We had stayed here several years ago and felt the rooms were dated but it was handy for an overnight stay this weekend. We arrived around 7pm. There was obviously an event being held in the hotel as the car park was full. After 5 minutes of going around the car park we eventually managed to squeeze in a space. We were then delayed at reception as they couldnt find our booking. But once sorted we headed to our room. The room was tired and in need of an update just like the the time before. The main door looked as if a dog had been scratching it, paint marks on the walls and stains on part of the carpet. The tiny bathroom look like it was from a 1970s council flat. The door didnt shut properly, the walls were shabby, marks on the toilet seat and in the bath and the shower wouldnt stop dripping. But the bed was clean, sink was spotless and we were only staying for one night so we could put up with the poor decor. We went to eat in the restaurant which was nice and the food was good. On the way back to our room we past the private hire hall which had loud music coming from it. Not a problem until we climbed the stairs and followed the corridor to our room - that was directly above the hall. The bass of the music and the dj's microphone could be felt right through the floor so much so that we could tell what songs were playing. I gave it 30 miutes before I went to reception saying our room was above the hire hall and asking what time the party was finishing. I was told 11pm and that there was only one other room available in the hotel if we wanted to swap rooms. I declined room swapping as 11pm wasnt too late for us and we could just turn the tv up to drown the music out. From 10pm the music went quieter. Yes we could hear it, but the bass had gone and it really wasnt an issue any more. Then at 10.45 the bass seemed to be turned back up as well as the dj volume. By 11.30pm I went back down to reception as it was clearly past the 11 o'clock that I had been told. The overnight manager was there and I explained the situation of being told it finished at 11pm, that I was offered to swap rooms and the reasons that we didnt. The manager said to me that he didnt know why we were booked into room 151 when the event hall was in use! I asked him to follow me to outside our room to hear how loud it was and on the way he asked another member of staff what time the party finished. Half 12/1 am was the answer! The manager again said he didnt know why we were put in that room and that he would have the bass turned down. After a few miutes the bass had gone and like before we could still hear the music and the people but at least the floor had stopped vibrating. Time past and then we realized another issue with what the manager had said about our room location. Because the other rooms in our corridor were people from the party, so we had to listen to the creeky floorboards and doors opening and closing. Eventually it all went quite. For those of you old enough to remember Faulty Towers, this is Maidstones version. We gave the hotel a second chance and it failed miserably. Yes we could of swapped rooms but I'm sure it would of been dated like before and at the end of the day, is this a hotel or a disco? Bit dramatic I know, but we might of well slept in a dodgy flat above a night club. We have learned from our mistakes,...

Lisa was the absolute highlight of our stay: warm, professional, and incredibly helpful throughout the weekend. She stood out for her consistent care and attention, and frankly, without her, our group would have walked away even more disappointed. Unfortunately, not even her brilliance could carry the weight of an underwhelming and outdated hotel experience.
We stayed as a large group for a weekend event, hiring a training room and full catering. While the pool and sauna were appreciated, that’s where the positives end.
The hotel is dated – perhaps impressive in 1990, but shockingly behind in 2025. There was little evidence of recent investment or upkeep. More concerning, though, was the complete lack of DDA-compliant accessibility. Guests were met with random stairs throughout the premises, inconsistent lifts, and little to no clear adjustments or support for those with mobility needs. This created genuine safety issues for some in our group.
Room quality was wildly inconsistent. Only one person out of our entire party had a room without faults. The rest dealt with extremes: water that was scalding hot or not hot at all, visibly poor cleanliness, and no air conditioning or working ventilation during a warm weekend. Comfort was clearly not a priority.
Catering was equally patchy. Despite giving clear instructions on dietary requirements, the kitchen staff repeatedly got it wrong – sometimes forgetting entire meals or serving insufficient quantities. Basic requests like water were treated as afterthoughts, which is unacceptable when hosting paying guests for an organised event.
We had hoped to make this an annual veterans’ event, but the lack of access, comfort, and consistent service made the weekend far more stressful than it needed to be. It’s a real shame – the venue has potential, but without proper investment in staff training, accessibility compliance, and guest experience, it falls very short of what any modern guest should expect from a...
Read moreNoisy! Both in the room and in the restaurant. Comfortable bed! Clean! Great location! Good food! But BE AWARE… very noisy as one can hear neighbouring rooms conversations and tv through the hotel paper thin walls. Unfortunately for my partner and I, our room neighbours were very loud and very disrespectful. They kept talking sooo loud until 2am so I couldn’t sleep. Then, I knocked on the wall to make then aware that other people need sleep, then they kept the volume down for about 5 minutes only. I was not happy with the sleepless night they impose on us so I tried calling reception but nobody answered the phone. I even tried emailing reception. I wasn’t having an easy time, so I went to reception. The receptionist then called our neighbours and asked then to keep the volume down. A hotel employee came with me to my room corridor and stayed 5 minutes outside the door to experience my nightmare by himself. After this, the employee and I decided that it was better if we moved rooms to be able to sleep, therefore, from 2:30am to 3am we were packing and relocating to another room. An absolute nightmare! After soo much stress it took me another hour to be able to sleep. Terrible! I cannot fault the employee who acknowledge the level of noise was unacceptable and supported us in relocating to another room. Very good customer service. So, as a note of advise request a room in a corridor with no, or at least, few neighbours. So you might have a chance to sleep Note, it is not the first time I had trouble with noise in this hotel. In addition to this, the restaurant is super busy breakfast time with queues for the coffee machine. At dinner expect screaming kids and loud people as the design of the restaurant is very open and carries a lot...
