POSITIVES : @£180 for three of us, this was really great value. The tents were great, clean and we were provided with plenty of wood for the log burner, enough to start it up again in the morning. The location, though not with a view as such did let us look out onto what make a great safari like vista of tents surrounded by long wild grasses and wild flowers everywhere. Wooden raised walkways to each tent allow feet to stay clean and dry. The living accommodation is brilliant. ||The there is the amazing surf center right next door which has a great cafe, shops and facilities including a bar and a string range of interesting food and beverages. It all felt very chilled and really well resourced. Power for the pools is all from renuable energy. ||Negatives..... the showers were supposedly only to be used by campers. They were in fact used by lots of people coming in from the pools. The showers for men were a bit iffy, being black which showed all the residue of earlier habitats and a dark tiled floor which revealed every water mark. In the toilet the same applied. My wife said the ladies were actually quite mucky and one had no paper and there was evidence of pidgeon bird poo on the toilets and the floor. ||This was all tolerable and very much a first world problem. The real issue in our case were the neighbours. The tent to our left had a hen party going on. I wasn't aware that was allowed. A young lad helper did have a word at about 8 pm or so, but it didn't stop them. At least they went quieter by about 10.15 pm. But then at 5am a group in the next tent got up and out making a horrendous noise, laughing and joking. My next door neighbours on the other side had kids who were up screaming and fighting at 6am and not stopped by the parents. so by then I was not going back to sleep.||This wasn't the fault of the Wave Centre, just annoying holiday makers. Tourists ruined our experience somewhat. But I'd still rate it 4 out of 5 because despite a lack of sleep as it's potentially a brilliant location break. The guys there need to make it much much clearer what the rules are over noise as best they can. Just ask for a tent away from other people if that's a possibility. No...
Read moreAmazing venue and vibe. We just spent a week glamping at the wave and surfing. The first thing you notice at the wave is the customer service. Staff are happy to be there and happy to help you. The team at the wave have proven that the concept of awesome customer service has not gone extinct! With the tone set by the team, the vibe great throughout the venue. Everyone was welcoming and helpful and it was not long before we were having a great time and making new friends.
The Wave The wave is awesome - I only got as far as advanced but saw a significant and rapid improvement in my and the boys surfing. While catching a wave is relatively easy, constantly paddling back out can be quite tiring. Do not book back to back or more than 2 slots n a day unless you have been or are really fit! Two sessions a day was about all my body and wallet could handle!
The food He food was very good. Great variety, and while not the cheapest, the portions were good and quality was excellent. I will happily buy meals there again.
The facilities All in the facilities were great, clean and well maintained. Anywhere that actively encourages skateboarding as a means of getting around is my kind of place! The wifi at the clubhouse is strong.
The tents The tent exceeded expectations. Large, clean airy, comfy. No problems recommending and definitely going back.
In short a brilliant place to spend a day or a week either you are c complete beginner or relatively good. There is something for everyone, including the non surfers. Your technique confidence and fitness will improve significantly, as will your zen and happiness and daily smile quota! Catching consistent waves like...
Read moreNot Quite as Advertised – Uncomfortable, Cold and Lacking Basic Amenities - Poor Value for Money.
We ended up checking out early after just one night due to an uncomfortable experience and finding much better accommodation elsewhere, despite paying est. €100 per night here.
The property is marketed as a warm and cozy glamping experience, but unfortunately, it did not live up to these expectations:
Unheated Tent: The tent was non-insulated and freezing cold, far from the cozy atmosphere advertised. Despite having a stove, it did little to warm the space, serving more as a decorative feature. The bedding provided—thin duvets—was inadequate for such cold conditions. Even wearing multiple layers, including long underwear, socks, and a wool hat, I was still cold throughout the night.
Inadequate Amenities: We found additional issues with the facilities. The pit latrine was malfunctioning, there were no towels provided, and the main WC/shower area was under construction. The few available replacement facilities were not clean and far below the expected standard.
Lack of Response from Staff: When we addressed our concerns with the staff the next morning, there was no effort to offer any form of compensation or solution. The staff seemed to be aware that this is not the first time this happened and the general manager was unwilling to react to the issues or meet us halfway.
As a result, we had to leave early and book a hotel nearby, doubling our expenses. Given the experience, I would recommend exploring alternative accommodations in the area before...
