Couple - 3 night stay Friday 29/11/24 - check in Called at the Triumph bar at 16.30 there was customer leaving with a pint, as I walked to the bar the barman said 'sorry we don't open until 17.00 but continued to serve people. We went to the bar opposite the Triumph bar and waited in a queue of people for over 30 mins to be served, the bar people were faffing taking turns wandering between the two bars. There were a lot of impatient customers No welcome pack / info in the room, no mineral water or biscuits at the tea and coffee station.
Saturday 30/11/24 The shower gel ran out Saturday morning , I left a note for housekeeping. Breakfast was disappointing, no black pudding , no hash browns, hard fried eggs - We didn't realise you could order poached eggs etc as there was no menu on the tables until the third morning . We returned around 16.30 - bed made , towels changed, coffee cups still dirty and shower gel still empty. We appreciate the Hotel was busy and oversights do happen.
Sunday 01/12/24 We had a poor nights sleep Saturday night as there was a phone vibrating intermittently all night next door by the headboard. We returned at around 16.00 and asked what time the MPW grill was open to be told it doesn't open on Sundays. There was no mention of this anywhere pre or post booking. The room had not been serviced , bed not made, towels still in bath , still no shower gel , low on toilet roll The housekeeper knocked on the door - asked if we wanted the room doing we declined and she gave us towels a few little tubes of shower gel and a toilet roll, she did offer to make the bed, empty the bins, and fetch more toilet rolls if we wanted. I would suggest the priority should be occupied and check in rooms first. We went to the Triumph Restaurant at about 19.30 - there was a strong cannabis smell half way down the bedroom corridor. At the entrance to the Triumph Restaurant there is a lectern and a sign that says 'Please Wait to be Seated' - We were shown to our table and a few minutes later were asked if we wanted to order drinks, when the drinks came we were asked if we were ready to order food and ordered. A few minutes later we were asked to pay - apparently the policy had changed and there is no longer table service, you now have to order at the bar and pay, we refused and asked to see a manager, a supervisor came out and suggested we put our card in a lockbox behind the bar and gave us a fob to get our card back my partner agreed to avoid a scene. He offered a 10% reduction and complimentary drinks. I don't recall ever being treated so badly anywhere else, embarrassingly childish. This was the final straw. After eating we spoke to reception to express our disappointment with the whole stay , The receptionist got the duty manager to speak to us which was interesting. He treated my partner differently when I returned from the toilet. He apologised and asked what he could do to make things right. Reception then rang our room at 22.33 to check they had the correct room number for their report.
The room was either too hot or too cold - I found the thermostat control on the last night on the radiator hidden by the curtain - the one by the bed on the skirting board is for the towel rail in the bathroom I think. The room was not very clean with mouldy net curtains , dead moth in light and dust all over the fabric walls by the bed.
Monday 02/12/24 So pleased to be leaving .
I appreciate that the hotel was busy due to holiday season but there seems to be a total lack of management - the staff need motivating and managing. Maybe there are not enough staff to cope with a full Hotel, Conferences and Xmas parties ? I have stayed in a lot of Premier Inns due to work and expected better of Leonardo's , Unfortunately Premier Inns have better beds, better breakfast and better service and they don't host Xmas parties. I lived locally for over 30 years and the Hinckley Island Hotel had a reputation which unfortunately is no longer warrantied. All in all a very disappointing stay - I would advise personal...
