Let’s start with the positives;|Idyllic rural location in the nature|A lot of potential to become something very special |Waggons are spread out and have outdoor privacy||Ok here’s the “room for improvement”|Better signage for the accommodation so you know where to turn off the lane and park, and where you are supposed to check in.|Initial check-in greeting was very indifferent and not warm, no service with a smile.|Waggon was run down hasn’t seen a broom or cloth in a long time, it looked so sad and neglected. |Outside dining table not wiped clean, hammock covered in nature’s debris, outside fire pit still greasy pan from previous guests. We felt like we were not welcome. The self-compost toilet was an absolute disgrace (poo |& paper from previous guests) the toilet cabin had not seen a brush in a long time, full of cobwebs. I know we are in the nature but honestly it’s all about maintenance and keeping on top of things. For £120 a night i would expect that whatever outside facilities are being offered should at least be useable upon arrival and not looking like noone has cleaned anything in months or not cleaned from previous guests. |We were so disappointed because this was part of our one week summer holiday we decided not to stay as we would not be able to relax and feel comfortable. We had already paid up front so we didn’t feel guilty for leaving without staying for at least one night, and i was too upset to get into a debate with the owner about asking for a partial refund. We stayed in a hotel down the road instead. The fact that we were the only ones staying in peak summer season also gave us a hint that this place has probably seen better days.|The website creates a wonderful outdoor nature paradise expectation but the reality is very different to the photos on the website. Such a shame ! We were so looking forward to it and in the right hands this little place could...
Read moreOh this was such a disappointing stay, booked by my partner as, a, surprise break. The photos on the booking site were not in any way reflective of the sad, tired and dirty place we visited. The gypsy wagon itself given its over a hundred years old was charming and in fairness the bed comfortable but nothing about this place represented value for the £120 a night charge. It feels like there's a real backstory here with the owner, we had paid up front so decided to make the best of it which we did being the only people staying. The price included full English breakfast which I'm glad we never got to sample after the toast, orange juice and coffee I opted for, toilets were filthy caked in dried excrement and everything dusty and covered in cobwebs. The local pubs were closed two of the three nights and closed early due to staff shortage when we tried to book a table. Owners dog defacated right in the middle of our seating area... I could go on on the upside WiFi was good and it gave the true feeling of going back to nature. It wasn't hideous but I'm a very practical and pragmatic person it just represented incredibly poor value. Other review sites gave accounts of the owner becoming confrontational when part refunds were asked for so we didn't bother. Don't be fooled by the website picture must be...
Read moreMy family and I booked out the site for two nights at the start of July. Let me start by saying that it’s a lovely spot and the gypsy wagons are very beautiful. But, as some other reviews have mentioned, it is not very clean and pretty rundown. ||||The toilets in particular were unsanitary, with old dried pop on them, and my wife’s one was partially blocked with toilet paper and poo. We are used to compost toilets, but this was not remotely sanitary. ||||Anyway, my daughter got very sick after the first night, and whilst we can’t be 100% sure whether this was from the facilities, it’s seemed very likely. She was so ill I booked my wife, daughter and the baby into a nearby hotel for there second night instead.||||I wrote to the owner prior to leaving this review to ask for a partial refund for that night, and he was quite unpleasant about it. So, all in all, a real shame, as with some more care and cleaning it...
