Went to Lynmouth holiday retreat for a mid week birthday treat from my family. Just me and the wife plus our two dogs. We were in a glamping pod. The pods are fantastic. It has a Small practical fridge the bed was so comfortable I could not believe how nice it was. Some venues scrimp on the bed but not here. Slept like a log. Venues shower and toilet block was spotless showers are excellent as well as the washing area. Crockery washing facilities even have a small dishwasher all done in five minutes. Reception area has a small shop as well. Also a freezer pack fridge for cool boxes if you’re camping is also in the crockery washing area. It has a disabled toilet and a family shower room. Staff very friendly and polite. Also you can order freshly made baguettes to collect the next day to make up for your lunch for the day out. Certain days a pizza van arrives on site and supplies freshly made pizzas. We didn’t have any as already had food lined up but the smell was amazing. We cooked outside with camping gas which was a bit of a struggle on a windy day. Could have done with a microwave in pod to help with cooking. Microwave meals would have been so much easier. Apart from that this place is a little gem. Will definitely be coming back in the future. Also we didn’t have to pay for the dogs. There is also a large enclosed field for dogs which was very well kept. A lot of places charge per dog which was a very nice touch not having to pay. Lynmouth is very local, short drive or a walk nice walks from site to Lynmouth Lynton and watersmeet. Lynmouth has several pubs and restaurants and takeaway venues. Lynmouth holiday retreat is a great base to use to explore the area or even Exmoor national park. The award winning Woolacombe beach for surfing or days out is 21 miles away about half hour in a car. We will definitely be going back again such a loverly venue so peaceful and relaxing. First class.

First of all: Rooms! It's a campsite, so if the room is rubbish, it's our own fault!!! Rooms: Pretty good 👍 👌 🤣😅😂 Service: Everyone we've encountered on the staff have gone out of their way to be pleasant, helpful and they all seem happy to be so! The site itself is very clean, tidy and well organised. Shower, washing etc water was always hot when required and we never had to wait for facilities to become available. There is also a dishwasher, a freezer for blocks and battery pack hire pod. They have a 'chuck wagon' on site that served some very nice food towards the weekend. Not cheap but very tasty and a great setting to eat in. On site shop / reception is useful. If you want walk in the local area, get the £3 1:25,000 mini map of the area. (Watersmeet and the NT cafe are a must, and the walk to it, although short, is pretty, challenging to the unseasoned walker-ie, us!!!). Location: I hope you like hills 🤔. The scenery and views are stunning 😍. The campsite is a few hundred feet above Lynton and Lynmouth and the walks and the views from the walks are breathtaking (literally 😬😉). The site itself has few totally flat tent pitches but it's not a massive issue. As said previously the facilities are among the best we've had whilst camping. NOTE: There is NO clubhouse! 👍👌 which is great if you like more of the quiet side of holidays. Lots to do within an hour of the location either oldies, like us, or families. After camping for some years now, it's the first site we'd come back to! Not because others were bad (they aren't) but because this campsite is so good. Highly recommended 👌 👍.

October half term break, staying in a 2-bedroom static caravan. The park is lovely and quiet, not many people were there in the same week as us. We arrived late on a Friday but the late check-in email made arrival easy and our van was ready and waiting for us. The caravan was clean and had a nice open plan lounge and kitchen area. There was a glimpse of a sea view from our lounge and kitchen, down towards Lynmouth. The park was very dog friendly - the secure dog walking field was great, and there are walks out from the park towards Lynmouth and Watersmeet. The park is dark at night so if you’ve got a dog bring a headtorch, but when it was clear at night you could see the Milky Way, as the skies are so dark (a rare novelty for city dwellers like us). The location was very picturesque and just off the A39, so it was easy to get out exploring the coast and Exmoor. The only slight challenge with the caravan was cooking - in our experience caravan gas ovens never cook food very quickly, and there was only one shelf to cook on - fine if cooking on the hob, but if we visited again i think we’d squeeze our air fryer into the car! But overall a lovely holiday and we would recommend.

Liked: This is one of the friendliest sites I’ve ever stayed on. The staff are so helpful. The pitch sizes are very generous, we stayed on a fully serviced pitch. The campsite is very well kept. With several areas to camp according to what you need/require. With the most amazing views!. You will have to go to see! The toilets and showers are very clean and well maintained. I was amazed when I picked up the hairdryer and the timer started at 20 minutes!!. The star gazing at night is just wow. Its well catered for doggie families with a brilliant walking field just a minute from the camping. The shop sells all the basics you may need. With the added bonus of ordering hot pastries and rolls for each morning. Perfect for the last day breakfast while packing away. The pub (Beggars Roost) was a perfect last night place to eat, good food and reasonably priced no cooking or cleaning up. Lynton and Lynmouth just a short drive away. Exmoor for perfect stargazing also a short drive, I was pleasantly surprised when I asked is there a night curfew for exiting/entering the campsite at night as some have restrictions, they said no as long as you drive slowly when coming back. So we left at 10pm to stargaze at Exmoor and returned around 10.45pm, it was lovely to take the children on a little night time adventure to stargaze. They ask you to turn off awning lights and keep the noise down after 10pm which is respectful to the others. Everyone during our stay adhered to this. Overall this site was brilliant all around. Just beware on which way you drive to it, stick to the option they advise you to come as you will have some surprise hairpins to deal with. I will definitely stay here again and their others sites. Site Wi-Fi was also pretty good but like all sites can be intermittent.

Disliked: Can get very windy as very high up. We experienced a night of very high winds. But this is not the camp sites fault. This is more of a observation than a dislike as there were quite a lot of children on site a play area would be good.

Other than that no...

Liked: Stunning location. Amazing views. Loads to see & do on the area.

Extremely helpful, friendly & flexible staff. Special mention to Agata who always goes that extra mile, thank you!

Small shop reasonably priced.

Laundry was very useful for us as a family. Personally I like the fact there is no kids play park as I prefer them to stay nearer our pitch to enjoy as a family. So many places to take them to everyday, they won’t need wearing out! The possibility of having a little area with some books / games / toys to borrow perhaps would be helpful for families travelling light.

I love the low light policy as it gives you the chance to enjoy the star filled sky. Take a torch if you need to for night time trips to the loo.

Disliked: Pitching a tent in storm Betty ha ha! Shout out to our next door tent neighbours for helping us in gale force winds & pouring rain!! Couldn’t have managed without them. Due to recent weather the pitch was already fairly muddy on arrival. Our pitch was sloping to the point things sliding off of tables, so something to bear in mind if you can wedge something underneath, bring that along in case. Trees could do with a little trim back to avoid overhanging the tent.

Toilets need to be cleaned more often & showers require a deep clean. Press button showers don’t stay on anywhere near long enough. Temperature fluctuates & at times far too hot, especially for children. Could benefit from a hook / shelf in shower to avoid needing toiletries on the floor. Sink cold taps very powerful & creates quite a mess when washing hands.

Possibly a little fence or higher wall to deter some little darlings from climbing all over the stones near the herb planter & throwing them into the road & pitches. Inconsiderate guests recycling their glass very late at night / early morning. Unsure what can be done about that however, other than guests using some common sense and...
