We just want to say a huge thank you to Tasha and the team at the Manor House, Wokefield Estate. They exceeded our expectations and made us feel like royalty during the wedding process.

We visited the Mansion House for an initial meeting with Tasha where we were warmly welcomed. She answered all of our questions and throughout the process she was quick to respond to queries via email. Tasha and the wedding events team are so kind, helpful and approachable. I felt like a burden at times with the amount of emails I’d send, but I never once was made to feel like I was asking too much or pestering them! After this meeting we visited Wokefield for one of their wedding open days, Tasha recognised us and welcomed us; a very personal service.

The day prior to our wedding, we visited Wokefield to set up the terrace suite. The front of house team helped us carry everything, hang our signs, and brought us plenty of beverages until we were finished decorating. Even the maintenance team got involved helping us hang our sign!

Our wedding day was perfect and the team went above and beyond. When we arrived at Wokefield we were greeted by Tasha and the front of house team (along with some champagne!) The waiting team were brilliant- professional, polite and keen to help us and our guests. The food was amazing, beautifully presented and delicious! The day ran so smoothly, with no hiccups.

We were overwhelmed with our room. Our luggage which we took the day prior was waiting for us in our room- we didn’t need to move anything on the day. The size, cleanliness and amenities were amazing. There were rose petals and swan towels on the bed, ballon’s and personalised luxury dressing gowns with our new name and wedding date embroidered on (this was an amazing gift and we were so grateful for this additional touch, we still wear them now!). When we went up to the room at the end of the night, we were surprised to see the team had given us even more gifts! We had some wedding cake and a complimentary bottle of Prosecco to have at the end of the night.

At the end of the day, the team put all of our decorations (flowers, vases, cake stand, lights- everything!) into a room which was locked overnight until we removed everything the following day. They also kept the leftover wedding cake in their fridge for us to take home and enjoy later on!

The service we received from the entire team at The Manor House, Wokefield Estate is definitely of the highest quality we’ve ever received. We cannot wait to visit again for our complimentary 1 year...

One star only because I couldn't give it zero. Booked a suite in the mansion house, no offer to take your bags to your room instead just directed up the stairs with two suitcases. In our suite greeted by a pair of bikini bottoms in the fire place!? Booked a table for dinner at 20:30, expecting a busy Saturday night but still ended up waiting 20 minutes to be shown to a table due to over booking. Left waiting on the stairs while poor members of stressed staff were trying to go up and down the stairs with trays of drinks, I appreciate things have calmed down but there was zero concern for any kind of social distancing or care for other guests. Once seated we waited another 20 minutes to have our drinks order taken, we were given a jug of water but glass to drink it out of... not a chance. These didn't come until half way through the main course! Wrong drinks brought to the table but too thirsty to argue by this point. Eventually after a rather flat meal walked back to the mansion house, (oh did I forget to mention they couldn't staff the restaurant there!? Would have been nice to know that beforehand!) Bar closed, only licensed until 23:00, understand the licencing laws and all... That's fine we'll order room service, spend time selecting a few items..."sorry we can't fulfil your order at the moment". Okay we'll just call reception, no answer. Fine we'll pop down. "Sorry we don't offer room service" strange, your newly published online guide says you do, "well we don't after 22:00" that's not what your guide says. Safe to say this is the first negative review I have ever left but the service and standards have fallen below expectation at every turn, so much to say the Holiday Inn Express stayed in for business last week far exceeded the...

I absolutely loved the Mansion House Estate however, it was so unfortunate that not only was a wedding reception taking place during our stay and that we could not have our pre booked dinner at the restaurant ..... .....our beautiful suite was on top of the wedding reception hall!!! Not enjoyable at all. The music went on 'til 1am. We could not have dinner at the restaurant albeit, we had booked a table we were forced to order room service. With the limited choice, I didnt enjoy this one bit. By the time we were offered to move (midnight) to the new bit of the hotel (which we refused) it was frustrating to say the least. As it was the onset of Easter Weekend, the drive from East London to Reading was tiring so I am annoyed that we were not told of the wedding on booking. We wanted a lovely dinner at the hotel and then just simply relax in our beautiful room (which was an upgrade but, pointless). By the time we fell asleep it was almost 4 am and then we missed breakfast and had to check out by 11am! So, in a nutshell no matter how beautiful the room or the estate was, the experience was not so enjoyable and lets not forget that fuel is not cheap!!

It would be great if we got to enjoy the Estate (Mansion House) without the commotion that marred...

We got married here and we came back ten years later. Some areas of the hotel have been refurbished and it all looked great. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful, we had a bottle of bubbly waiting for us in the suite and when we explained we didn’t drink they promptly swapped it for a discount against our dinner which was a lovely touch. The rooms are beautiful all extremely well equipped. We didn’t like the app they now use to order room service at all, but I’m keeping it to five stars because everything else was flawless and the staff are all just fantastic.

What a fabulous afternoon tea I enjoyed here with my mother after a long ramble round Mortimer. At the time we went the cakes were Jubilee themed, and such lovely attention to detail. I booked through afternoontea.co.uk which is worth checking if the venues own websites say they are fully booked - they are not - we were one of only three tables in fact. Such a beautiful setting too for many special occasions.
