We came here on our 13th week of our travels across the country and this was our 30th campsite so we have a lot of comparisons. The campsite is nice enough, which each pitch being serviced with electricity and water. There are some good facilities including the swimming pool and cafe / shop unfortunately we didn't get to use the pool as we can't leave the dogs in the van. The toilet / showers are kept clean and they are modern, I liked the fact that they were adult only too shame that there wasn't a private cubicle with just a wash basin. Our one big gripe about the site is that the water isnt hot enough particularly for dish washing how can you wash dishes in luke warm water, and what makes it laughable is the sign that says "warning hot water"- really? The location is nice for walking, we did a couple of lovely walks from the site with our dogs to Fort Henry and out to the local villages of Exton and Exton estate. Greetham is lovely with two pubs, we particularly enjoyed our outing to the Plough very dog friendly and welcoming. We scored this lower purely on the water situation because we happen to feel hot water for dishwashing is really important. Oh and be warned the Church chimes every hour on the clock with one bell for each hour. Luckily we use ear plugs and so it didn't bother us to much that being said it's a beautiful church.

A pleasant large site situated on the edge of the village of Greetham and surrounded by farmland. There is a wood on the edge of the adults only area of the site, which provides a pleasant shady area for walking your dog, with poo bins at the entrances/exits. There is a footpath from the wood which leads out to the village and community centre/local park. Dog friendly pub, The Plough, in the village. We didn't visit it ourselves, but it appeared to be popular. There is a small shop within the reception at the site, which was handy for ice creams etc. We didn't use the onsite cafe, so cannot say what it was like, but the menu looked good. On-site facilities were good - all pitches are fully serviced. The toilet and shower block was good and well maintained/cleaned. The showers were hot and powerful but could benefit from a shower curtain to help protect your dry clothes from the spray. Staff were friendly and helpful. Security is good, with entry controlled by barriers that are activated by keycard which is issued upon arrival. The site was quiet at night.

Well maintained site of two halves. It has an adult only area and family area. All adult pitches fully booked but the family area, which surrounds a large grass area with fenced children's play equipment in the centre had plenty of spaces (arrived midweek out of school holidays). The family area filled up on the Friday evening. Pitches of a good size we had a corner pitch, campers were cuting corners, heads would suddenly appear by your MH windows. Apart from reception on arriving we had no other contact with site staff, we did not use the site facilities but used our own, on board. The site is approximately 5 miles from Rutland Water our main reason for visiting to cycle too and cycle around.

We spent 2 nights there, the staff were so friendly and made us feel welcome. The campsite was beautiful and clean and the shower facilities were excellent. A beautiful cafe onsite too.

Sadly when we arrived we were told we couldn't be in the adults only side as that was for caravans. We were disappointed as we were having a break from our kids. Though, the showers in this area whilst are absolutly amazing! So powerful and the hot water is certainly hot - not luke warm like many others.

Every pitch is fully serviced with electric hook-ups, water and grey-waste. Can't ask for more there.

The pitch we was given was at least away from any families so we were happy. However the pitch was solid and we had a new tent and every peg was bent as it felt like concrete under the grass. Not one peg went in properly. We mentioned it at reception but was told it was just dry from no rain. It definitely wasn't down to that.

Day 2 we got bombarded with families so close to us, the kids kept passing right Infront of our pitch. That night we got no sleep as the tent next to us had such loud snoring coming from it we wanted to leave but couldn't as barrier was locked till 7.30 am next day. We think the pitches are too close together. From now on we will only ever book adult only camp sites.

A final niggle and it really is only a niggle is that even though you're issued electronic key cards to allow access on and off camp for exclusive use for the users of the site, there is a barrier that is locked between 11:00pm and 7:30am. On first thought we felt that this was a little unnecessary because no-one except campers can drive onto site anyway. However, I guess the park wants to limit campers' movements during those hours to avoid disturbance. It was just a little surprising as this was the only camp out of the many that we have stayed at that has such an amazingly safe and secure exit/entrance system in the first place that barrier was (at first notice) a little over the top. But, it is the camp's right to do as it feels fits the purpose. Though, as much as this was a lovely break for my wife and I, I was actually working at an event nearby and it would've been more beneficial for the gate to have opened at 7:00 instead. However, I wouldn't have expected the camp to break protocol for an individual out of the hundreds or thousands of visitors they receive.

Other than that we truly do recommend this wonderful campsite...

I originally booked two nights with husband and friends then decided to bring my two boys a day earlier by myself as it is school holidays. |Booking was very easy, I rang and the man on the phone so helpful, when I wanted to add the third night I emailed and again a really quick helpful response. |Upon arrival, I went into reception and was greeted by such a friendly helpful man. I was nervous at pitching up as it was my first time without my husband, but the man was great and explained everything to me…including showing me a toy model with paw patrol…which I thought was brilliant and really helped me. |Luckily I was in pitch 94 next to a hedge so couldn’t go wrong. |I was on my own for the first night with a 6 & 8 year old and can honestly say I felt safe the whole time. I like how you can’t get in without a key card.|The park is brilliant for the kids and I like it how it is gated so no dogs can run in there. |We went swimming…which was really easy to book and had fun…maybe 40 mins slots would be better than 30 if with kids but we all enjoyed it. After it we went into the main showers and one of the owners had just finished cleaning the shower block but let us in…then questioned us about why we was using those showers and not the ones in the pool area….not in a nasty way but making sure everything was ok. The showers in the main block are brilliant…really powerful. |I liked seeing the owners going round and checking the site throughout the stay.|The site itself is very clean, the showers and toilets are also clean.|I have to say I like the fact it has an adults only bit. Although my boys are good and controlled, I still worry about any noise they may make without realising and annoying people who don’t like kids, so it’s nice to know that anyone on the site where we were, we’re “ok” with kids and those who weren’t, wouldn’t be bothered as away from us. |People say about an industrial estate but I can honestly say I did not notice at all, it was very quiet the entire time. |Overall I found the owners all really friendly and helpful and would definitely recommend and will...

We’ve been caravanning for many years and have never met such unfriendly and rude staff. The site entrance was uninviting with large potholes everywhere; a few flowers or shrubs would have helped lift its appearance. The hardstanding pitches were unkempt & covered with weeds as was the paved area around the toilet block. The factory by the entrance billowed out black smoke for much of the day and although the smoke did not affect us, it was unpleasant. Unfortunately, there was a gathering of travellers staying 8 miles away at Oakham during our visit. The police advised that pubs should close their door for the extent of the travellers stay & consequently, the two village pubs closed. The campsite advised that all Rutland pubs were closed, but this was incorrect as we visited a pub in Rutland just 3 miles down the road. When returning from our visit to the pub at 8:45pm we could not enter the site as the barriers were barricaded with heavy machinery. We phoned the emergency contact number and after much discussion the barricades were reluctantly removed. The employee Fred’s attitude was unapologetic as apparently everyone on site knew of the deadline of 9pm (we returned at 8.45pm!). At no point did any staff advise us of the deadline. It is unacceptable to expect holidaymakers to have to return to site before a reasonable time in the evening. We appreciate that an increased level of security is desirable, but this should not be to the detriment of the guests. We were told by Fred to leave our car outside of the site until morning. Given the site’s security concern, then surely any cars left outside the site would be equally at risk. We certainly won’t be visiting here again. Having reads the latest reviews on the Caravan Club site, clearly we are not alone. in...
