Having stayed in quite a few Premier Inns I have come to know what to expect but we recently stayed at the Premier Inn Lincoln Canwick and we were very disappointed.
We checked in at 3pm went to the room which smelt awful despite the window being open and wasn't clean, there was a toe nail clipping on the carpet, the toilet and vanity unit were dirty, the soap dispenser didn't work, we went back to reception to complain she said there weren't any other family rooms, and she would clean it for when we returned at 6pm. When we returned it was still unacceptable so we had to pay £75 for an additional double room and split up as a family for that night (they don't have any interconnecting rooms at that hotel) and they would move to a different family room the next day. Which they did and the second family room was better certainly not perfect. One of the kids beds the springs were really uncomfortable. It isn't a modern hotel and needs a good clean and an upgrade. Parking is free and it is close to Lincoln.
I have since complained and been refunded the additional room cost but with regards to my complaints about the cleanliness of which they talk of their "CleanProtect Promise" they said it didn't come under their "good night guarantee"and won't discuss it...
Read moreThe hotel itself is very nice and modern with clean comfortable rooms. It is just on the outskirts of Lincoln, but still close enough to to either walk in, or access the road networks by car. When we normally go away as a family we almost always choose Premier Inn as we now exactly what to expect. We did feel however on this occasion the restaurant situated next door let us down. The evening meal we had there on the first night was great. It appeared to us that at breakfast we got the impression they didn't need to try to make ours and other guests experience a good one. At face value they are all minor events, but collectively it all adds up. Fruit juices not chilled, same for the milk and yoghurt all standing at room temperature. A severe lack of choice for pastries to my wife's displeasure. For me it was not all the cooked breakfast items were out at the same time. One other guest had been waiting over 5 minutes for bacon whilst the rest of her breakfast was going cold. The fact the breakfast items were only warm didn't help. That like I said was the restaurant not the hotels fault but hopefully they can do...

Car parking can get short on busy days so arriving early is a must. |The hotel has been extended multiple times from its original construction we stayed in room 11 for our first stay (original building) and room 28 for our second (c. 2007/8 extension)|Our first stay was fine, no complaints, but our second really pushes home the need for Whitbread to update & refurbish this tired part of the building. It's very dated, with just one plug by the bed (city centre Prem. Inn has a plug with USB ports either side of the bed) the metal bath in the bathroom is showing signs of rust, the bath sealant is curling back and the general lighting in the room could be improved but one big positive that made us come back to Canwick over the City Centre Prem. Inn was the fact you can open the windows (albeit just a little bit) rather than just relying on air conditioning alone.|The food is ok but expensive, avoid upgrades. The drinks are unlimited refills but you need to request the refill - you're best off going to the bar directly rather than wait for...
