We arrived at the lovingly restored Maple Cove B&B on the last full day of Summer. After getting settled, we were able to sit by the pool where we relaxed as we admired our surroundings. The tree-studded, beautifully landscaped property is serene and a delightful place to wander. That evening it began to rain. From our vantage point from the Hemingway Suite, the sight was beautiful and the sound, restful and welcoming - as is every corner of this special B&B. (What's not to love about sitting in a window seat reading Hemingway's Short Stories!) Following an exquisite dinner at Victoria's Wine and Dine in Oxford, we returned to what we were already considering our âhome away from homeâ. (I should note the entire house was adorned in festive decor of the season, which, loving fall as we do, was just perfect!) After a cozy night's sleep, we awoke to the first day of Autumn - and it did, indeed, feel like Autumn! The transition of seasons was made memorable by not only Jan's warm welcome the day before and her fine attention to detail, but by what was lying in wait ... one of her fabulous breakfasts! We chose to enjoy ours in the dining room, where we found the table beautifully prepared. Imagine having creations set before you that are not only visually enticing, but that cause one to try not to "Mmmm" after every bite! We took our time and enjoyed every moment. Jan was attentive, yet unobtrusive. She is a cheerful one-step-ahead-of-everything innkeeper. We look forward to meeting her husband, Mark, when we return and of course seeing their "crazy" -yet awesomely funny - dogs once again. Maple Cove B&B truly had it all and then some. We hope you'll find yourselves there one day, no matter the season!...
Read moreSome B&Bs call their rooms âsuitesâ because the rooms are large or just because âsuiteâ sounds more deluxe than âroom," but the three king-bed suites at Maple Cove B&B really deliver on the concept. Multiple rooms and connecting hallways, also private, comprise your quarters.
The first-floor Casablanca Suite offers: a king bedroom; a spacious sitting room with a sofa, chair, mini-fridge, coffee table and a bar-height table with two stools; a dressing room/closet, and down the hall, a bathroom with a gorgeous sink, soaking tub, skylight, and an enclosed water closet and large shower. Very clean, beautifully decorated.
We could have chosen the charming Plantation Suite upstairs, whose sitting room has two comfy chairs with ottomans and, above a long, upholstered window seat, beautiful windows overlooking trees, but the shower in the Casablanca suite won my husbandâs vote. That and the fact that a full-size pool table was right outside our door.
Breakfast both mornings was outstanding. On the second morning, the other couple dining with us had requested a vegan, gluten-free breakfast. The four of us enjoyed the same fruit course, but although we would not have minded a vegan, g-f menu, innkeeper Jan made separate entrees and baked goods for the two couples. That was a lot of work, yet she made it look effortless.
My husband and I live less than 90 minutes away, but we took a road trip to enjoy the holiday lights and sights in the nearby towns of Rochester, Oxford and Lake Orion. This North Oakland County location...

The property is gorgeous, with multiple places to walk, explore, sit and take it all in. We loved having coffee and tea and meals outside on the covered patio. The entire house is well thought out with gorgeous, welcoming details. Each room is a generous size with sitting rooms, a bathroom and a mini fridge. There is a generous pantry and beautiful shared space available to enjoy. The pool is clean and a serene oasis. Jan and Mark (the owners) are kind, thoughtful, attentive and also will give you your privacy. We loved every minute of our stay and will certainly return! On our second visit, Jan and Mark provided a wonderful experience again! Meals were beautiful, filling and delicious. We chose to eat in suite this time, which was really enjoyable. We loved visiting with the Innkeepers pups, who are friendly and sweet. The pool was perfect, water warm enough, with plenty of seating choices even with other guests. Loved having the contactless, keycode entry and accessible hand sanitizer throughout main areas of the house. The sweet baked treats were a welcome surprise. Jan and Mark were accommodating of a gluten allergy. We will definitely plan additional...
