Iâve waited long enough for a reply to my complaint before posting this review but havenât received a response.
Spent Easter weekend here, after a previous visit to park dean elsewhere, we decided to take our touring caravan to Vauxhall. Paid ÂŁ15 for priority check in, we were the first to check in on the touring field which was pretty empty when we arrived. Within a hour it started to fill up with a large majority of travellers. Thought nothing to it.
Got sorted and popped out to get essentials. When we returned the security were having issues with what appeared to be travellers arriving with booking conformations after one van went through the gates at speed the gates were locked awaiting the police, Vauxhall is on a main road with a lot of traffic however guests were left In the middle of a very busy road waiting to get into the park. The police arrived however didnât make any effort to resolve the traffic neither did the staff on site. Police spent most of the weekend on site from this point. Eventually allowed back on site to be met by a heck of a lot more vans than expected 98% travellers. I have no issue with travellers at all however the behaviour of some made it so our children were able to play out, they couldnât use the play park they were sworn at and intimidated, the pool has a booking system, we booked like other guests however the booking system wasnât applicable to them they just ran in as soon as the receptionist turned her back. The pool was overcrowded and filthy. The poor guy in the arcade was struggling to keep the younger travellers from trashing gaming equipment.
The staff were over loaded and unable to deal with the issues on site the attitude was to not resolve or get involved.
Apparently extra security was brought on site. This didnât stop travellers coming in via other cars and methods some ended up setting up camp on the entrance the Vauxhall, from videos posted on other social media platforms these families had bookings that were cancelled upon arrival due to over crowding however if they only let in who was booked this family wouldnât have pitched up outside with their young baby!
The site itself was tired in places, showers and pool needed a good clean and bleach, touring pitches were covered in litter, the travellers near us didnât use the provided bins they just piled it up next to the van. Litter was blowing around the touring pitches.
Not once did you see a cleaner, security spent the weekend trying to look busy, however we found them extremely rude I fully appreciate it wasnt a usual weekend however their manner of dealing with things was awfulâŚ.referring to guests as scumbags.
We went to complain however reception werenât interested in complaints they just tell you to wait for a feedback email which you complete and get the most insincere apology youâve ever read. However once your off site they have your money and the attitude is they simply they donât care. Iâve also made a formal complaint to which itâs been a week and nobody has answered.
My children were so excited to go here, they wanted to see the characters they knew from a previous holiday it was supposed to be a family break away to relax with the kids but it ended it been awful we left early as it was horrendous. There are multiple videos posted to social media platforms from this weekend please google them before considering booking!
We left the site early there was no check out or anything based on how many vehicles with tow bars were on that site without caravans it would be very easy to take a caravan without anyone knowing!
If you want a holiday park break I would avoid all park deans, you come away wishing youâd set fire to your money! You send feedback or raise a formal complaint and hear nothing,...
