Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Wealden

Visited this drive through on Wed 14th April 2021.... despite the store opening hours being until 6pm at 5.40pm the store itself was locked already. I’d tried to go in to get my drink rather than join the drive in queue... however I did have to join the drive thru queue.... at 5.50pm a chain was put across the drive thru in front of one other car (the last in the line)that had been in the queue for a number of minutes already...the comment made to the driver was that they needed to close early as short staffed. I however did get to place my order which was for a large hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream. What I received was a large luck warm hot chocolate WITHOUT marshmallows or cream. I couldn’t go back to complain/query as the chain was across the entrance and they had locked the front door too. Service was slow and very poor... simple order placed...not delivered!!! I usually use the drive through about once a week and I’ve had drinks handed to me with loose lids, the one today actually came off when I was driving and I waisted a whole drink, but at least my car smells of peach. Whenever I get two drinks or more I don’t get a cup holder and whenever I get a cake ect.. it’s always put in the bag upside down so the toppings are waisted. One of the men who work there never has his mask on correctly and once handed me a ice tea with no ice and then rolled his eyes when I asked if I could have some ice please. However there is a very nice lady who works there and the drinks are very nice. For how much Costa costs my experience hasn’t always been the best and I’ve had better at...

I generally like Costa and this location is quite a good spot when driving by for work visits/commuting or generally wanting to meet up with some friends. I’m not local. 4 out of 7 visits I have encountered some sort of technical issues where they either aren’t open, the drive-thru is open but the shop is shut or the shop is open but the drive-thru is shut. It’s just Sod’s Law that when I’m passing through and want to use the drive-thru they are shut or when I’m with friends and we want to catch up in the shop to get warm they have been shut.
