Room too hot, but staff were friendly. We stayed two nights in September when the temperature was 22C. The beds have winter duvets (675g/m2, equivalent to 13.5 tog) all year round. Reception said lighter duvets weren't available, but sheets were. The temperature in the room was 20.5C per the thermostat....perfect, except far too warm for winter duvets. The rooms have windows that can't be opened, but have air-conditioning. The first night we tried with sheets and duvet covers only, but that was too cold for 20.5C. The second night we tried the air-conditioning, which would go down to 19C. The room becomes chilly and although sleeping under winter duvets becomes possible, the air is dry so not ideal for sleeping or asthma sufferers. The mattress was comfortable, but because of the duvet situation I slept very badly both nights. Instead of providing summer duvets (4.5 tog), they would rather we use electricity to power the air-conditioning all night....not a very environmentally friendly choice by Premier Inn. Many hotels and cottages are lazy like this opting for 13.5 tog all year round. In our relatively poorly insulated 1920's home we only use 9.0 tog in winter. Hearing the thudding footsteps and creaking floorboards from the person in the room above didn't help our sleep either. The rooms are otherwise clean and functional. The staff at reception and in the bar & restaurant were fabulous, very helpful and friendly. The evening meals were very tasty and good value with the meal deal including breakfast. The breakfast quality was mixed - sausages, beans, egg, mushrooms were very good, hash browns could be better, the bacon had little flavour. On the most important aspect, quality of sleep,...
Read moreBased on a retail park this hotel is off the main road going towards Eastborne and Brighton. Rooms were lovely and location was perfect being just up the road from my parents house when visiting. Was greeted and helped as the checking automated system didn't work. We had a quiet and peaceful night and was just as expected. The restuarant on the other hand put a real negative impression and let down the whole experience. 3 fires in the toaster due to no signs saying not to use croissants or other bakery items in there. Fire door had to be left open for the smoke leaving the restaurant cold. Unlike the other premiere inns, we had to have our order taken down by a staff member, so no freedom to help yourself or choose when seen on the buffet display. We ordered two vegetarian option for the full breakfast, for myself and my husband, it took 30 minutes to cook our breakfast, 4 families had eaten and left at this point. when queried i got told that vegetarian sausages take longer to cook than normal sausages! when they arrived it was shocking, didn't get all that we ordered, the food was low quality and cold. Didn't feel very valued as a customer. Wasted a lot of time and money for breakfast when i could have gone to my parents and had breakfast there, which we did in the end as we didnt eat all the food.
It would have been better to have had the buffet style like the other premiere inns and let the customers help themselves, in stead of us chasing staff to take our order and finding out where it was. really poor, will not be going back to have breakfast there again. Save your...
Read moreWe always travel down to Brighton every summer to visit friends & family in the area and want a peaceful hotel to base ourselves from, Uckfield is definitely a great choice with its countryside ambiance, local amenities including an M&S, Home Bargains and adjacent Costa Coffee its perfect to start any summer adventure. Premier Inn Uckfield was only built a few years ago but still maintains a clean & tidy exterior with comfy, clean rooms inside. They did offer free parking up until this summer due to having a third party ANPR system installed which is a bit of a shame as it is in the middle of nowhere and doesn't really make sense to charge for parking?
It is always a pleasure to stay here, the staff including the nightshift team which we usually get talking to are brilliant and always make us feel at home, they have an onsite Thyme restaurant but unfortunately on this visit we didn't get to try it out. It's in a great location if you are looking to travel to Brighton, Lewes, Eastbourne or even London with its tranquil location and no noisy city centre hustle & bustle.
We always love to stay here every year but do try and book in advance as the price of rooms recently have sky rocketed and is becoming difficult to choose a Premier Inn over other premium...
