The Black Bull Middleham — Restaurant in England

We arrived at The Forbidden Garden late on New Year's Day after a long drive from Edinburgh. The pub and restaurant on site were both closed so we set off to try and find somewhere close by that was serving food. At 8pm on New Year's Day, Sunday, we didn't hold out much hope. However, we found this gorgeous pub. We enquired about food to be told that although food was served until 6pm, they would happily cook for us both, and even offered me (a fussy vegetarian!) with different options. We opted for a roast, and the food arrived, my plate piled high with delicious veg and cauliflower cheese! They had even gone out of their way to cook me some extra chips to make sure I didn't go hungry! The young publicans were so friendly and welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure our needs were met. The pub itself is just wonderful, with low beams and a roaring fire, I only wish I lived closer and could frequent it more! Well...

We stayed here in October for 2 nights while attending a wedding at the saddle room. Perfect location for this only 5min drive away. Harriet and staff went above and beyond. We stayed in a lovely spacious room no2 both bedroom and bathroom were immaculate. Excellent shower etc. and what a bargain for the price it is a very friendly pub we witnessed their own football team coming in to a huge pan of spaghetti Bolognese after their match on sunday. They're definitely a community hub/pub. We had breakfast both mornings not your usual full breakfast or scrambled egg great range of menu and we thoroughly enjoyed it, you can tast the difference locally sourced fresh produce. I can safely say we would definitely stay here again maybe if we come to visit the forbidden corner again only 5min drive. Wish I could give 6 stars for...

An absolutely lovely place to stay, the room was well decorated and set out, spacious, the bed was very comfortable, nice thick duvet even though the room was nice and warm. The bar has a good selection of lager, cider and Ales, there is also a good selection of spirits, especially the Forged Gin !! We also ate here and the food was fantastic! Good selection of juices and cereals and also the choice of a cooked breakfast, we opted for the full English of course which was amazing. Zero complaints about anything during our stay, the bar staff are all lovely too, and the landlord Sam was always on hand to help if needed. We can’t wait to stay here again in December , Middleham is a lovely...
