Sportsman's Lodge at Dale Hollow — Hotel in Albany

We complained because the first room was dirty. Sheets looked slept in with hair all over them and bugs in the spare blankets. We were givin another room next to the one we had and when I turned the bathroom light on,cockroaches ran to hide. We picked our stuff up to leave and a cockroach tried its hardest to attach itself to my friends dress shirt. We were literally swooshing it back and it kept flying at his shirt! The owner acted like we were lying but didnt ask to see what we were telling him. In fact he gave us back $100 to much when we demanded a refund and when we realized it and took it back,he didnt even know how much he'd charged us in the 1st place and still acted like we were lying even though I'm confident he was aware of everything and responsible for reusing sheets,ect. There's no other motel for over 30 miles is what we were told,so he has the monopoly it seems and that must be why he feels he can get away with it. Very best value on Dale Hollow Lake??? CLEAN, NICE. Close to multiple restaurants. The secret is...stay here, launch your boat at Sunset Marina, about 2 1/2 miles. Rent a covered slip from them and keep it there until you leave. You can bring food and grill it here, they have a nice picnic area.....OR, there are several mom and pop restaurants within approximately 2 miles. We have a couple couples meet us down there, no one packs any food, breakfast at Bobcat Inn, lunch meat on the boat, take a shower and then Pizza somewhere......ready for tomorrow!!!!! Lol, that's Lake Life!!!

Another great stay this weekend 8/19/2023....great news, many rooms have been completely remodeled. Slept like a baby!!!!! Another stay this weekend, 9-8-2023. I got a room with a kitchenette....see added photos, still very happy with this place overall!!!! Another three day stay 6-17-2024...things are still great here. We met some friends at Dale Hollow Lake but did not want to camp. We were told that the Sportsman Lodge was very unique and clean. Well it was so much more. This is a pleasant step back in time. Upon check in with the owner, who was very pleasant, we were given a map of all the hot spots to visit while in Byrdstown. All rooms are on one floor. Your only a few steps up to the landing where all rooms are. Parking is street level. Room is very clean but dated and that is what makes it so unique. Rooms includes, Queen bed, night stand, small fridge, microwave, coffee pot, hair dryer, tv. There is no phone in the room but one available down the hall for emergency calls. Plenty of nice towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner. Very good coffee (Folgers and Citavo) Very quiet atmosphere. If you are in this area this is a must. We loved it and will...
