We always use Premier Inns whenever we can as we have always found them to be clean with comfortable beds and reasonable food.|Several of our family members had booked rooms for a family wedding.|Unfortunately, on this occasion the usual standards were not met.|Our room had a view of a building site, (not attached to, or anything to do with where we were staying.) where workers in white protective clothing were removing roofing material. |Wonderful !!!|The room was dirty with flaking paint and mould in the bathroom.|The room had not been cleaned to high standard with dirt and dust on electrical sockets and the tv cables, but the bed was of the usual Premier Inn good standard.|The other rooms my family booked were the same, so much so that one family member moved to another hotel as the mould and damp was even more evident than our room.|We understand that other people who were staying there were of the same opinion and wanted to change rooms but none were available as the hotel was fully booked ?!?|This obviously put a "damper" on the wedding we were attending.||To be fair, there were signs outside the hotel saying that renovations were being undertaken as they were moving the restaurant inside the main building.|The restaurant was adjacent to the hotel and was once a "Beefeater" but is now being run by the Premier Inn. The breakfast was the usual Premier Inn fare but the evening meal menu was a minimal one with limited items available.|The staff in the hotel, reception and in the restaurant were excellent and must be applauded for their help and friendliness.|So, all in all, not a good experience, and I fear that we will not be staying here again.|Hopefully, all of the above points that I have included in this review will be addressed and then maybe the Premier Inn Newton Abbot Racecourse can earn a couple more stars from other guests in...
Read moreI wish I could score this hotel lower. During the recent snow storms I got stranded and so googled the nearest hotel. It turned out to be the Premier Inn in Newton Abbott. So I proceeded to walk the 4 miles to the hotel, through the worst storm ever to hit the area, through snow drifts and icey conditions.
On arriving soaking wet, freezing cold and having an asthma attack so I was struggling to finish a sentence with out coughing vigorously, I waited for the staff to finish their cigerette break and asked for a room. I was told there were none available. So i then politely asked if I could sit in the reception and try and book a room else where. I had explained my situation previously and added I wanted to get a drink warm up and use my phone to book another hotel. The male member of staff told me there was a hotel 1.2 miles away and the female member of staff told me if I want to warm up go across to the restaurant but you better hurry as they close in 30 minutes.
After I explained my situation again and told female I was in the middle of an asthma attack I walked across to the restaurant where I proceeded to book in to the Best Western Hotel. They were having problems reaching the hotel by phone as they were so busy but promised me that if they were full they would accommodate me some how. What a difference in attitude. When I got there I was given a free hot drink and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I'm not sure if all of the staff at the Premier Inn in Newton Abbott are as rude as the two I met but customer service training is definitely required from my point of view. This was a totally shocking experience and in this day and age I can't believe this is what a company of this...
Read moreStayed at this hotel, for 2 nights with our family. Can honestly say this is by far, the worst accommodation I have ever stayed in, in my 60+years ! The rooms were tired, as was the whole establishment. My Grandsons towel was dirty, looked like dry blood. The restaurant ( not even sure I can call it that) was shabby, stained, ripped seats, and very little beer on tap as they were all empty. We had booked breakfast for us all with the grandchildren, only to be told that the restaurant was closed as we made our way down that morning, bearing in mind that all breakfasts had to be paid for in advance. Apparently a gas leak, which I find incredibly hard to believe, as I stated to the duty manager, surely you would ensure the safety of all guests, by evacuating the hotel until it had been inspected. The staff still insisted on this story, which I find extremely disgusting, when you see a beer keg delivery at that time!!! When we went to reception to complain about the catalogue of events, we are greeted with " all I can say is we sympathise" . You will be refunded for breakfasts but it will take 3-5 days!!. As a person who has worked in hotels, hospitality, and with a wealth of customer service skills, I am appalled and bitterly disappointed in the whole experience of this Premier Inn. I would never stop there again and advise others to think twice before...