Read moreAbsolutely horrendous! Firstly we did not realise that you had to book a swimming session as we had booked through Booking.com and it did not say this until we received a confirmation email. When we got there, we were told you were only allowed to use the facilities once a day and had to book a time. Bloody ridiculous! The facilities were why we booked the hotel. Upon using the pool area, it was so ridiculously busy and noisy that you could not use anything, and this was adult only sessions. You certainly wouldn't think so though, as the so called adults were behaving worse than kids shouting and taking over every area. These were guests at the wedding they had there the last night. No staff member did anything at all to help. It also looked nothing like the photos on Booking.com and their website. There were afew plastic chairs around the pool and a couple of broken sofas with no cushions. It was also dirty and in serious need of renovation and repair, and the furniture was broken. Two couples told us that they were very dissapointed with the hotel and a man came storming out of the leisure area shouting at how busy and loud it was. We only ended up going swimming once because of this, and that was literally for about 20 minutes as the noise and uncleanliness was just too much to bare We went for a quiet, relaxing weekend away. We did NOT get it. We stayed bank holiday weekend. Was an event the first night which went on til early hours of the morning and the people were running around and shouting in the corridors. The next night there was a wedding, that wasn't too bad, but you could not get served as the wedding guests took over. The last night there was another wedding that literally took over the hotel. It was not confined to the room that they had hired. Was a struggle to get through the corridors as the wedding guests were everywhere and didn't move, when you were trying to get past. Then in the evening, the wedding drinks were served in the main foyer, in the middle of the hotel..you could not get through to get to your room, you had to wall past all these dressed up people taking photos in your swimwear! Totally unacceptable, it was like any other guest in the hotel shouldnt be there! The managers were absolutely useless. There are so many more things that went wrong that I could literally write pages. The hotel cares more about the weddings and events than the individual guests. Which was very clear as we heard more than just afew people complaining to reception. We had room service and the food was awful! I had a simple serving of Tuna sandwich and kettle crisps. I got a tuna sandwich with barely any filling and doritos, even though I asked the lady about the type of crisps, she said they were proper kettle crips and plain 🤔 My boyfriend had steak, and believe me, its not cheap! He barely ate any, as was so chewy and full of fat. For what you pay we expected quality, didn't get that either. We have stayed in many hotels, and never in my life have we had such a terrible experience. Bins overflowing around hotel, leisure area awful, rooms in serious need of upgrading and a deep clean, No tv channels, food terrible, management extremely poor and if you go there as a couple or small family, especially when they have some event going on you will not get looked after. I would NOT recommend this hotel, as you've probably guessed by now. I went to reception for about thd 10th time, spoke to a different manager about the whole experience and that the photos advertised were not the same and misrepresentation of the leisure area in particular. She gave us back half the money we paid. But in reality they should have given us back the whole lot, as so so many things went wrong. And we can't ever get that time back. This was the first break we had in such a long time as my boyfriend has been so busy with work, as im sure more than afew of you that read this would totally relate to. I've added afew photos and a short video of the level of noise Unfortunately I did not take my phone into the...
Read moreDon't normally leave reviews but feel like I must... Booked 2 rooms, 1 family superior, 1 executive with breakfast. For 2 nights First impressions were good, staff friendly, Ann Marie (manager) was lovely and helpful and assisted with some queries I had. Rooms were lovely and big, but on closer inspection. The extras we had paid for were nowhere to be seen, in either room. Brushed it off not wanting to complain about a few petty things missing. Went to the triumph bar to order food, was ripped off with one of the kids meals, staff couldn't care less. Again brushed it off. Woke up the next morning went for breakfast... What a disaster, only bacon and sausages left, time waiting for things to be topped up was shocking, no coffee in the machine, staff run off their feet but not one smile on their faces. I get the impression most staff couldn't care less. We got back went for a swim 5 till 6 with the kids. It was absolutely packed. Couldn't enjoy it as it was far too full. Went down for tea at the triumph bar and what an absolute disaster, we were told to order from the other bar as it was too busy, so we walks to the other bar for them to then ignore us and go serve in the original bar we were in. Took forever for someone to help the new lad check our order which was still put through wrong, we felt so sorry for staff being left in the lurch, after paying we were then told its over an hours wait for food, so I said you have just let me order food for a 3 year old then told me over an hour. We noticed lots of food being sent back, we waited over 40 minutes for a latte and a j20 from the other side of the bar, we did get a refund on whole order as an apology and we thought that was it, until our food was brought out and given to the table next to us, they started eating it and realised it wasn't there's so I pulled a waiter and I said that's ours... So they then moved it to our table.. And said they would change what was eaten... It was freezing cold, we didn't ask for anything fancy, cheesy garlic bread and kids chicken strips and chips and katsu curry's. Due to delays we ended up partially eating cold mains then the starters were brought out... By this time the kids were past being hungry and were over tired. I went to complain at reception ramona was no where to be seen but the lady on the desk was lovely and gave me a partial refund on the stay. We went back to our room and noticed when getting into bed the sheets were ripped and the duvet cover had a big hole in it. Breakfast on the second day was much better it was quiet, woman on the front didn't seem interested though as she was staring into space and took a while to even acknowledge us, I almost gave up and walked past her. Upon check out Ann Marie the manger who we first spoke to asked me how everything was so I explained and she said she read the report last night and wasn't impressed. She did offer to do more for me and did go out of her way to give me her email if I wish to stay there again. So I cannot thank her enough. Only just got home so can't decide if I ever will return but on the whole I've never ever received such bad service in a hotel. All bar the few nice ones in there.
The over all impression you got from staff was you were a burden and they couldn't be bothered. Like how dare you book a night away
Hotel would benefit from more communal bins, might save people leaving dirty nappy bags out side of the room stinking the...
