We stayed in the Rooks View for 2 nights in November 2025. It exceeded our expectations on so many levels. We loved the eco conscious touches like the composting toilet, the eco friendly products and were amazed at how well it merged with luxury and comfort. The hot tub was just wonderful. The views were incredible. The pizza oven was brilliant! I also loved the outdoor bath and didn't feel the cold at all. The hot water was instant and never in short supply. The shower was really hot and impressively powerful. The log fire kept us toasty warm and we loved being away from civilisation without internet. Unfortunately both of our phones still had full signal! But we managed to ignore them and took advantage of the extensive DVD collection if we needed some easy entertainment. The surround sound system made the whole thing such an immersive experience. It was like being in a cinema! We downloaded a playlist before we left and enjoyed the Bluetooth speaker provided. Dale was brilliant - he greeted us on arrival, carried all our belongings in the motorised wheelbarrow, before talked us through the important bits and made sure we had everything we needed without intruding on our time. Heather was also brilliant at answering our enquiries promptly prior to our arrival. It is clear they both have a passion for the little slice of eco friendly paradise they have created. The app we downloaded and the handbook in the treehouse gave us all the info we needed for our entire time there. Dale was efficient and discreet when replacing the gas cannister for the pizza oven when it ran out of gas, (clearly many other pizzas have been lovingly made and enjoyed here!) It was sorted within 15 minutes of our call and he discreetly dropped us a quick text to let us know it was all done. So there was no disturbance to our evening and our pizza was soon back on track without delay! We felt completely secluded and private despite them being close to hand when needed. We are very much planning to return and are excited to see the introduction of the sauna to the Rooks View that Dale was telling us about! We highly recommend the Rookery Woods to anyone looking for a couples retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the modern world. Our only regret is we couldn't...
Read moreI stayed here most recently for 4 nights (2nd - 6th of December 2024) in Rooks Nook.
I booked this cabin over 12 months ago as it was one on the bucket list having visited a number of cabins over the last few years! And, I have to say it was beautiful.
The surroundings and cabin itself are absolutely stunning and the owners are amazing, so friendly and super super kind. Incredible before and during without a doubt.
I would recommend and it’s one you have to see but for us personally it was possibly the right place, wrong time. I booked for winter in hope to have a cosy girls night with my mum … and I know this will be down to preference as it’s most likely primarily couples who stay but due to my mums disability she cannot use hot tubs or baths in any that we have visited so the basement cinema room really sold this for us. Unfortunately it was far too cold in there to even attempt to sit in despite the lovely gestures of a few blankets and hot water bottles. I know the owners would have fixed this in a heartbeat if they were able and I understand it’s H&S but this was a huge huge spoiler for us as we’ve visited other cabins with hot tubs, baths and projector screens so this was our main reason for booking as the cinema room was something she too could enjoy. It was a shame as we booked it over 12 months ago and travelled 4.5 hours so this was disappointing, almost felt a full facility was out of use. So, all I can say is bring clothes to wrap up if it’s a winters night!! Otherwise, stay in the hot tub and watch a film from there if you’re in a position to do so.
Everything else was great and it was a beautiful place with lovely owners. Unfortunately I don’t feel we had value for money with our particular break but accept that it’s most likely much more suited to a...
Read moreMy partner and I came to stay for a (slightly belated) anniversary celebration. We spent a happy week in The Rook's View. This was the first big holiday I've planned myself, rather than going with my parents, and I am so glad we chose to come here.
There is a lot to do in the Bromyard area, with all sorts of interesting tourist sites like the National Trust's Brockhampton Estate (which is about a five minute drive from The Rookery Woods). We kept busy on our days out, and came back to a wonderfully relaxing and peaceful cabin, with a gorgeous view of the Herefordshire hillside. It was perfect for settling in with a nice cold cider - Herefordshire is cider country after all - and enjoying a movie with the projector, or relaxing in the hot tub looking out over the hills
The Rookery Woods are also very eco-friendly, with recycled water and other environmentally friendly facilities. If I recall correctly, the Cabin was built from recycled wood from the surrounding area. This wasn't part of why we stayed here but it was a very pleasant surprise when we learned of it.
The one problem we had with the cabin was that there weren't any scissors in the kitchen, which we routinely forgot about until we needed scissors and then had to find a workaround. It really wasn't a big problem, but I felt it was worth mentioning.
We both enjoyed our time here so much, that we are seriously considering coming back in a year or two for another anniversary. I can highly recommend a stay at The Rooks View. We were sad to leave, and are both very much looking forward to when we will next be able to stay there.
Huge thanks to Dale and the crew for everything! You guys really made our two year anniversary one...
