This pub is amazing! Large carpark with a few steps into the establishment to be aware of for disabled and buggies but not a great drama.
Disabled parking available as well.
As you enter through the very pleasant hallway the toilets are immediately on your left, you find yourself straight into a cosy and welcoming drinking bar with TV. Just off to the left is a lovely little snug with a couple of chairs for reading books etc.
Further on the pub opens up into the larger restaurant bar and seating area. This area is very spacious and excellently decorated and furnished. The atmosphere and aesthetics are very pleasant indeed making for a great experience.
The staff were welcoming and friendly they were also good fun and very efficient.
The menu was extensive with a specials menu also provided, there was a lot to choose from! I went with the tomato soup to start which was stunning.
For main I had the pie of the day which happened to be steak and ale, again it was of excellent quality! Totally recommend the gravy was extremely rich and moreish.
Dessert was the brownie which came out warmed through and was delicious. The rest of my party also said their meals were excellent. By the end we were all very full, having enjoyed the most excellent food.
Based on this experience I think you would be mad if you’re in the area and don’t book a meal here. Even just popping in for a drink the bar...
Read moreI booked a table to celebrate my Sisters Wedding anniversary 3 weeks in advance. On arrival the first impression was the Plastic flowers adorning the hanging baskets. This is June not DECEMBER !! then on entering the Ladies Toilets to find it had not been checked for some time was very off putting to say the least. From there it went further downhill. They were out of most Gin's including Gordons so I settled for the only one they had. My Husband was then told they had no Ale. After looking at the menu we all decided on a Sirloin Steak only to be told they had sold out! It was only 8pm on a Saturday night! After finally deciding to settle for something else it was soon apparent that the food had been and heated up to look like they had prepared it themselves. After only 10 minutes following ordering, all 4 meals suddenly appeared. I know a lot of restaurants buy in pre-prepared food but please do not try to say they have a great chef who has prepared and cooked everything him or herself. We all left after the very mediocre main course. The whole episode was extremely disappointing and we will...
Read moreWe came for a Sunday lunch at the Ashcott, the food was lovely! It’s a shame that our experience was ruined at the end by the rude manager. As it was a lovely day we decided we wanted to finish our drinks and have our desserts outside. Our lovely waitress said that it was no problem, we were then rudely asked to come inside to pay the bill ‘so that they know we aren’t going to run off without paying’. When we then came inside to pay the manager was being extremely horrible to her waitress’ and slagging off our table insinuating that we shouldn’t have been let leave our table without paying. After paying we had our desserts outside, we had to ask for the cutlery to eat them (after the desserts being brought out in boxes and a Sainsbury’s bag). To which we were then told to make sure we brought the forks inside (as if we were going to steal their forks). As a group of paying customers with a bill of over £200 it would be nice to not be made out to be a group of scammers/robbers. The poor waitresses looked so fed up of their horrible manager. Despite the above the sunday...
