We needed somewhere to stop for a few hours as my wife was unwell. We found this place and had no option but to pay £162.50 for a few hours. We weren't even staying overnight. That was our choice and we paid, but I didn't expect to be so disappointed. For that price we were expected something clean and comfortable but that's not what we got. The room was apparently one of only a few available but......
It hadn't been cleaned properly - there were crumbs and even cobwebs and dead flies under one of the chairs. I've saved the photo for my complaint to them. Even I could hoover better than these lot. What else haven't they cleaned properly?
I got picky and found a solid layer of dust along the skirting boards too. It's probably human skin and bacteria, and lovely stuff like that. That's right, for £162.50, they don't even clean your room.
There was hardly any toilet paper so I had to request more. That's right, for £162.50 they don't give you sufficient toilet paper.
You don't get a fridge. That's right, for £162.50 you don't even get a fridge.
There was only one comfy chair in the room. That's right, just one comfy chair between 2 people for £162.50.
The reception wasn't manned when I went down earlier. Fair enough, she's human but it's not a good look is it?
You have to ask for an iron. That's right, for £162.50 a night you have to ask for an iron.
I could have had a bath whilst I was there but didn't trust it had been cleaned.
This would all be absolutely fine for a budget hotel, but not for £162.50 a night. I expect more than this. I feel like I've been well and truly ripped off, and to top it all the room will be available for some other mugs tonight when we've vacated. Never again. Premier Inn don't deserve my custom. Good luck to the Canadian guy I met in reception who was clever enough to book in somewhere else.
I spoke to the manager Ieva and her colleague Debbie about this and explained the difference between Premier Inn barely fulfilling their contractual obligation, and actual customer service. Premier Inn do not care about their customers, just their money. There is no debating this, it's plain to see. I'm glad we only stayed for...
Read moreIt's "Fine". Unfortunately if you need to guarantee you can have a room and book in advance, it's well over £100, at which point "Fine" is no longer satisfactory. Knowing how quiet it was on a bank holiday, I think I would chance booking last minute for a hefty discount however (I can see rooms for tomorrow are barely £40, which I would feel is much more reflective)
Staff kindly and helpfully welcome guests, and are helpful but unfortunately that's about the highlight. The onsite food is again prepared by a friendly chef who was keen to make any special arrangements but at the end of the day, the food was very much nothing special.
The rooms are incredibly tired, to the point they would probably feel dirty immediately after a deep clean, but the bed was comfortable. There's no Aircon, but there was an electric fan in my room. Shower curtain had somewhat mouldy looking marks in, but the water pressure was good and water got very hot if you wanted it to. My room also had a faint smokey smell almost like someone had smoked in it a while ago and it was still fading.
The beds had no plug sockets near them, which after having plugs, usb and sometimes wireless charging for every hotel in the last 15 years I've stayed in, was quite a surprise!
As a solo female traveller they followed the premier Inn policies on this, my room was on the first floor away from others and my room number was not said out loud to me in the lobby during check-in. Probably overkill but you never know so it's appreciated when hotels note your circumstance!
All in all it's not fabulous, the staff know it but have a wonderful attitude. It's an option for a stop off on a long drive, but don't book full price, chance it and leave it to be cheap the day before (and if it isn't, find...
Read moreMyself and a friend stayed for one night to attend a nearby event. The twin room was basic but had everything required, the beds were very comfortable, good water pressure in the shower, and convenient to be able to mirror to the Samsung TV from a Samsung phone to watch some YouTube instead of generic Freeview channels. The hotel itself is on the edges of an industrial/retail park area but our room was towards the back and very quiet. It's not a luxury hotel and the decor is tired, but I'm not one to really care for aesthetics as long as the rooms are clean and the bathroom facilities work. Also a special shout out to Geoff who was super-welcoming and has a great sense of humour when it came to discussing musical tastes! Couldn't have asked for a more pleasant welcome! The only downsides were: the lack of air con/ventilation in a room that was very humid (albeit the electric fan in there was very welcome!); the free WiFi being very patchy and slow; the bathroom fan being very weak - I tend to have lukewarm showers but even with a short 5 minute shower on a cool temperature the bathroom steamed up quickly and took ages to cool down/the steam to dissipate. And the signage for the turning into the grounds could be better/made more visible from both directions - the hotel is just off the roundabout and with the entrance being quite small we did miss it initially, so had to drive down the road and come back on ourselves to finally turn in. But overall perfectly fit for purpose...
