The location is amazing, lovely views across the lake, great time walking around. Really welcoming staff providing a great service. Allowed free parking for my coach across the road. No phone reception at all. Luckily had WiFi. Room was tiny with only a bunk bed sink and a bedside cabinet in. It had a tiny skylight window in which only opens so much. Shared toilet and shower facilities which were next to my room and were clean but small. Had an annoying water pump system which kept me up most the night.

The youth hostel known as Snowdon Ranger lies between Rhyd Ddu and Caernarfon in the Snowdonia National Park of North Wales. It offers dormitory accomodation and family rooms as well as evening meals and breakfast. Self catering is also possible. The staff are very helpful. I can recommend a stay there.

I'm a school teacher working in Zürich Switzerland who came here with two classes in June 2025. I'll post here what some of our students had to say. Cassian, 14 During my school's recent stay in Wales, YHA Snowdon Ranger was our residence, The walls were broken, the air was stale, But Warren was the light - here is the evidence

Whilst it was raining, Warren was so very cheerful, The hostel straining, Yet the stay was purely blissful.

Finn, 14 Warren (and tony of course) are possibly the nicest people in Wales. Felt very welcomed and the food was exquisite. Although the rooms could need some new windows and possibly new beds, which arent made out of metal. In the first floor bathroom it could use a door so people in the hallway cant look in. Otherwise top hostel.

Alma, 14 Warren was a Great guy. He made is feel welcome from the second we stept into the Hostel. There was a beautiful lake 1min away from the Hostel. Overall the Hostel was nice but the Windows wouldnt properly Open so the air was a Bit stuffy.

Christian, 14

THE HOSTEL:

Clean friendly slightly aged YHA. Friendly staff but strict about entry time earliest 5pm. No staff during day so cannot access during day-time unless you are already staying there when you get the combination code to the front door. This code changes daily. If you arrive early in bad weather, there is access at the side of the building to the drying room and a corridor with power plugs, but no access to the kitchen or phone etc. No mobile phone signal (there is phone signal in the paid car park 100m further along the road). WiFi in lounge, okay when not many people are on it, but almost unusable during the times when the reception desk is open (very very slow). Access via the cloud, so you just log on. No WiFi in rooms unless you are just above or are close to the lounge WiFi router. Licenced bar. If you want dinner or breakfast you HAVE TO order in advance. Packed lunches can also be ordered in advance. Like at other YHA youth hostels you have to bring your own bath towel or hire one (bed linen provided free). Staff arrive at about 7am. Payphone in front hall. Bus stop in front. 2 car parking spaces (free in front of building, and another 5 or so on the opposite side of the road. Post box in front of the building. Good powerful showers on the top floor (large shower room, your dry clothes may also get wet), seems to be less powerful in the first floor. Nice and warm on the top floor. Games room on first floor with ? Pool table. Some books and games in the ground floor lounge. Good kitchen. Great drying room. About 200m from turning to start of Snowdon Ranger path up Snowdon...
