The first time we have stayed in the travelodge and i will not ever stay in one again! We arrived for our first evening out of 4 and what can i say the room was dirty. The picture above the bed had something brown splashed across it and the light behind the bed was caked in filth please see photos. The bathroom was mouldy and stinky. Also when paid online we booked the wifi at £12 but when we arrived all we were given was the wifi key which does not entitle you to the wifi and was asking for a voucher so we could not even use it.We went straight down to the cafe/bar for tea with the kids as we had been on a long journey. It was just after 5pm the bar was empty. We had ordered our food which i thought was a reasonable until we received it. There seems to be no chef and it is the staff on the desk that cook the meals. The worst meal i have ever had the pizza cost £9.90 which was just a standard frozen chicago town pizza which you buy from the local store. I had the lasagna with salad it was horrid and was obviously just a tray meal cooked and splattered on the plate AWFUL. My husband had the pie and chips the pie was rock hard he could hardly cut into it also the chips were rock hard and burnt. The food was just so bad and i think it is shocking that you charge restaurant prices in what obviously is just frozen food from the local store. We checked out the next morning for a refund on the rest of the days there is no way we could have stayed any longer. We had payed for breakfast but after the taste of the food the evening before we did not even bother going to get it which is a good job as every table was full. Thankfully our 4 days away were rescued by the premier inn as they have a restaurant with chefs and a nice clean family room so we could enjoy the rest of our getaway. Very...
Read moreBathroom had mould in it. Had to ask for hairdryer as rooms do not have them as standard. Matress was hard and uncomfortable. The pillows were not fluffy as advertised. Breakfast was ok but staff were not sticking up regularly.
Put sign on door before 11 as stated to get new towels and coffee. Only two towels replaced and coffee was not restocked.
When we got there we wanted a shower after 7 hours travelling. We had to Wim Hoff the shower as there was no hot water. When we went to complain we were told they had forgot to turn the boiler on.
In the room there were three sockets for power. Two did not work. Three people staying all with devices that needed charging. Was not great situation.
No handwash in dispenser.
My daughter who is 6 was very disappointed with breakfast. The orange juice was so watered down that she had little to drink that she liked. The fruit offered she didn’t like and she loves fruit. Her words were “the apples are soft and brown and horrid mummy”.
It's a nice enough location. The hotel is basic. We paid over the odds for the room as everywhere else was sold out. And I can now understand why this hotel does not have more visitors.
I wouldn’t stay here again when visiting the lake district.
Rooms do not seems to be cleaned daily.
I am ok with basic but for me this hotel needs staff to clean the bathrooms properly, restock breakfast items when depleted, needs staff to remember to turn the boiler on so customers paying over £170 for a night at least can have a hot shower, and have more plug sockets installed...
Read moreMy recent stay at Cockermouth Travelodge left me with mixed feelings. Nestled amidst breathtaking scenery, this location offers a tranquil escape and serves as an ideal stopover for travelers. However, while the surroundings were indeed to die for, certain aspects of my experience fell short of expectations.
Firstly, the positives: the location couldn't be better for those seeking to explore the beauty of the Lake District or for travelers looking for a convenient stopover en route to other destinations. The serene ambiance and picturesque views provided a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Moreover, the accommodations were comfortable and well-maintained, ensuring a pleasant stay. The staff members were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive impression of the establishment.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the dining experience. Despite being charged restaurant prices, the quality of the food on offer was disappointing. The dishes I sampled were mediocre at best. Soggy onions rings and cold cheap chips. Given the abundance of culinary options in the area, I had expected more from the on-site restaurant.
In conclusion, Cockermouth Travelodge offers a delightful setting and comfortable accommodations, making it an attractive choice for travelers seeking a scenic retreat or a convenient stopover. However, improvements are needed in the dining department to elevate the overall...
