Plas Dinas was the very first venue we enquired about after getting engaged, and it completely wowed us from the start. The location perfectly combines easy access with a feeling of total seclusion amidst nature. The picturesque drive up, past beautifully maintained gardens bursting with blooms, builds anticipation as you arrive at the powder-pink historic estate. It is elegant, timeless, and full of regal charm.
From the very first conversation, Annie was warm, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. Her eye for detail and effortless grace made us fall in love with the venue instantly. She sold us the dream wedding, one that felt straight out of an Audrey Hepburn movie. We knew right away that this was where we had to celebrate our day.
We chose the Decadent Package as we wanted a day overflowing with beautiful food and drink, weāre both passionate about fine dining and had heard nothing but glowing praise for The Gunroom Restaurant.
In the lead-up to the wedding, Annie was always quick to respond to our texts and emails, making every part of planning feel effortless. Although we had initially envisioned an outdoor garden ceremony, the weather had other plans, but Annie and her team seamlessly reimagined everything when the rain came. Looking back, Iām actually grateful for the downpour; it gave us the chance to truly embrace every inch of the country house and experience it as our own for the day. Our guests were in awe as they escaped the storm into the cosy, welcoming embrace of this traditional Welsh manor.
We had always dreamed of a wedding with an Old Hollywood feel, and Annie and her team exceeded every expectation.
For me, the celebration began the night before, when I arrived with my mum and bridesmaids. Each room was decorated to the highest standard, full of character and charm (and with the comfiest beds for a perfect nightās sleep before the big day). We were treated to a delicious breakfast platter and a glass of Buckās Fizz to start the festivities. The atmosphere was relaxed and joyful thanks to the attentive staff, who made us feel completely at home as our guests began to arrive.
The ceremony itself was magical, we had hired a string quartet, and the music drifted through the house as guests took their seats. After we exchanged our vows, we were greeted with an array of drinks, including prosecco, French martinis, and elderflower fizz. Meanwhile, the Plas Dinas team worked flawlessly behind the scenes, transforming the ceremony room into our wedding banquet hall during the drinks reception without anyone even noticing.
As canapĆ©s floated around the room, laughter filled the air. When we stepped into the candlelit dining room, I was moved to tears all over again. It was breathtaking. Annieās romantic touch and attention to detail shone through in every element, creating an atmosphere of pure elegance. The fine dining experience was exquisite, and the service impeccable, our glasses were never empty, and every member of staff greeted us with a beaming smile.
Daniel, as toastmaster, was brilliant in keeping everything running smoothly, guiding guests effortlessly through speeches and the first dance. Later, the team once again transformed the space ā this time turning the cosy Gunroom lounge into a stylish private club for our DJ set. Our guests made full use of the beautifully stocked bar and danced the night away.
As the evening came to a close, everyone retired to their luxurious suites, excited to gather again the next morning for a hearty breakfast.
A massive thank you to Annie, Daniel, and the entire Plas Dinas family for creating the most magical day imaginable. We cannot wait to return for every anniversary and relive the memories in the place where our forever began.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhere to start with Plas Dinas? It was spectacular and blew away our expectations. Daniel was a lovely host. From greeting us the moment we walked in, chatting with us throughout our stay. Even offering advice for our adventures. You can tell Daniel and Annie care deeply for Plas Dinas and put in hard, dedicated work into running it. Speaking of hard work and dedication, all the staff we interacted with were just splendid. They helped us and others with anything that was needed. They were all truly exceptional.
Plas Dinas itself was gorgeous, it's age and history added so much to the experience. We stayed in the Judges room, as pictured below. The room was spotless and filled with pretty much anything you'd want/expect at a bed and breakfast. In addition, they stock the room with high-quality filtered water, coffee and tea, cookies, fudge, and complimentary Brandy(?). While the bathroom is a bit tight for me at 6'2, the craftsmanship put into its remodel shows big time. Just look at that tile work. Speaking of craftsmanship, the wainscoting, wallpaper, and decor were stunning. How about that woodwork? Wow. The WiFi is a bit spotty in this room, so it is not ideal if you have business to attend to. However, if you're looking to relax and disconnect, this is perfect. Much like most of the UK, the windows don't have bug screens, and there is no air conditioning. So, any Americans, Canadians, Australians, et cetera don't expect this when coming here. However, the weather here is rather mild, with cool nights. With the window open and the fan running, it was a pleasent night's sleep on the comfortable half-tester bed.
The location is rural and quiet, with a beautiful garden and lush landscape. They have a great lookout point to watch the sunset, and if you're lucky, you may get to make some animal friends (see pics). While it is rural, it's not far from town. Just a short drive/taxi ride away. If you prefer public transit, that's no problem either. With a bus stop just a short 5-10 minute stroll away. If you're planning to explore Snowdonia, it's just a short 20 minutes drive away (50 minutes or so on transit).
When you stay here, the breakfast and dinner are a MUST. For breakfast, they offer a variety of choices every day. Each choice is just as delicious as the last. The dinner, though. It is out of this world! It's a multi-course meal where you choose the courses. It includes drinks, pre-meal food, appetizer, main course, and dessert. Again, each dish is as astounding as the last. While their main menu offers many different options for those with no specific diet, they are more than willing to accommodate specific diets. We're both vegan, and they still had multiple options for us. All of which was mindblowing. You can not go wrong staying here, especially for a...
Ā Ā Ā Read more1st impression fantastic the staff are excellent but Owners seem to lack communication skills booked a evening meal for anniversary and a afternoon cream tea for the next day but even though on paper work the Owner denied all knowledge of the afternoon tea and said they wasn't doing tea's that day, Though they did say later we could have one but I told my wife I wasn't prepared to give them another penny and it was just a after thought. The room we had though looked amazing every time you flush the toilet it sounded like a drill drilling through the wall into the bedroom the light above the bath kept flashing on and off the shower had so much air in the pipes the sound was awful The cold tap was loose on the sink The food was above adequate the sea bass was awful. On the last day at breakfast I was served a dirty tea cup. When we go to a place the star's represent the standards the time we spent didn't meet the 5 star rating. How it got 5 stars I will never know Definitely way over priced will not go again spoiled our 30th wedding anniversary. I do have to say after the rude attitude of the owner we did get a 20% discount.
To the reply you sent, I am sorry to hear about your daughter as I have been seriously ill for 12 years 3 times coming close to losing my life I wouldn't want this on anyone let alone any child. I don't like to complain I know how difficult it can be running a business but online it says you own it but your husband who told my wife he didn't own it, and he did upset my wife. I am someone who prefers honesty and if forewarned about the toilet I would have understood. I have amended some of my comments but I can't award you 5 stars and we won't be...
