Stayed at one of the Glamping Pods on site with my partner and could not have been any more impressed at what it had to offer.||STAFF SERVICE / RECEPTION SHOP /CHECK IN|| Upon arriving at the site we had realised that the reception was closed but handily there is a yellow telephone right by the door we were able to use to let the staff know we were there. After a very short wait we were greeted with a warm welcome into the reception for our keys and a site map -for simple directions to various facilities around the site (ie. Shower block, games room, pods, pitches etc) as well as a host of information such as places for takewaways, taxi services, places to visit and so on all neatly organised together in a menu-sized folder case perfect for potential York newcomers. In said reception there is a very well stocked shop with all sorts of essentials for a traditional camping stay milk, bread, tea, coffee, sugar very convenient to save trips to york to top things up. Oh and we also loved to visit the tortoise just outside the reception in the enclosure when walking past :) ||NEARBY TRAVEL||JUST A QUICK HEADS UP: the walk to the bus stop is only 15 minutes but you mainly are walking by a road on a grass verge- so it can be a bit of a trek with luggage :) no fault of the site or owners or anything just thought it’d be useful to know. You can get tickets into york for cheap but there is also ‘Getaway Cars’ taxis available for pick up at the site gate for a fixed fair of £12. We used this service and opted to be dropped off at the Minster only for our driver to take us a couple paces away :)) we were really happy with this and the driver was very nice and polite. ||ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION||As far as the location of the pod it was incredibly peaceful and had the perfect natural, relaxing ambience for a true breath-of-fresh air-getaway- especially with fair weather during our stay we were able to sit on the porch deck chairs and table for a nice breakfast :) there is also a fold out camping table that you can find slid underneath the main sofa/drop down bed which was very handy as well as placemats and coasters situated in a cubby above the TV. This was perfect for setting up a cozy evening meal and very easy to set up/ clean if needs be.||POD EQUIPMENT/ CONVENIENCES FACILITIES / ||Inside the pod itself is everything you’d ever need for your stay; hob/cooker ; extractor fan with light; plenty of crockery, utensils (stirring spoons sharp knife tin opener etc), cutlery and so on, small fridge; toaster; microwave; kettle. Other things around the pod include: TV with dvd player, charging wire ports, shaving sockets in the bathroom, heated towel rail ( on of our personal favourite features) and shower with both smaller shower head and overhead rain-style shower which can be easily switch between by twisting the left-most end and heat can be adjusted with the right. ( there’s also an extractor fan that turns on with the bathroom light for those who enjoy a steaming hot shower) it was also nice to have a bath mat inside the shower to avoid any slipping. Even though we didn’t make use of some of the other useful on-site facilities but if you would require them you’d have no problem with extra showers, washer/dryer, ironing board etc.||THE BED||When I saw that the bed was a drop down I will admit I was initially a little concerned about the comfort for me and my partner who do enjoy a good quality sleep (who doesn’t). I myself have spent lots of time sleeping in Caravans and camp beds and the sorts so it wasn’t as much of a concern about me but I wanted my partner to be comfortable. WHEN I TELL YOU WE SLEPT AMAZINGLY - the bed was VERY comfortable way more than I was expecting and all my concerns drifted away as fast as we fell asleep.|||I understand that with only my partner and I staying in the pod that is a 4 berth that we will naturally have more room to move and stretch our legs per-say with no issues however I am certain that with how well equipped the pod was that it could accommodate a family of four just as comfortably as our party of two. ||‘ISSUES’ (very minor)||There are only 2 very small “issues” we encountered with the pod. The first being that there is a hair dryer in a black drawstring back in the cupboard to the right of the drop down bed but something to be aware of is that at the highest airflow setting the hairdryer seemed to crunch and struggle so would recommend only using the middle setting. |The second is that the kitchen tap didn’t seem to get any hot water running through? Perhaps this was our mistake of not letting it run for long enough but we made do just fine either way by boiling the kettle for some hot water to wash up with so it was only a minor thing. ||CONCLUSION ||Overall, I cannot overstate just how high quality our stay was, my partner and I were incredibly pleased and were glad our money was well spent on such a gorgeous place. Definitely worth the price.||Would absolutely come back here in the future and I’m sure we’d have another great stay if we did :)||Thank you for being so...

