Rooms @ The Royal — Hotel in Great Britain

Firstly, as my friends and I arrived, the hotel had the date we booked wrong. Great start. We arrived on the 1st January and upon arrival the place was not the most appealing to say the least. It took a while to find the entrance and we had to wait at reception for quite some time, once we finally got noticed we were all then taken into this not so appealing bar, we had old men staring at us and wasn't the best atmosphere to be in. However the man serving us was quite friendly. QUITE. As the hotel got the dates mixed up when we got to our room the cleaner was still there, it was a shame on her as she was shocked and had to rush however the rooms didn't seem to get tidied well. In addition, we requested a later check out time and no one got back to us about this. Pretty appalling service if you ask myself. Wouldn't come back and wouldn't recommend to anyone else. Excellent service - they were very accommodating about our check-in, even though we came exceptionally late. Very easy to find, right on the main road. Very convenient parking situation. It appears they are gradually renovating the rooms - a mixture of old and new furniture and the bathroom appears to have just been updated with modern conveniences (e.g. new shower) without finishing touches (e.g. toilet paper holder). Was not expecting much from this establishment, rooms at pubs are usually pretty basic but fit for a one night business stay in my experience.||Rooms @ The Royal is a little different, I was allocated room 3 which was decorated and furnished to a standard the would put some large hotel chains to shame. Immaculately clean also with all the things you expect present.||The small town of Harthill has little to offer but for business this place is fine given it's proximity to the M8.
