This was a great hotel to stay in. The photos are from room 15, and the continental breakfast was good. Recommended to stay.

Thoroughly disappointing is the only way I can describe our experience at this property! We arrived at the property at about 3pm, there was no one there, we had to call a number for access. This is fine but it wasn’t the impression we had of this B&B! We obviously wrongly assumed it was part of a tearoom, maybe not anymore. On checking in over the phone, Simon asked us if we wanted a cooked breakfast in the morning and what time we wanted it, we said not really, continental was fine and we agreed on 9am ish, so we had already pre-empted the fact that we weren’t really ‘cooked breakfast people’. The property is very old fashioned, tired and looks like a care home! In their defence though, the bed was reasonably comfortable and the teabags in the room were the good quality Yorkshire Tea ones. The walls are not well sound proofed at all, I could hear the person in the room next to us snoring all night. We got to breakfast a bit earlier than expected, about 8.30am. When we entered the breakfast room, there was a TV on and a young boy sat at the table below the TV with a tablet device watching some children’s programmes on loudspeaker. This immediately got our backs up! Especially as we were placed at a table right next to him and the TV and the young boy clearly belonged to the hotel staff in some way. Simon asked us if we wanted any cooked breakfast again, we said no, he seemed offended and then pointed at the continental choice which quite frankly was dismal!! It all came across as cheap, poor quality and there was no choice at all. Some very over ripe bananas, a bit of chopped melon, some cheap tasting yogurt and awful mueslis. We again, wrongly assumed continental might mean some pastries and nicer quality items. At this point we said maybe we would have a couple of poached eggs. I asked if he had any sourdough to be told unfortunate not, I said not to worry then. I was given a look as if to say I was asking a bit much! It then appeared like something was muttered to the woman behind the counter making the coffee, then Simon left the room, followed by the woman behind the counter after she gave us both a coffee. I got a small portion of muesli and a yogurt, and my husband had a piece of melon. At this point the young boys tablet device was beyond annoying, especially along with the TV so we moved to the other side of the room. Simon came back into the room and told the young boy he was being a 'good boy'!!! Which he was but Simon’s hospitality skills are seriously lacking!!! We drank our coffees and left by 9am. I believe Simon knew why we had moved tables but didn’t care and why he had what seemed like an ‘off’ attitude with us I do not know, we were nothing but polite at all times. 2 Stars given for decent T bags in the room, good location to where we wanted to be (but couldn't get a taxi for love nor money!) and bed not being too bad. Seriously need to up their game though!!! Not worth...

Got to the property after a full day of shopping. Telephoned the number on the door and spoke with Simon. He was out at that time but explained the location of the keys and told us our room number and location. Asked us about breakfast the next morning and asked for a time that suited us. |We were in number 15. Once inside our room both me and my friend were really pleased. The bathroom was a good size. With a good size shower, loo, sink and clean towels. The water pressure was great and at a good temperature. There was a little kitchenette area where there was plenty of cupboards, fridge , microwave and kettle. The bedroom was really good. I ordered a twin room and that is what we got. A double bed and single bed, a sofa, 2 wardrobes, table and chairs and a telly. It was very warm and comfortable. Just what we needed after our day out. |We went out for something to eat later came back and settled down for the night. |The next morning we went down for breakfast and was greeted by Simon. Who makes a mean coffee. |There was orange juice, tea or coffee, a few cereals, toast and a good cooked breakfast. Lovely. |Simon explained the checking out procedure and left us to our food. |We finished our breakfast got our luggage and went on our merry way for another day of shopping. ||The first words out of my friend’s mouth was ‘I would stay here again’ and I totally agree. |I must admit, when I read the negative comment(s) about the booking I did think again. Yes, it is an old care home and yes there is a stair lift but being less abled than most it was brilliant for me. I didn’t use the stair lift I might add the stairs were comfortable to walk up. ||Try it for yourself and make up...

Don't visit. |Turned up. No one there on arrival.|Had to phone Simon the owner. He stated straight away..don't use the ensuite bathroom. |We had a look and the first thing we notice was the smell of cabbage and sewers coming from the ensuite.|Rang to let Simon know and asked if we could move to another room but he said there wasnt one. He didn't seem shocked or surprised about our complaint and said he would sort it!|We had to go out and on returning later, the only thing it seems he had done ,was spray air freshener which didn't hide the smell and still not able to use the bathroom. Simon had said when we first arrived to use the toilet across the landing. He wasn't around to be able to talk to so we messaged him to let him know we wouldn't be staying, so we left.|I've emailed him and text him, but no response.|The £91 for a very smelly room with an ensuite that wasn't available to us, with a sign on the door that said ' dont use' and also looked really shabby like an old people's care home, was absolutely ridiculous. |Good luck to whoever stays here. If you want the feeling of visiting an elderly relative at a home which smells, which even has a stairlift leftover and don't want any sight of the owner, you've...
