One quick paragraph cannot give a fair idea of how pour of an establishment this is.
Please bare with me as I will try and explain how this "business" is ran.
I booked the weekend at Ellison Hall for myself, my partner and three lads who work for me. It was out belated Christmas party as we had been working right up until Christmas (23rd Dec) and couldn't fit it in beforehand.
As soon as I booked the accommodation I emailed over asking for late checkout as we had a busy Saturday night planned and didn't want to drive over 300 miles without sufficient rest. I was met with a response saying simply "ask nearer the time and if we haven't we will charge an additional £20 for late checkout at 4pm" This put Ellison Hall really in my good books as from the photos I had thought it was incorrectly priced.
Fast forward to exactly one week before our visit and I had emailed Ellison Hall with several questions that all of my companions had asked such as security related questions, parking related questions, payment related questions and a couple of other small things.
We got a reply which answered 8% of our questions. I put this down to me messaging on a Friday afternoon and thought that I would get a better reply come Monday.
I didn't.
After we arrived we had a chat with the cleaners who live on the property. They made us feel really at home and were apologetic on behalf of the office. To be honest they were the ones who mad us not leave because of the disorganised and none flexibility of the office.
So the Friday night we arrived and the condition of the actual apartment/room wasn't great. Fixings missing very very basic everything but we thought for £150 a night what did we expect.
The main thing we did see was some black mould elsewhwre in the property which ia a direct health hazard but that wasnt in our room so we dismissed it.
In our line of work we deal with damp and mould and I can safely say if enviromental health and building regulations visted the property they would close it on the spot.
So saturday comes around and we leave to watch one of my friends play football for Gateshead. Upon our return we notice a large group of people in the room next to ours bringing up speakers and DJ' decks. They told us they were having a party and we were welcome to join but we respectfully decloned.
Fast forward 2 hours and we get a knock at our door, around 40 people barge into our room and start partying in the living room. They were all from the party next door so I asked them all to leave but they wouldnt. I eventually found the person who asked us to join the party and asked if he could get them out as we would be leaving soon. He helped and for over an hour we cleared the room to around a douzen people.
Then the police turned up...
the presence of the police forced our door open and peoplw flooded in. I cannot put a figutr on the amount of people At this point.
Fortunatly I seen the cleaner who lives next door and she came in with police officers who cleared our room.
Once it was clear we locked up and went to go out but the cleaner asked for my key to the room.
After it had all died down I returned to find out what was going on and the owner of the establisment made it very clear we would not be allowed back into our room full stop. He even tried to say we couldnt collect our bags clothes ect.
Me and my girlfriend were allowed back in the room by the cleaners against there boss's wishes and for that we are very thankful.
We collected our things belonging to the five of us and packed everything into the car.
At this point the cleaners had checked the condition of the room and he said to me "you'll most likley get a £20 charge for the foor handles"
£550 later and one of our two nights sleeping outside ellison hall in our car and the owner nor the office will respond to me.
They kicked us out into the cold and ran wkth our money it is as simple as that.
To sum it up, its not a very nice place to stay and you WILL NOT gwt your deposit back.
This place should...
