Rooms and interior is generally nicely decorated and looks fairly freshly done. The outside looks very run down but I guess that doesn't matter too much. Main reason I'm giving 3 stars is the water system for showers. Shower was run for 15 minutes in the morning around 0830 and it was ice cold the whole time, was warm when we checked it around 1000 just before we left so it obviously can't handle multiple people showering.....but it's a hotel....housing multiple people so that's really unacceptable to be having cold showers when you're paying to stay somewhere. That's hostel type service. Do what all the other hotels do and have multiple boilers, sometimes even 1 small one for each room so that guests never have a cold shower.
The night before around 2200 we had a cold shower for around 8 minutes, then it went hot but only for 3-4 minutes then it went cold again for another 5 minutes. Also the water would periodically just stop for a second or the pressure would drop off massively.
It just seems like they've got 1 ordinary house sized boiler for the whole hotel which would never be able to handle multiple guests showering.
If this hot water situation was fixed it would probably get 4 stars and we would maybe stay again because the room was nice and the location is great for the Cotswolds.
Next issue would be price, £103 for the room with a good shower and slightly better breakfast would be reasonable, but the shower was awful and the breakfast wasn't QUITE up to standard but it really doesn't need much work to improve it.
Last issue as mentioned would be breakfast, the bacon and sausage was barely cooked at all, the sausages almost looked raw they were that pale but they weren't raw, maybe microwave cooked or something idk, cook them both a bit more so there's actually some signs on the surface of the sausage that it's been near some sort of heat source and that would be fine. Should be brown not pale off white like they're straight out the packet. Actually impressed they managed to cook it and still make it look raw (microwave?). Appreciate not everyone like crispy bacon but then do some pale and barely cooked and the others with a tiny bit of crispiness on it.
Pastry selection wasn't a selection, unlike the picture there are no chocolate pains. Instead you get a 'croissant' and Nutella packages. Now that is absolutely fine, that's what European hotels do if they don't have chocolate pains but they 'croissants' were just those cheap brioche bread shaped croissants so not even a proper one. That's seriously cheap to be buying them over just getting frozen croissants and whacking them in the oven for 15 minutes and getting proper fresh butter croissants. Like those are the ones you get in a multi pack and they're wrapped in plastic.
So like I said, if these breakfast bits were fixed (cook it properly & use real croissants instead of cheap brioche ones), and the hot water system was a lot more reliable we would definitely stay again.
Car park is absolutely massive, almost too big, there's probably room for a swimming pool there which would make this hotel more popular (and I guess more expensive), just a thought.
20% off in the restaurant when you stay there is also really good since it's not expensive to begin with, nice and convenient. Just make sure you get there before 2115 and if they try and say the kitchen is closed go to the manager, maybe we just caught them...
Read moreWe left after 2 hours in the room.
Staff were polite The room had a lot of storage and the decor in the room was nice. However Blood stain on my sink in the bathroom. They claim for it to be wine, however no matter what even if it was wine, in a global pandemic it shows the room wasnt NOT cleaned properly. There were also remaining hairs in the bath which also had no plug. I selected the hotel as I knew it was going to be warm and they mentioned the rooms had air con. When I got there the room temperature was stuck on 18'. When I called they said the air con was broken and if the room was warm it'd because the radiator was on in the bathroom. I went to the bathroom the radiator wasn't even on. So I knew I wouldn't sleep that night. I also selected the button which allows you to request a quiet room. The walls were paper thin. You could hear everyone coming through the hallway and the conversation in the bedroom next door and doors constantly shutting. In the end we left after not even 2 hours in the room. We wasn't asked why we was checking out so early, probably because we know that other people had complained about the noise and the Aircon and they didn't need to ask as they already knew. The hotel are now in chats with booking.com but I don't see why they are taking so long to come up with a refund. Take responsibility and reedem themselves with customer service. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but still I'm not going to be allowing them to...
Read moreReally bad service. ||Nothing in the room was working. Fridge not working. Safe not working. A/C not working when temp outside was 28C. Was given a tiny table fan. Hot water couldn’t change temperature. Or make it cold. There was no shower conditioner throughout the stay . One would expect the room service would refill it when cleaning the room.|||| Stayed for 5 nights. But sheets were not changed once. Towel was changed only on the last day. Room was never vacuumed during the stay. One of the days room service came to make the bed at 7pm when we were back. What was being done the whole day. ||||Also the staff were very bad. Not interested in doing the job. There was a guy in the bar who had no idea about basic drinks (asked for gold tequila and I got some mango flavoured tequila and was told it’s gold because it looks gold). Breakfast service was poor. The food was alright but had to keep asking staff for cups, spoons, bowls, napkins, etc. restaurant tables were not cleaned after a customer left had to throw a used napkin off the table. ||||||Booked this hotel expecting Ramada service. But the service is worse than travel lodge. By far the worst hotel experience ever. No wonder it has changed...
