My son and his colleague had two rooms booked by his employer on a business trip. I stayed with him during those three nights. The room was very clean and much larger than expected as a pleasant surprise. The reception was helpful and patient when my son tried to check in but she could not find his reservation. He paid out of pocket for the two rooms reserved and will file for reimbursement with his company. Breakfast was not the greatest but included so we made the most of it! ||I would like to address the lack of business etiquette by one of the receptionists and one member of the cleaning staff. They addressed me with terms of endearment (honey, sweetie, babe, etc.). I politely asked them to stop the terms of endearment because it is inappropriate in the business workplace and denigrates women. Although the glib argument that this is considered respect in the South, it is not because using such language is not gender neutral and discriminates against women. I asked them, "Do you speak to men in this fashion?" The cleaning employee made it clear that because I am a biological female, this is acceptable (in so many words). Although the Deep South has a reputation of using terms of endearment any time and any place, this is only acceptable among friends, family and children under twelve, not in a business setting directed toward adults the hotel staff does not know. Please Google the terms, "micro aggression and implicit bias. " This is a training issue for the staff as 21st century employees interacting with guests from different parts of the US and other countries, regardless of position at your hotel. ||I would also like to add that employees should not put their hands on guests, even if they are trying to make a point with no harm intended. I refrained from comment at the time of occurrence but I expect unknown people to respect my space and my body (note--nothing sexual occurred). ||The hotel was comfortable with amenities such as a refrigerator, microwave and sink for food preparation and washing dishes, parking and the pool. The staff on duty during breakfast was professional and checked to make sure we had what we needed. The man on duty even offered to make a waffle for me! ||Although the Country Inn is comfortable, I am unsure whether I would stay there again, knowing that gender inequality (probably age, too! ) is evident. Please work on this issue to improve service at the Country Inn so all guests feel welcome.||Thank you,||Betty...
Read moreThe owner was very rude. The brightness on our TV was very dark and you cannot see the faces of the people in the movie. My husband assumed the TV was going bad so he asked if they could take a TV from another room and put it in our room. The owner was willing to move us to another room, but we decided not to move because the same TV was in all the rooms. It was discovered that the TV’s (Phillips Brand) were of poor quality and did not have brightness settings on them. The next morning I got a Coke out of the vending machine and I was given a cherry Coke. The machine didn’t have cherry Coke listed as an option. I went to the front desk and asked if they could exchange the drinks because I don’t drink cherry Coke. The manager spoke to me in an unprofessional tone and told me no because they are not responsible for the vending machine. They had canned cokes upfront so I asked if he could switch it and he told me no. Then all of a sudden he told me he knew I was a problem because of the TV issue the night before. He told me he was done with me and he didn’t have anything else left to say to me. He was talking to me like I was a piece of trash. I asked why he was talking to me that way when I just asked a simple question. I explained he was acting very unprofessional and I wanted to have the corporate phone number. He then stated that I was the only customer that had issues with their hotel. I explained that was not true because when I was checking in, there was a couple in front of me that was having a discussion with him and complaining about a issue with their payment. There was an awful smell on the first floor past my room, and I heard people discuss it. I don’t know if he was just having a bad day, but that did not give him the right to talk to me the way he did. My husband and I have stayed in a lot of motels/hotels and I have never been talk to or disrespected the way...
Read moreBEWARE OF BED BUGS. This hotel deserves zero stars. At first, everything seemed fine. Nothing special about this place but we sold our home & needed a place to stay for 10 days until we were able to get in to our new home. We arrived on a Tuesday night. Come Friday morning I woke up to 2 bites on my neck. I brushed it off & didn’t think much of it. When I woke up Saturday morning, I had 30+ bites all over my arms, neck, face, ear, side, stomach and down my entire leg. THEY WERE BED BUG BITES. My 8 year old son is also covered in bites. This is gross and unacceptable. When I addressed this issue with the manager, Lisa. She advised me to “wash my clothes in hot water.” Obviously. She was snarky, rude and downplayed this MAJOR problem and only offered to upgrade our room. First of all, you have a bed bug issue, who would want to stay in a bed bug infested hotel and take the chance of getting even more bites on their and their children’s bodies? Refused to refund the 4 nights we spent there & said that she would have to get pest control there Monday to confirm and even then she MIGHT refund only one of the nights but would send me over the inspection paperwork. I don’t need the paperwork, the bites all over my body is proof enough that there is an infestation. She is a poor excuse of a manager and clearly does not know how to run a business. When I asked to speak to the owner she informed me that there was a family health issue & he was not available. This is still his business and he needs to be made aware & handle the situation as a true leader should. We had to abruptly pack all of our things, treat it all for bed bugs & find a new CLEAN hotel. Lisa never accepted responsibility nor did she even apologize. I have documented all of our bites with photos and have photos of the seams on the mattress & linens where it’s clear that bed bugs...
