Liked: We visit stonham a lot for days out so we were aware there is lots of activities for the kids there, liked the close proximity of the campsite to the shopping village and activities like crazy golf, football golf etc.
Liked the very warm welcome we recieved when checking in and how accommodating the lady in the office was, she is a credit to the campsite so friendly and helpful!
Like the facilities- the bad reviews of the toilets and shower blocks have put me off booking before (even though we have our own it wasn’t a good sign that the toilets and showers were run down) however surprisingly they were absolutely fine! They were clean and tidy everyday and were kept stocked up with soap and loo roll ! I believe they have been refurbished a little so don’t let previous reviews of the toilets and showers put you off- they are all good :)
Disliked: As we arrived we were asked where we would like to pitch- I said close to the park and out the way of everyone as we like a bit of peace and quiet (most campers were huddled down near reception) so we were shown to a lovely spot near the park away from everyone … however within 5 minutes there was a LOT of noise coming from the other side of the park around the corner, we looked over and there was about 6 caravans pitched up in a group making a racket… kids continuously beeping the car horns, parents shouting at kids, we quickly worked out that they were travellers so spoke to the lady in the office who confirmed this and we were able to move pitch down the other end where everyone else was (now I know why most people weren’t camped up there)
Now we are not judgemental at all however we come away fora relaxing break and so the kids could comfortable cycle around on their bikes and play happily and the presents of the travellers on site gave the campsite a totally different vibe! I felt uneasy and outnumbered and didn’t feel happy letting the kids wonder around like I normally would. I have got to say, the travellers did keep themselves to themselves are were no bother as such however they are CONSTANTLY up and down every 5 minutes in their cars and vans, driving back and forth all day! Which was a bit of a nuisance in the end.
Also we were looking forward to going to the sports bar in the evening so we could play some pool and darts and let the kids play on the machines however many people told us the travellers go in there every night and can get a bit rowdy. We didn’t want this to stop us trying to enjoy our Holliday so went there anyway but it was literally packed with the whole group of travellers! We were totally outnumbered and it wasn’t a pleasant place to have a drink because of this, we had 1 drink and left.
Please be aware of this if you are booking soon because I believe they are going to be...

Read moreFirstly huge thanks to Sandra. Our camping holiday elsewhere was cancelled so we went onto the Stonham Barns website the day before we came to you but it said it was all booked up for electric point pitches for tent camping so we took a shot and called and explained that we needed a last minute booking. Sandra bent over backwards to help us. There were pitches still free with electric points so why the website said you were fully booked I don't know. I explained that one of my daughters is high level ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition) with Hypermobilty which is why we needed a certain kind of space if possible with the electric point which Sandra totally took on board and helped us with. Upon arrival a member of staff from the pottery place happened to be free and showed us where to go and then Sandra made sure we were settled and happy. Everytime I saw Sandra during our stay she was either cleaning the WC and shower facilities to keep them maintained especially due to all the heavy rain and mud people were trekking in as well as asking guests how she could help and telling them how to get hold of her if they needed her. I've worked in customer service for 25 years and honestly I'd hire someone like Sandra in a heartbeat, it's very rare to get someone on staff who cares like that. When the heavy rain came and we had heavy puddles around our tent she and her husband even offered their free time off duty to help us move if we wanted to! Now that's going the extra mile for customer service. The only reason we've not given four stars is because there was limited activities for my SEN daughters needs, as she has special education needs, AKA SEN like most places there is not enough for her to do. The campsite play area was to basic, the fairground was closed, the owl sanctuary does not appeal and the activities in the holiday park did not suit her needs but they did for my other two daughters. If you would like tips and advice on how to improve service for SEN customers I'm full of ideas and happy to be contacted, many places we've been to have asked me to do this as I often have to mention this in the reviews I leave. Good value for money though, the campsite was clean and well organised. Thank you, we'll likely be...
