid for firewood for the fire pit and solid fuel hot tub and the wood and briquettes for the hot tub were provided and hot tub was filled and lit for us on arrival upon request. It's such a rural location and so relaxing. Having the fire pit, hot tub and bbq in your rather large garden space is such a tranquil experience. Bliss. Being positioned on the top of a hill near large wind turbines it can be rather windy. But everything else more than makes up for this. A good base for nearby Bamburgh and Alnwick. Bamburgh beach and Castle are well worth a visit as well as Alnwick Castle, Alnwick Gardens and Lilidorei. Seahouses is good for places to eat out...
