Shocking service Have been here many times in the last four years or so - lunches, both Sunday and other days, and for dinner. Always had a good time - food and service always excellent though a bit pricey but, hey, if it's that good you don't mind paying a bit extra. Until today - Sunday 11 September 2016. Booked a table for two for Sunday lunch at 2 pm - was told there are 2 roasts - lamb and beef and did we want to book one - a bit unusual but not unreasonable as we were eating late for lunch. Also mentioned when booking that we had two small dogs so might be a good idea to stick us in a corner.

So, arrived at 2pm - no ' front of house' - again not unreasonable as it is a pub not a restaurant ( despite what prices may indicate). Stood at the bar to order a drink and let them know we were there - plenty of staff milling around - what they were doing I have know idea - not sure they did either. I was surrounded by frustrated people trying to pay their bill having given up waiting for a waitress after 20+ minutes or order a dessert having been similarly abandoned. Eventually served after 15 minutes and told our table was by the door in a major thoroughfare - really good place for two dogs. Sat sipping our drinks - and sipping - and sipping - getting a bit low now - waitress darting past " excuse me - any chance? ".... After nearly 20 minutes - so 35 minutes in all - gave it up as a bad job - so I can't comment on the food for this visit. I understand it has changed hands since our last visit. Under new management - haha - zero management - a bunch of clearly inexperienced kids in the bar with no sign of ' adult supervision' Top tip if you want to get served at the bar - make sure you live within a 100 yards of the pub, or dress head to toe in Musto preferably including a life jacket. Such a shame but won't be going back. Unfortunately Google + doesn't give the option...

Booked for lunch service on the 28th August 2025. The restaurant is in a beautiful village and has been well decorated throughout however, this is where the good experience ended for me and my wife for her birthday meal. When we arrived there was no one at the bar to greet us and we had to wait 5 minutes for someone to see to us and take us to our table. On arrival at our table it was not set and I had to ask for the correct tableware after we had been left at our table. Then it took 30 minutes for our order to be taken and then a further 40 minutes for the food to arrive. The food quality was very poor for the price. We paid 59 pounds for 2 sandwiches, 2 drinks and chips and the steak on the steaks sandwich was very chewy and the fish fingers did not taste fresh on the fish finger one. We also asked for sauces for our chips and these did not arrive so had to ask again. Really disappointed as we found this on the Michelin guide and every restaurant we have visited from the guide, the well over 100 we have, has lived up to or exceeded expectations. But this restaurant is not up to the guides...

Aww it seems a lovely pub, but very disappointed that arriving with a few friends for afternoon drinks on a bank holiday to be told we couldn’t have the pilsner and only house larger because we seemed to be drunk when we clearly weren’t was very disappointing. I feel this pub is a if your face doesn’t fit then your not welcome. Also when 4 of us arrived the night before we were told the kitchen was closed at 8.40pm and sat there seeing lots of food come out the kitchen??? Like I say if your face doesn’t fit then you’re not welcome! Sad! Shame in this day and age when people are crying out for business from the pandemic! Sadly I...

Outstanding. Picture postcard pretty; cosy & snug. I was bowled-over by the warmth, friendliness and professionalism of the staff. They smiled ☆ they were courteous ☆ they were fast ☆ and they were competent professionals ☆ Whether this is as a result of sound training or the management simply letting very good staff get on with their jobs, who knows? - but it's hard to over-state the solidly positive impression it creates. The food was knock-out good; the beer was dreamlike. This place topped-off a perfect day and I'm thrilled at the prospect of another visit. Thank you all.

We stopped today for a quick drink on our walk. What a little gem of a place. Great beers, wines, and the service was fantastic, we were served by Megan who was so knowledgeable and very charming. We saw outside a bbq Smoker that was smoking two whole salmon fillets, we met Ian the chef who was very informative and offered us a sample of the salmon, It tasted amazing. As we were about to leave we asked directions and the lovely manager Caitlin came over with a map and gave us a detailed walk plan. Thank you to you all, and we wish you the very best in the future.

Fab place food is great however lage plates even though cheap don't come with much. Possibly look at introducing some additional sides to accompany them. Definitely worth checking out lovely spot staff were attentive and friendly. Food prices were good value but drinks over priced. Bottle of blush £29.95 when should be between £18 & £25 this i think needs reviewing. Possibly increase food prices slightly to compensate.
