It's OK as long as you have got the right room. I meant to do this review before but never got round to it.I returned here when new people took it over.I will aim for brevity.
When I was here previously I noticed that a certain single bed in a certain room had wooden struts bolted onto to it DIY fashion to strengthen it.This made the bed uncomfortable as it had no give to it,and was a cheap slatted bed anyway.I emailed the owners about this alteration and asked if they had been removed.A guest is entitled to sleep in a bed the way the manufacturer made it.The owner did not reply.
During my stay I noticed the wooden beams were still there. After my stay I told the lady that the struts were still there. Her answer was two fold:
1.Maybe you might want to choose another room. 2.No one else has complained.
Both these answers are from a person with limited thinking and business abilities. Firstly I might like the room itself so why should I,it should have an unaltered bed. Secondly I informed her that just because no one has complained doesn't mean they haven't noticed it..
That's like saying one persons garden is really untidy but the neighbors ones are prestine but no ones complained:no, but they might think alot about it.
I repair customers machines:if a customer says to me it's noisy I don't tell them to use another one,I takes steps to mend it.!!!!!
The owners responded to my review all this time later, and the wooden struts are still there, so they say;so much for other guests...
Read moreWe were let down by previous holiday providers at the last minute after several years of returning to them - Their loss. So on the blower to Sarah and Ian - all sorted. The minute we walked in the door - it was 'homely'. Felt so welcome. The rooms are tastefully decorated and all amenities catered for. The grounds are amazing - aside from the garden there are also meadows to explore. Perfect for the nature/photography enthusiast. The water is 'tasty' as it comes from their own well, so no flouride additives etc. Each downpipe has a waterbutt. They are aiming for sustainability. From the menu, we only had cooked breakfast as out most of day, but thank you Ian for a delicious and very filling start to the day. The banter was so funny, so relaxed. Ian breaking into song at every opportunity, Sarah looking 'skywards'. Have to admit Sarah told me not to encourage Ian - sorry, hun - couldn't help it. But seriously, if you want a break away from the hum drum of life and just switch off, we didn't once put on tv or use our mobiles. Good old fashioned chin wag/chat was what we did. If happy with that, then this is the break for you. So much to explore, so much to give. WE WILL BE BACK - it's our first stop country retreat. Thank you so much Ian and Sarah for sharing your loving home with us. Great catch up with too. Thoroughly recommended. Will think about your request for 'greener' ways. Looking into a...
Read moreThis is a gem of a b&b! Sarah and Ian are lovely hosts; friendly, low key and happy to help.|We, 3 adults, were in the 2 twin rooms that share a bathroom. A lovely set up: comfy beds, tea n coffee in rooms. The water is lovely here - sweet taste and soft for washing in. The breakfasts were lovely, vegetarian and full English. We were here July 5th to July 9th (2022) and we explored Dartmoor from here. The local East Dart river is very beautiful and has a Clapper Bridge, so pretty. There are walks from the door and a good pub just down the road. The house dog is a friendly collie who is very welcoming and playful.|I will recommend this...