Read moreWe have just returned home following a week long stay at Vauxhall holiday park and as a family cannot fault it. The caravan was spacious and very clean, perfect for what we needed (we had the added bonus of being situated right on top of the main complex/reception).||We enjoyed the activities around site, including the family karts and mini golf as well as swimming and the football session run by Daniel, who was very engaging and patient during the session. ||Our Son managed to meet every member of the Starland Krew (his favourite being Sparky) he even managed to have a picture with each of them, which was one of the many highlights of his holiday. ||We were booked onto a number of the daytime activities all of which were well organised and inclusive. The nighttime entertainment was enjoyed by all the family with something different every night. We particularly enjoyed the dayglo in the dark puppet show which kept every member of our family engaged throughout the whole show.||We were greeted well by every one that worked on site with smiles and nothing but politeness. However, we have a few members of the Parkdean team at Vauxhall (particularly the entertainment team) that we believe deserve the extra recognition for their hard work and going the extra mile for not only our son but our whole family. ||Chloe; An amazing entertainer, keeping everyone engaged with her bubbly personality. A wonderful singer during her own set as well as performing with others. She flawlessly covered for 2 other singers taking on the parts of 3 singers during the ABBA tribute on very short notice.||Jess; Another brilliant entertainer and dancer, always happy and smiley and made the effort to speak to our son whenever we saw her (even when she was not working). ||Josh; A wonderful entertainer and host, kept adults and kids engaged with his high energy. Our son particularly enjoyed the play tots, milkshake mornings and paw patrol missions with himself and Nicole. ||Nicole; another fantastic entertainer and dancer, getting involved with the children in the evening entertainment and during any daytime activities (as mentioned above) that she was part of. ||Tracie; the entertainment manager and also a great and engaging entertainer. Particularly during the squishies making activity, adding a personal touch getting involved and chatting with our son. ||Joe and Ian; the tech guys that were also very happy to get involved in the entertainment which was a welcomed bonus.||Kirsten; unfortunately we were unable to get to know Kirsten on a personal level due to her falling ill towards the beginning of our stay. However, we did manage to catch her performances in the musicals and festival performances, of which we can say she is a very talented singer. ||We would like to say a very big thank you to the entertainment team for making our holiday as great as it was, going the extra mile and stopping for a chat with us whenever we saw them around the camp, getting to know us and making our son feel very special. They even made sure they caught us on our final night to ensure they said goodbye. It is this friendliness and personal touch that has meant we have already booked another break at this park. We cannot wait to be back...
Read moreDisappointing! We booked this as a last minute week away with our 15 month old as from the website it seemed to have the perfect amount of facilities for a baby his age. Swimming, a splash pool and soft play. Soft play specifically was the decision maker as he really needs somewhere to run around. We were disappointed to see that soft play was closed for maintenance when we arrived . Even more disappointing was that we asked 4 different people when it would be open and what the issue was and got a different answer each time. At first we were told they were waiting for a part to come in so it can be fixed, then that the swimming pool leaked and there was sewage in the soft play that needed to be deep cleaned?! The soft play is not attached to the swimming pool, in fact it is in the arcade where all of the electrical arcade machines were seemingly unaffected, what a miracle! No smell of sewage either! Two other people we asked just said they didnât know so the swimming pool leaking couldnât have been big news on site. We also found out it had been closed for two weeks already so it would have been nice to have been informed of this before hand or they should at least take it off the website as a facility for the time being.
The opening times for the pool are not advertised. We came twice to be told they were closing for activities at 4.30pm. The splash park seemed impossible to book or know if it was open. Door was always closed with a sign saying pool closed and no availability to book online all week so another thing our son couldnât do.
Messy play was held in the arena, a dark room with no natural light, just big bright spotlights shining in his eyes so he wasnât a fan of that either, seemed odd to not hold it in the craft room. Craft room was also locked all week which was a shame as we could see some age appropriate toys inside, some smaller soft play items and a tunnel etc.
We also had an issue with the cot that we had booked and paid for. Firstly that it wasnât there when we checked in, had to chase that. Also, when booking a cot they do tell you that a mattress and bedding isnât included (I personally think that makes it pointless) but arranged our own based on the measurements on their website. When the cot finally arrived, it was much much smaller and our mattress didnât fit! So the options were for our son to sleep on a piece of cardboard they call a mattress that came with the cot or inevitably end up in bed with us. Could have saved room in our car had they had the correct measurements when booking. As small as the cot was, it still didnât fit in the bedroom. We had to play Tetris with the existing furniture to try and fit the cot somewhere safe and suitable.
All in all, not worth the time, effort or money. Wouldnât come again.
In fact, in the end we left a day early, with nothing for our son to do and not a decent bed for him to sleep in it just wasnât worth staying and sitting around the apartment.
To end on a positive the staff in the reed cutters restaurant were lovely. Very warm and welcoming and lovely to our son. They are the only reason I am not...
