The Premier Inn accommodation was exactly what you expect from a Premier, comfortable, clean & accessible. We stay at premiers on a twice a year basis, and this one at Ashby was at the standard we have become accustomed to. However, this can't be said for the adjoining restaurant & bar. If you stay at Premiers, you will know that the restaurant brand changes depending on location. This one is a Brewers Fayre. Probably our least favourite of the brands. The restaurant and bar was busy but unfortunately under staffed. My wife and I were joined by four guests for an evening meal. The staff appeared stressed, long queues at the bar with one staff member. There was only two servers for the entire restaurant. This was a Saturday night. You would expect sufficient staffing levels for this evening. I wrote everyone's order on paper and joined the queue at the bar to place our order. The starters did come out within the expected timescale (15 minutes). Then it went completely wrong. It took a further 30 minutes to clear the table ready for our mains. We then waited a further 20 minutes to receive our mains, a total of 40 minutes between courses. The mains arrived, two of the Party had steak, one requested well done & the other med rare. Neither came out as requested. They were taken back to the kitchen, then we were told it would be 15 minutes to receive fresh. After 20 minutes, they still hadn't arrived and the other 4 members had finished. The 2 with steaks decided they no longer wanted them, so I approached management for a resolution. It turns out that there wasn't a member of management present this evening. I asked for a refund of the steaks which was given by the member of staff. The evening was already ruined. The scoring above is purely in relation to the accommodation, which we had no issue. But be warned if you decide to visit the...
Read moreLong review here. Unfortunately, I'm having to rate this Premier Inn 3 stars. The actual Premier Inn to stay was good although the our family room was on the smaller size compared to others we visited. The biggest gripe we had was the brewers fayre restaurant attached next door. It looked very short staffed on both the evening we stayed and the morning breakfast although the poor staff was dealing with it very well. Unfortunately though tge evening meal was a disaster, we booked a table for 19.15 to then arrive from our room and be told it was a hour wait, OK that's fine we was informed so we'll wait and have some drinks. Then 1hr 15mins passes and noticing other customers being served there food after they had ordered after us so we thought we needed to ask where our food was, to be then told tgey had lost our receipt and could reorder and cook it, it was now 20.45 and my two younger daughters were starving, we asked how long this would take and if we could be refunded with the drinks we purchased as the offer off a free pudding and more drinks was honestly not ideal under the circumstances we had not eaten. We asked to speak to the manager as the poor waitress was doing her best, but going backwards and forwards with messages was not ideal. We then had to wait another 5 minutes for the manager to arrive, which in this time we had decided enough was enough and we needed to eat. We was then fully refunded for the meal and drinks which was fine but the one important thing that was missing at the end was a sincere apology form the manager, which was a dissapoinment end considering we was polite. Anyway, we subsequently was bailed out with a few quick meal deals around the corner at McDonald's with a very polite service as well. So we will probably stay at the hotel again if needed but definitely not be visiting the brewers...
Read more2 nights stay. The rooms were clean and staff were friendy but the rooms were not upto the usual high standards of a Premier Inn. The bed was small and the matteress wasn't a hypnomatteress. We could feel and hear the springs going 'boing'. It was uncomfortable, we didn't sleep well. The shower was really bad, the temperature fluctuated constantly from hot to scolding hot and cold which made it difficult to wash our 2 year old as there was no bath. We gave him a stand up sponge wash using water from the sink. Another room our family was in, the carpet to the bathroom wasn't under the gripper and caused a nasty trip. Had to be careful as they had small kids also. The restaurant adjacent was poor, slow service. Left my toddler waiting for a fruit salad for what felt like forever. Had to go back and chase it up 3 times before we finally got it. Next morning, coffee machine was broken, sachets were offered instead and they were limiting hash browns to 1 per person. They never came back to check if we wanted anymore cooked breakfast. Didn't feel like the unlimited breakfast experience we'd had at other Premier Inns. Wouldn't want to stay here again...