Read moreThe issue that I have experienced was: I booked to stay at this accommodation for 08/05/21 1 night. ||On the morning of 08/05/21, I checked again my email for information as to how to retrieve the Key for the room, I had not received any information nor had I had a reply to the early check in and late check out request, so I rang the number shown on booking.com 07932057088. ||The gentleman advised that he had cancelled my booking as he thought I was 'a young-in' and would be having a party. I corrected this straight away advising that I most certainly am not a 'young-in booked for a party'. He then asked if I had paid to which I had £255.00 and if booking.com had taken the £250.00 bond. I advised that this had not happened as online on booking.com it states and still does that Ellison Hall will handle all payments. However Ellison Hall had managed to take the monies direct from my account for the room but not the Bond. The gentleman asked if I was able to pay £300.00 in cash to which I agreed. He left it 1hrs then advised that I could stay the night but need to meet Tracey @ 1230 to collect the keys and make the £300.00 bond payment in cash. ||Throughout this whole time the booking was still showing my booking as confirmed on the booking.com APP. ||I arrived on 08/05/21 and handed over the £300.00 cash as the bond and in return received the keys. ||On entering the room it was clear that the only thing that had been done was the beds made up, there was mess all over the place mucky finger prints, crumbs and sticky stuff on the floor and tables and make shift ash trays stored in the kitchen units and bathroom units, stains on the curtains, no fire extinguishers readily available nor any noticeable fire alarms in apartments or highlighted fire exits, the windows also seemed to be glossed shut, H&S issues at best. ||So on leaving the property on 09/05/21 @ around 11am we knocked on room 1 downstairs where the office seems to be to ask which bins we should use for our rubbish as we had cleaned and tidied to a better standard than we arrived to ensure the bond was returned to me. on leaving the lady ( Tracey) advised that as long as all is good with the condition of the room the bond would processed back to my bank via my card (although I had paid cash) Monday came and went 10/05/21 with nothing showing as being refunded back to my bank account, by 14/05/21 I contacted the office again to ask where my refund was to be advised it had been processed that morning 14/05/21 - and if I would like a copy of the receipt, this was then emailed direct to me, now today is 01/06/21 and I still have no refund of £300.00 into my bank account. Again I have contacted the accommodation today to be advised via email @ 0800 that there must be a problem with the Card terminal and they will get in contact with the card terminal issuer today, however by 1300 they still have not contacted the card terminal company and still have no money in my account and no faith that it will be refunded especially after reading other reviews online and this seem to happen to quiet a few people.||||I had also booked the bungalow, an although he had cancelled my booking due to thinking am a raver, when he rang back to confirm I could collect the Key at 1230 he advised that the bungalow was already prebooked out.||||Booking is still showing that it was confirmed and that I have stayed on the booking.com website.||||It occurred on: 08/05/2021||||This meant that This has seriously annoyed me and cost me a fortune, as I have now received bank charges due to this refund not being in my account when it should have been and still not...
Read more|The place was dead when we arrived, it seemed like it hadn’t been stayed in for a long time, no lights on whatsoever and a struggle to see the lock boxes or find where we were meant to be going. There was piles of sheets on the ground in the foyer. The general areas were not particularly clean. We first had access to apartment one but the boiler and heating did not work so we had to be moved to apartment three, as we had a baby with us. Apartment three had mouldy onions in the bottom of one of the cupboards, hardly any of the provided kitchenware was clean and the WiFi was not working (it did not work for the duration of our stay). Nothing that we would expect from an apartment/hotel was provided. There was no washing up liquid, hand soap, dishwasher tablets or usable tea and coffee. There were no bath mats at all making the bathroom floor a dangerous place after showering. We planned to have our Christmas lunch here, brought heaps of groceries only to find that the fridge temperature was way above what it should’ve been and much of our food was ruined. Furthermore, on 26th December there was a group in apartment number 1 who were smoking constantly at the main entrance and leaving the main door wide open. They played horribly loud music all through the night right up until late morning meaning that we barely got any sleep. They were also loudly playing the piano sporadically at unsociable times. We had a baby with us so obviously this was a less than ideal situation. The front entrance was also littered with cigarette butts and smashed glass. It stated we would have access to washing and drying facilities but after drying some items for around 2 hours, nothing was dried. The locks in the bathroom were stiff that 4 of us struggled with getting out at various points. For all of these reasons we decided to cut our holiday short and leave a day before we were supposed to on the 27th September, even though we paid up until the 28th. We had planned to enjoy a relaxing Christmas trip which ended up being ruined for all of the reasons listed above, not to mention the extra stress of the season. Especially considering the price, we were sorely disappointed...
