Il start with the postive we book this hitlon 2 years ago for our big day, the day was fantastic, but this was INSPITE of all this hotel had put me and my friends and family through. The staff on the wedding day were excellent so thank you for that.

Now for the hotel. We arrived to a building site, we booked this 2 years ago and were told the hotel would be complete, it could only benefit us as guest would have the experience of brand new rooms and spa area.. the photos i attached will give u a brief insight of the stay.

We had booked over 30 rooms in the hotel, people coming from england belfast and as far as canada, most for their first visit to n.ireland. this is what they were greeted with. The reception staff are the worst employees i have come across in hospital. Upon my guest arriving , one lady in a wheelchair couldnt access front entrance as it blocked so had to go down the side filled with dust and plywood, one of my guest couldnt access their room to 6pm they arrived at 12 noon. The reception staff were then trying to charge my guest different prices even though most had booked via a link we had at a set rate.

These reception staff were then caught talking about myself, the groom on the morning of my wedding while some my guests were arriving, they didnt care not professional or competent enough to realise the hotel had over 100 guest of mine there already. They gave my groomsman a key to a room which was the bridal party room, he was so embrassed an angry when he went to his room and walked in on the bridal party getting changed.

Now the event management team.. we have had 6 different wedding co ordinators in the time we booked the wedding.. most left the company, this was a warning sign.. it was relyed back to me that one of the event team was using my wife as an example of a difficult bride in an event management training day.. a friend was there and was able to communicate back to me. how totally unprofessional, id love to know what was difficult as we had the stress of going over the details for the wedding and room planning with 6 different co ordinators as they were incapable of passing correct information.

My father in law was charged for his complimentary stay and had to be refunded which took alot of time away from his day before the wedding with his family.

After we had checked out 3 hours later i was visiting my fathers grave site paying my respects only to receive a message from my bank to say hilton Templepatrick had tried to take 573.70 from our account,, we paid for everything in advance 2 weeks before the wedding, and paid for our stay also.. we still waiting to here back why we they attempted to charge this amount.

In closing this review o had sat with the manager cormac and ask for compensation as this is not what we had booked. Cormac spike with the owner and the message given to me in the late afternoon the day before my wedding was if you dont like it CANCEL YOUR WEDDING... that was the owner response.. he said he refund us on the sunday which was totally hurtful and made me very upset... there are alot more issues but this review is long enough... please guys this is a warning to anyone thinking of a stay in this hotel under...

Went there for afternoon tea as a party of 9 people. Shared a tray stand between 2 people. Only 2 different types of sandwiches, scrambled egg on granary bread and ham salad on white bread. Not a great selection of sandwiches and the granary bread was a bit hard and stale, could have been a lot fresher. Only 2 small plain scones that could have been a lot bigger, could have got a bigger packet of scones in the petrol station en route. Good selection of jams, butter and clotted cream with strawberries for scones. Varied selection of nice mini slices of cake and cheesecakes which were nice and fresh. As we did not finish off all the cakes we were given plastic containers to take home the uneaten cakes which was handy. Eventhough I believe you can get refills of tea and coffee included in the price we did order cappuccinos, Americano and lattes at no extra cost which was good. As this was my first time having afternoon tea I thought it was alright. Staff friendly and helpful but need more staff at the bar or wherever the coffee is made as it sometimes took a while to get fresh coffee once ordered. A better select of sandwiches with fresher bread would be great as your in trouble if you don't like ham salad or scrambled egg. When you are paying for scones in a hotel you would expect to get a decent size of handmade scone and not the sort that come in a 6 pack of plane scones for a pound at Tesco's. To be honest it was alright but from taking to others there they felt that they have had better afternoon tea elsewhere. The reason we went there was because some of the group had afternoon there before but we're disappointed it was not as good as the last time. If there was a better selection of sandwiches and the scones did not look like they came out of a supermarket, I'd say it would be a 5 star experience for the price as the staff were courteous and the hotel was nice and clean. Thought there would have been more people having afternoon tea there but only 1 other group when we arrived and a different group when we left. As we ended up going to the bar before and after the tea I'd say it would be a great wee earner if they could attract more people to the hotel with a better...

Summary - another excellent Hilton hotel but slightly spoiled by a no room service and all food availability ending at 9pm As my regular (ha!) readers will know I am a great fan of Hilton Hotels and will stay at one whenever I am away. My usual Belfast choice (Lanyon) was full so I tried this one about 20 mins drive outside of the city and up towards International Airport. The main selling point is the golf course and leisure facilities which I did not use of…all I wanted was some food and a good nights sleep. I arrived at 8:55 pm and checked in no problem. When I asked about food I was quite surprised to hear that all food sales ended at 9pm and there was absolutely no room service. Luckily for me I managed to get to the restaurant at 8:58 and the excellent staff supplied some excellent soup (they would have cooked a full meal but I didn’t want that) The room itself was excellent (really really excellent) and I have no complaints at all. It was perfect. With respect to breakfast I was a bit disappointed and it wasn’t up to the usual Hilton standards (I am thinking of Newcastle Gateshead and Tower Bridge in London). The offering wasn’t as good (just less choice) and it just didn’t look that appealing. Don’t get me wrong it was perfectly nice but just not as good as other Hilton’s. Although I am complaining a bit don’t let this put anyone off. It’s a really good hotel with excellent rooms. Just eat before 9 and don’t have too many expectations for breakfast.
