Nice little campground around the edge of the city. If you hit the timing right (or wrong, depending on what you want) the state fair is open right across the road from the campground — literally a two minute walk. The campground is smaller than you might think when looking at the website, but that doesn’t diminish it in any way. The sites are not overly cramped together as there is a bit of space between each so you’re not staring directly in your neighbour’s windows. It was aptly described to me as “a piece of the forest in the city” which I think was fitting. Bathrooms were being renovated, but everything worked as it should have. I would definitely stay here again if I’m in Fairbanks.

I would classify this campground as basic as basic can be but for that really nice. The staff I interacted with was very friendly and welcoming. The bathroom (women) were clean, usable but absolutely nothing pretty or outstanding. Unsure how they keep the showers clean for the next person during high season, mine barely drained the water and I turned the shower head on twice more in the hopes of cleaning up after myself. Laundry is 2$ so is the drier. It gives the illusion of being in nature, while being close to the road and giving you easy access to all of Fairbanks. Over all can recommend for September, stayed there for two nights, wouldn't want to stay there when its super busy.

Tent camped on 6/30/2023. Our site (E) was small as the larger available sites (B & D) had a lot of roots in the ground, hence no where to set up a tent comfortably. Site E is off the drive of site D, not a good spot to park if the people from D need to leave. Staff was extremely helpful as I booked online and had to change spots a couple of time. Restrooms and showers were being remodeled, so they were functioning, but not good. Only one sink and the showers weren't clean. Tent camped there on 7/2/2023. This time our site (L) was much bigger, plenty of room. Again staff was extremely pleasant.

Location is good, and campground has trees. However that is where nicities end. The trash bin is overflowing, the bathrooms are under renovation (?): That is drywall has been put in place, but paint is missing. The electrical outlets do not have covers and are therefore dangerous! The stall walls and doors are dirty vaneer. No paint. Shower curtains have been cut (probably to be used in several showers)so that it barely closes the shower. Shower curtain as a shower compartment door. One out of two showers had hot water. Two toilets, but only one works well. Only one sink in ladies room, no countertops, no seats, nothing to put your things on. No mirror. The shower stalls have one rusty old metal chair each. The door does not shut properly. And the door frame is under construction. The facilities are too small for this campground, even if all the toilets would work. When I went in last night there were 4 ladies outside lining up for their turn in shower. In the inside was about 10 kids and few more adults. And it is not that big of the space.

NEVER saw the host and the office was always closed when I was in the campground. They seem to...

I made reservations and was given site AA which is outside the entrance of the campground, at the edge of the entry road, and across a noisy fair. When I made the reservation I was not told any of this information. In addition our camp site did not have a table, which the brochure states all sites have tables & fire pits. When I called to see if we could get a table I was informed that nothing could be done and no table provided. I was not at all pleased with the service or camp site. I cancelled our 4-night reservation on the phone with Buddy and have yet to receive my promised refund for 3 nights of camping - Buddy explained that I would only be charged for 1 night and my cancellation accepted. I have written 3 messages to check on my reimbursement and have received no reply or reimbursement. This all happened 2 weeks ago and I am very dissatisfied with my whole experience with Tanana...

When I book a campsite, at a minimum I expect a designated site and a picnic table. If you book sites 28 through 30, which are advertised as non-electric sites for RV’s, you will be directed to a gravel area at the entrance next to the side of the road. There are no dedicated sites, no picnic tables, nothing. Although some of the other electric sites are in a wooded area and are nicer, the bathrooms are extremely basic and the floor is wet around the toilets and throughout the building. The showers are lukewarm at best. The staff are very understanding, however, it doesn’t change the fact that the online booking system map is not a true rendering of the reality and the facilities are sub-par. I’m not exactly sure what I’m paying for.

Do yourself a favour and stay in the Walmart parking lot or just park...
