Beautiful tranquil environment. Son attended a sailing course here and he had a lot of fun. This is the water reservoir that supplies our tap water in Peterborough. Lots of wildlife around. It's a bit out of the way - my husband drove us here. I would come here by public transport if I could as I don't drive, but I rely on Google Maps a lot for traveling directions. Here is where Google Maps fails. When searching for directions to travel here from Stamford, Google Maps says there is NO way to get there by public transport. I had to do a bit of Googling on the Internet, where I found out a bus company called Centrebus that serves the local villages does have a bus number 9 that will take you from Stamford all the way to Rutland Water's North Shore (where the sailing activities are) morning to afternoon from Mondays to Fridays! FYI the prices are £5+ for an adult return and £4+ for a child return for this journey. I'm so glad Centrebus has a website detailing this or I would never have found out via Google Maps directions. Google Maps also gets my home address wrong on street view... I tried looking into how to rectify it but there seemed no options to do so, or at least these options aren't easily found online...

Be warned😡...won't ...
Read moreI guess it really depends on what you are expecting from a campsite as to how you review it! There are no toilet or shower facilities, however you can use the ones at the sailing club across the road with prior permission. There is a chemical waste disposal, and fresh water. No Electric hookup. We had a fantastic time camping there with our friends and two young children. We both own campervans, so are fairly self sufficient which is required here. The field is fairly large, and we had to pitch up in the middle, as the outside edges are for regular visitors. It's actually the second time that we have camped here, and we will be back...
