I brought my mom along to the area on Mother's Day weekend and stayed with Misty and Eric for two nights. Eric made us delicious breakfasts and tasty treats that we would 100% go back for (he even had to rethink his menu when I told him I was vegetarian upon arrival). Misty offered a bunch of information about the area and some places we might want to check out. They were kind, accommodating hosts who have created a welcoming and thoughtful space. Regarding the property itself, it is right next door to the Grand Traverse Resort, which they have a membership for and offer the discount to guests. It was surrounded by the in-bloom cherry orchard, which was beautiful, and I liked that it was out of the energy of the city. Our room (The Kesner) was cozy and bright as it was a corner room. The property has been beautifully restored and I talked with them a little about finding antiques to add to the place! I wish I thought to get some more pictures, but I hope the ones I got are convincing to some extent! I've been trying to get others to check out this little place so that they might get to experience the B&B, too!

Chef Eric and Misty were the best hosts we have ever stayed with! It was my husband and I's first time experiencing a countrystyle bed and breakfast and it was incredible! The pictures posted by everyone says it all- from the pictuesque 400 acres of organic cherry orchards surrounding the charming historical Victorian home built in the 1880s, the delicious homemade cookies and tea waiting for you everytime you enter the property, handcrafted, customized, 5 star gourmet meals made with love and lots of preparation, it made our weekend getaway unforgettable! They went above and beyond our expectations. Highly recommend this stunning property of Country Hermitage Bed and Breakfast for your next romantic getaway! So much better than any Airbnb we have stayed at and hotel experience we would have had in the area. We are planning a family trip here for the holidays in the near future already! Can't wait to stay here again!

My first time to Michigan and to a bed and breakfast to boot and I must say, this experience set all others that will follow up for some pretty huge expectations! Eric and Misty were so incredibly hospitable and Eric’s cooking was absolutely scrumptious!!! From the freshly baked cookies every evening when we returned from a day of adventuring to the 2 course breakfasts of deliciousness that start our days, and everything in between was amazing, to say the least! Misty even provided us with a vase so we could have freshly cut lilacs in our room! If you’re looking for a place to stay near Traverse City, this is a must go to! Thank you both for such a wonderful experience!!!

We came to the Country Hermitage on our honeymoon (14 years ago), and returned for a couple of nights of reconnection and to celebrate our anniversary. Although we couldn't book the Pulcifer Room again, the Morrison Room was equally comfortable. Aveda toiletries are still offered for bathing (which I loved from the first experience). The cherry orchard and fishing pond are constants, as is the quality of the experience here.

The Innkeepers are different but still extraordinary. Misty & Eric have brought in elements of their personalities and experiences, updated some of the amenities/offerings, and deliver an exceptional experience. Freshly baked cookies were presented just inside the entrance from the porch, and at check in they asked about any dietary restrictions and made note to accommodate them in the breakfast offerings.

Among the changes are a kitchenette for guest use, complete with a fridge (with a marker if you have leftovers to label) that they have stocked with locally produced craft beers and white wines for guests to enjoy. There are also red wines available. The kitchenette has a microwave for guest use too. Just outside the kitchenette is a beverage station, with an electric kettle, tea assortment, hot chocolate, mugs on a warming tray, and coffee service in the morning. I spied a French press there as well, so I know I could make some coffee other than in the morning if I chose to do so.

At breakfast, Misty shared the local coffee roaster from whom they purchase the coffee served, and explained that company's commitment to reducing waste. It is clear Misty & Eric are committed to the same - with tags on doors for guests to request "stay over service" (towels, toiletries, light housekeeping) or opt out to conserve resources, glass cups in the room and kitchenette rather than disposable ones, and locally sourced ingredients used to make breakfast.

The breakfast offerings (two courses) are immensely enjoyable! Visually pleasing in the presentation as well as delectable to the palate, my day started well with the nourishment at the table [as well as enjoyable conversations with our interesting fellow guests]. Who knew that something as basic as yogurt and fruit (a first course offering this weekend) could be so elegant and inviting?!

Misty & Eric had great suggestions for additional dining experiences in the area (our favorite was The Franklin) as well as other suggestions for activities (either shared personally, if you asked, or presented in magazines featuring area attractions, should you prefer less interaction). The Country Hermitage retains its historic charms while meeting the needs of individuals in modern times and engaging sustainable practices for the future. I look forward to...

This Bed and Breakfast is situated in a cherry orchard overlooking Lake Michigan’s East Grand Traverse Bay. It is a beautifully restored and finished Victorian home made substantially open to guests to enjoy during their stays. Neatly appointed rooms, comfortable beds and plush linens ensure guests most comfortable overnight stays. Various rooms provide sunrises over the orchards or sunsets over the Lake and/or fireplaces to warm cool nights.

Innkeepers Misty and Eric take every measure to ensure guests know inn features available and the many local venues to enjoy. Career hospitality professionals, Misty and Eric endeavor to make your stay as enjoyable as possible while giving guests all of the privacy wanted. Eric is a professional chef who will create substantial and delicious breakfasts featuring all the grains, proteins, fruits and wonderfully edible garnish guests could want for a day of exploration, shopping or recreation. Misty serves the breakfasts to guests with descriptions of the culinary creations which will allow guests to remember their favorites for future visits.

Altogether, the Inn and its hosts provide exactly the memorable, relaxing yet exciting visit to the Traverse City area every couple deserves from time to time. From the fresh baked cookies at check-in to the last forkful of breakfast, guests will feel cared for throughout their stay.

We have stayed at many Bed and Breakfasts across the country. This is the one which we always look forward to return to. The restful nights, incredible breakfasts and outstanding hospitality is unmatched in our travels.

Traveled from Texas to Traverse City and stayed two nights with Misty and Erik at Country Hermitage Bed and Breakfast before heading to the Upper Peninsula. This is a hidden gem for sure! We loved our stay and will be back. Misty was so gracious and is the perfect host. We stayed in the Kesner room and had a beautiful view of the Cherry Orchards. For and old farm house, our room was amazing having been newly renovated and very clean. We even had great WiFi and Hulu live available on the a smart TV. We loved the robes placed in our room, as they were great to snuggle while having evening tea or morning coffee. In the mornings, coffee and pastries are available while Erik prepares a wonderful gourmet three course breakfast. Absolutely one of the best parts of our stay. Erik also gave us great tips and information on local wineries, events and places of interest. He has a huge map on the wall near the kitchen where he helped us plot our days and adventures over coffee. Another favorite was the lemon lavender cookies left out for us to snack on during our stay. Misty even sent us on our way with a bag of them and coffee. Erik and Misty we loved our stay and can't say enough. Thank you! Roger & Diana...
