We have just spent a wonderful four days at Middleham House gathering together family and friends for our son's 21st birthday. I cannot imagine a better home for a multi-generational stay. There are ample spaces to come together - a stunning drawing room with a huge fire place, a dining room that seats 24 comfortably and a huge games room which was the scene of a lot of fun. There is also a really pretty courtyard garden which would be ideal for a barbeque. Bedrooms are huge and most are ensuite which is a huge bonus. Middleham House is also so well located for exploring gorgeous Yorkshire. There are 4 pubs within crawling distance (Richard III was our fave), a village shop, a cafe (great for watching the jockeys on their horses heading to the gallops). Not to mention loads of walks from the house - we loved the one that goes past Middleham Castle and through the fields to the river which is swimmable for the brave! Thank you Middleham House for our...

First impressions of this house are amazing, But you don't even need to scratch the surface to be dissapointed. The first family member to arrive called me to check I had my inhaler as the walls were covered in black mould! There's shabby chic and then there's just shabby and unfortunately this house is the latter. It's such a shame as it is a beautiful building. It was clean on the surface, but was desperate for some deeper tlc - paint touch ups, new lampshades, new sofas (white is a bold choice for a holiday house!) There weren't even matress or pillow protectors on the beds, which for a holiday let seems incredibly unhygienic. This property has clearly been magnificent in the past and could easily be again, it just feels very unloved. Hopefully some maintenance is on the horizon to bring it to its...

We had 4 generations staying at Middleham House and everyone came away happy. The house swallowed 21 people comfortably with enough parking for all of us. The location is ideal : in the middle of the village but with complete privacy. Pubs, fish and chip shop, cafe, local store, antiques all within a short walk. The castle and surrounding walks are very enjoyable. The bedrooms amd bathrooms were clean. The huge rooms downstairs accommodated all of us for singing eating and games. The kitchen area had everything needed... and we really enjoyed making use of the barbecue (charcoal needed) area. I'm happy to...