The staff at Nurseries are great. Warm welcome from reception upon arrival, explanation of where our pitch was, details of the site etc from a really friendly lady. Reception is also a small, basic shop which is open whilst reception is.
Behind reception is a welcoming games room with a pool table, table tennis table and some machines plus a sofa. Unfortunately you do need to get table tennis balls from reception so if they are closed you cant use it. Really nice area and good for keeping the teenagers happy I should imagine.
Access to pitches is a bit of a nightmare, depending which pitch you have, for hours we had to spin the whole unit all the way around, drive onto the grass and then reverse a very angled dog leg to get onto the pitch. It would be nice to see a bit more thought put into the pitch layout, especially in terms of access. Pitches are (very) hardstanding and you'll need good quality pegs for any awning. There are a lot of overhanging trees too which means leaves and sap dripping onto awnings in many of the pitches. The pitches themselves are a decent size on the hardstanding but with only a tiny patch of grass between each, making them appear very close to each other even though there is sufficient room between the units themselves
EHU and Water Points are all nearby and easy to access. A bit of a walk onto the woodland trail for the chemical disposal and waste water but easy enough to access so no issues there
The facilities block is just a short walk away, though it is down a woodland trail with bark chippings, so make sure you have suitable footwear. There are 3 showers, 3 loos and 3 sinks in each of the Mens and Ladies, plus an accessible loo/ babychange. The block is heated and was kept clean throughout. Hot water from the mens sinks was non-existent. You press a button on the tap and get 4 seconds of a dribble of lukewarm water. It wasn't possible for me to get a wet shave so I'm pleased I took my electric razer.
Showers are a reasonable size with a shower curtain separating the wet area from a tiny dry area. No temperature or flow controls on the showers, just press the button for 9 seconds of water then press again. The water was too hot for me, varying from 'too hot' to 'skin strippingly hot'. My partner, who has her showers at ridiculously hot levels said it was too hot for her too. The water is slow to drain out so you do have to stand for a couple of minutes in the soapy water to wait for it to disappear. Due to the backlog of water the 'dry' area isnt! You do get a long handled squeegee in each cubicle so it is best to wait a while and then squeegee water away from the dry area. There is also a small fold down stool
In the facilities block there is also a washing up room with 2 sinks plus coin operated washer and dryer. Unfortunately only 1 plug between the 2 sinks and not connected to a chain so it is very difficult to get out when you've finished. If you have a washing up bowl of your own this isnt a problem, and I usually take a portable plug with me in any case. Loads of hot water so washing up is fairly pleasant
Outside the facilities block is a small playground for the kids, and on site there is also a football pitch
There is a small amount of traffic noise from the main road but it isnt intrusive, and quite a bit of air traffic too but again it isnt too intrusive.
All of the above, whilst worth noting is pretty minor. In general the site is extremely pleasant, with lovely staff. On an evening it is quiet, other guests all seemed friendly and well behaved. There are a couple of other fields around the touring field for seasonal pitches and speaking with some of the residents there, they all love the site and speak highly of the owners, which is always great to hear
There are several species of birds around the site, squirrels running around and overall a peaceful, woodsy feel to the place....
Read moreNice caravan site, pitches are well laid out with a reasonable amount of space between. Lots of taps well placed around site. Plenty for kids to do in designated areas, where the won't annoy other people too much. There is a really good games room near reception, with air hockey, an arcade machine and table tennis.
Location is great for getting into York, bus is around 15 minute walk away, but we found the timetable to be unreliable, on 2 visits into York, 1 bus didn't show up at all, the other was 20 minutes late- not great when the bus is only once per hour (not the fault of the site, obviously!)
The only gripe I had was the showers have those buttons you have to keep pressing, which allow about 9 seconds of water to come out, but the drains don't get rid of water if you hold the button down, so you end up trying to get dry standing in a pool of water.
We really enjoyed our stay, was happy to have the 11pm noise curfew, which guaranteed...
