My wife and two young daughters - together with Father-in-Law and Brother-in-Law, stayed here for two nights last weekend for a local family wedding (Ashley Wood Farm, also amazing). There are 3 bedrooms on the top floor, and we had all 3 between us.||||We couldn't have asked for more. The hosts were absolutely lovely - first class people, very welcoming and attentive.||||The house itself is lovely; that doesn't really do it justice, but it's just a really nice and comfortable environment. Cosy, comfortable, clean, neat and tidy and very nicely furnished/decorated and maintained.||||The bedrooms were a very good size, comfortable beds, good bathroom facilities with shower gel, shampoo etc. all available. Tea and coffee and biscuits were available in the room. Good hair-dryers were in the room. I needed an iron, which wasn't, but this was easily provided on request.||||The cooked breakfast was superb; perfectly cooked and presented, at least as good - probably better - as you'd get in a good cafe or pub or a good standard of hotel. Coffee was excellent, something I always appreciate needing my coffee to get up and going each day.||||To top it all off, the host (Tim) kindly offered to drive us back to the wedding venue the following morning to collect our cars and I left a reasonably valuable watch in the room and they contacted me to let me know and are arranging to post it back to me. Perhaps you wouldn't expect anything less, but this isn't always my experience and it's just been taken care of with the minimum of fuss and bother, which is very much appreciated.||||In short, we will almost certainly be back and I can't recommend this place enough, for all sorts of reasons. Not only is the house itself lovely, but it's in a very nice and picturesque part of the world and Salisbury (a lovely City that we explored on the Sunday) is not too far away as is Stone Henge (which we visited on the way home, getting quite close thanks to the advice of the hosts in how to get close to it and which our young daughters thought was pretty cool).||||Lovely experience all round; we will almost certainly be back (if we are ever in the area again, which I am sure we will be) and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone considering it. If it's available, and you need...

My granddaughter nearly 11 years old, wanted to visit Longleat so we visited this beautiful b&b 2 weeks ago and stayed in the family room. Main door opens into a double room and a seperate smaller room which I believe could easily accommodate 2 children if necessary. The double bedroom has it’s own door which offered us all privacy. We found The Old Rectory very cosy, superbly presented and Lynda and Colin, the owners served a fantastic breakfast, after which the breakfast room is reinstated into the lovely peaceful drawing room where there a plenty of books to tuck into. We visited Salisbury where my husband took our granddaughter to the museum, while I went in search of the shops! Salisbury is now back to normal and is a beautiful city to explore. ONE BIG TIP, we found The Old Rectory online BUT BY BOOKING DIRECT with the owners, we received a nice discount. We would not hesitate to return in future, a much nicer atmosphere than in many 4 star hotels I have had the misfortune of staying at. Plenty of pubs and restaurants in the very close proximity, 5/10 minute...

We stayed here for just one night in order to visit Stourhead the next day. We found it easily as it lies just off the A303. There was plenty of parking in front of the Old Rectory within its gardens. Tim, the proprietor showed us to our room and advised where breakfast was served. We had a very well decorated and furnished king room on the top floor adjacent to the road. The bed was comfortable and everything was clean. The shower room was spacious and also very clean. On the ground floor was a sumptuous lounge with large settees for guest use. Breakfast was a highlight with cereal, fruit and Yoghurt, Full english with eggs cooked to your liking or smoked Salmon all available. If you are a light sleeper or like the window open you will be aware of the road noise. Otherwise the double glazing is good. It is convenient for Stourhead, Stonehenge...
