I have travelled a lot and never felt so motivated to write a review, but the Shepherds Hut is just beautiful and your hosts, Tim and Sheila are wonderful. ||We didn't arrive until well into the evening (the M5, ugh!) but despite the late hour, Tim came out to the second we arrived and greeted us like old friends. ||We were walked up to the hut where Tim showed us the amenities and provisions laid out for us (including Sheila's homemade raspberry jam - you could travel here just for the jam!) and walked us through the home comforts on offer including underfloor heating, a wood burning stove (with briquettes provided), a barbecue (with charcoal provided), fire pit, two sets of table and chairs (one set for eating at, one set for drinking at), combi oven, induction stove and fridge (with ice compartment). There was even some milk in the fridge for us. ||The shower room is compact (but I'm a big fella and there was plenty of room for me), with a heated towel rail. The bed is amazingly comfortable, although if you are shorter in stature, you may need a leg up to get in. But it's well worth it once you've made the ascent. ||The village itself is beautiful with a fantastic, dog friendly, pub serving delicious food and you're about 15minutes drive from Kingsbridge, arguably one of the nicest towns in South Devon. ||The hut is even better in real life than the photos depict, you can't photograph peace and serenity. Sitting out in the evening and being able to hear nothing but sheep and the small brook behind the hut is just amazing. We are delighted to have been the inaugural guests and we...
Read moreGlebe Farm has rooms inside the main house and a Shepherd's Hut up the drive and into the field across from the fence from the sheep, but near enough to the chicken coup that they were greatly entertained by our presence. The house is beautiful, the gardens wonderful to walk (a small pond is there) and the very small village has an ancient medieval church built in 1316. The hut itself is small, rustic, quiet and if one seeks a simple escape for romance, it is near perfect. It is self-catering, but the owners left us some beer, prosecco, and granola besides the normal coffee, tea and milk. The bath is small, but has an adequate shower. The bed is super comfy and a bit high, so we used the step stool to ascend. Tips: you will have to take your baggage from the car up the drive and across a small stretch of grass to the hut, but watch the chicken poo. The hot water is not very hot and needs to run continuously otherwise the water turns cold - for the kitchen sink and for the shower. We thoroughly enjoyed the nights we spent there and used the days to see TorCross and to take the Gara Rock walkabout into Salcombe and back. It was a...
Read moreWe have just got home from an impromptu stay at Glebe farm, our visit was almost accidental but I have to say that I am so glad that we came across it. The owners are nothing but welcoming and nothing is too much trouble, they are so friendly and just want to make sure that you have the best trip possible, whether that’s recommending places to visit or keeping you topped up with tea, coffee or whatever you need. The main house itself is outstandingly quaint and with a 5 star cleanliness that you don’t always find, everything is just perfect. But to add to it all the details like home made bread, jams and home laid eggs (by the chickens not Tim and Sheila) you are spoilt with a personal touch that really sets this venue above the rest. We stayed in the main house but the cottage and the shepherds hut are both just as beautiful and you can surround yourself with the stunning countryside and lovely company. We have come away feeling like we have met new friends and will definitely be returning….often Karinna,...
