8th-10th June 2023: Back again in our favourite place, with the added bonus of the Boot Beer Festival. Can't thank Sam and Drew enough for their hospitality behind the Outside Bar. It was a pleasure to be your barflies!. Have to mention pub dog Nellie too who kept Archie company numerous times.
23rd-26th May 2022: staying in Boot, The Woolpack is approximately a 20-30 minute walk from the centre of Boot. Not an unpleasant walk (if it's dry) and definitely worth it. A great selection of ales, lagers and ciders. We didn't try the food, but the pizzas looked amazing. The Woolpack has a pool table and large projector tv for sport, 2 main bars, beautiful gardens out front and is dog friendly. Welcoming, pleasant staff, and the pub dog Nellie played with our Archie! Safe and secure surroundings, outdoor seating and a small firepit to take the chill off the evening air. Clean and spacious inside. Despite the distance, worth a visit or two! Due to the large selection of ciders, we opted for several halves of several flavours. Predominantly Lilleys and Snails Bank flat ciders, such as mango, tropical and raspberry ripple. I've been coming to...
Read moreWe booked 3 nights in the spa room, with breakfast and supper included. We also got a packed lunch on one day. We later found out this was the last weekend they were open until later in January, and in fact we were the only guests on our last night. We were still made to feel welcome, and the service was proactive.|This is an excellent location for walks, and the hotel caters to walkers/hikers.||The room was cosy, warm and comfortable, yes, a little tired, but quiet, good bed, large TV, everything works. We slept very well.|The jacuzzi bath was very welcome after a cold wet day tramping around the Hardknott Roman fort and pass; the only regret is that we couldn't see anything out of the roof window because of the cloud cover. On a clear night, this would be spectacular.|Breakfast offered a good range of meals, and the evening meals were also very tasty. The mutton chili sounded a bit strange, but was fantastic--not too spicy, flavourful, and a healthy portion size. The only downside of food is that the packed lunch (sandwich, biscuit, fruit) felt a little overpriced, especially after we realised (the next day) that we hadn't been given any fruit. However, we didn't want to fuss around packing in our own food, and there's nowhere else to...
Read moreI stayed at Woolpack while doing circular walk around the Lakes with my 11 year old son.||Having had a hideous walk in the wind and rain from Torver to Eskdale over the Old Man we were delighted to get to Woolpack and were given a warm welcome on our arrival. ||Given its location it’s very much a walkers pub and is well geared up for walkers arriving west through with a drying room and no judgement on muddy boots, etc. ||The room was quite tatty and in need of some TLC however the bathroom was more like the standard of a high end boutique hotel! It was lovely and very welcomed given we were cold and wet.||The pub was great with lovely local beer and great atmosphere, 100% authentic and what a good Lakeland pub should be. We had wood fired pizza as the main meals had stopped as we had arrived late and it was very nice. ||A highlight was undoubtedly the breakfast which was delicious and again more akin to a higher end hotel - lovely local ingredients beautifully presented. The real highlight was the slightly eccentric chap that looked after us and offered a true example of great hospitality!||We would...
