Holiday
We came here in April and loved it so much that we booked again for 7 nights in August.
Upon arrival I was disappointed to find that the lodge was not as clean as you’d expect. The kitchen had crumbs all over the counters, the dishes were dirty and the dishwasher was full of dirty water that looked like someone had washed a ground coffee or a tea pot in it. We had to take our time to clean the dishwasher out and clean the kitchen. The floors were also not clean in the living area. There was a glass that was broken and I managed to slice my finger open quite badly on that.
Nevertheless though, the lodge is lovely. The views across the lake are beautiful and it’s very tranquil. The hot tub is well maintained.
The only issue I would have with returning in summer would be that it’s so hot in the lodges because the windows have no covering at all, you can’t really sit inside at all until the sun goes down. Toward the end of our week it was in the high 20’s and we struggled. Flies were literally dropping out of the air and dying whilst we were out for the day - just to give an idea as to how hot it is inside. It’s like a greenhouse.
The upstairs bedroom was unbearable. I had to buy paper to put up at the windows because the sun just streams through in the morning at 5am and the blinds don’t really do much. The bed was rock hard and really uncomfortable.
Overall this is a beautiful place and the lodges are beautiful. It could just do with some tweaks. We had a washing machine that left my clothes smelling of mould and when I checked, the rubber seal with thick with black gunk. The fridge struggled in the heat too.
I’d say that the lodge we had this time (27) seemed older than the previous lodge we had (22) because the decor was different and things seemed more ‘used’. When you pay over the odds for this sort of accommodation, you feel that better cleaning and better upkeep of furniture is expected.
That said, we would, absolutely, without a doubt, come back again. I’d like to see some small changes...

Read moreStayed Monday to Friday.. We arrived to villa number 11 and was amazed how beautiful and spotless the place was... we were a family of 6 and none of us felt crammed in. I cooked every night in the well equipped kitchen with ease. We were to take our dogs but had to leave one at home so decided not take any... there was no sign of dogs ever being in the villa it was so clean. THE WHOLE PLACE IS DISABLED FRIENDLY which is very nice to see as 2 of our party are physically challenged, they enjoyed going around the park. Hot tub is the best we've had and towels for this are in cupboard above bins in kitchen.. Able to wash these daily in the supplied washer. If I was to moan it was lack of info before arriving about only being allowed to use ecover type cleaning products.. so I went to booths and rebrought cleaning products I'd brought with us.. I left the washing up and dishwasher tabs behind for the next visitors in hope it helps. In all we will all be returning for another stay, hopefully for longer as there's so much to see and do. If you get to stay in number 11 look over the back in to Lake and you will see plenty of crayfish living in the rocks. Oh and take duck food there's plenty...
