A comfortable stay with little things that could be improved. The room was clean and I was surprised at how well I slept despite my initial impression that the bed was hard. The TV didn’t work, but staff came up and fixed the issue (a loose cord). I thought it odd that the clock was an outdated iHome/iPod device. There were plugins for USB and electrical cords, and the side tables were large, so no complaints. The light switch for the bathroom was oddly placed and took me a minute to find, and the lights on each side of the bed were different shades of bulbs. Breakfast had a good variety of options. The hashbrowns were stale, but everything else was great. Customer service was a mix. The staff was clearly very hard working and was quick to respond, but I had to ask for details about things like how to use the fire pit, and I was given the wrong time for the fresh cookies. The cookies were delicious, by the way. And, while you can hear traffic from the nearby freeway, the little outdoor space with fountain and seats was relaxing. Overall, I would stay here again, and plan to do so soon. It’s a convenient location for hiking the nearby Laguna and Cuyamaca areas.

I rely on reviews heavily, so when I saw such a high review for this hotel I was confident in my choice. When we arrived we realized that this is just a roadside motel, not much more. I don't know where all those positive reviewers stayed, it certainly was not in room 206 last week. The room was gross. I have never seen such used up bed sheets in any hotel to the point that they were not even white but old used up off-white color and texture. They were OLD. I slept with my clothes on. The carpet was also very dirty. When we turned on the heater the entire room smelled like old dust and pet hair burning off. We left the door open to air out but it did not help, we were miserable the entire night. If you appreciate a clean place to stay I do not recommend this place, period.

Chose to stay here to get both great weather and a place near SD. That was a good choice because this was the best experience I could have asked for. Check in was great and I would strongly advise early check in to get there and take a nap before starting your day. Amenities all around were very good. Free breakfast, heated pool + hot tub, EV charger (came in really handy, I didn’t have to waste more money supercharging in SD) and a whole shopping plaza right next to the lodge. I took advantage of breakfast the first day, nothing crazy but it gets the job done. Not to mention I grabbed a cookie both days after the pool, a fun treat right after relaxing. I will make sure to stay here in the next trip I make to SD!

Probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced dealing with the manager Larry Clark. When we checked in to our room last night, I immediately let the front desk know the room stunk of cigarette smoke. The lady Gwen who was super nice (this review is not about her at all she was very friendly and helpful) and she told me unfortunately she couldn't help because the rooms were all booked. I told her I understood but it's frustrating since I had to initial that it was a non smoking room. Fast forward another 30 minutes and my song tried to take a shower and waited 14 minutes to let the water warm up and it never got warm. It was strange because the sink water finally got warm after several minutes but it's like since they were at capacity it was taking forever for the water to warm Up. We had to get to bed and didn't have time to wait for the water unfortunately.

When I checked out I told the lady at the front desk and she told me she leave the note for the manager and have him call me when he got in. That phone call never came and I ended up calling back around noon. The manager Larry was extremely unprofessional, said that in all his experience that it didn't happen and that he personally knows the person who stayed in the room before and knows they don't smoke. So the manager, is friends with the guest that stayed there before me, let them smoke in the room is what it seems and is calling me the customer a liar. I'm literally a hard working single mom who just wanted to treat my son to a cool looking hotel the night before an out of town baseball game. And this is what I'm dealing with now. The manger ended up letting it slip at the end of the conversation though as to why he's mad. He mentioned that I had already left a review with Expedia and he was pretty angry sounding about it. I would have absolutely added something positive to the review had he helped me. I wasn't even looking for a refund in the beginning. Now I will be settling it with Expedia or my credit card company because that was awful. He punished me because I answered the Expedia survey truthfully. Please someone with the @Ayer's hotels contact me? And not Larry... he's extremely rude and...

We stayed at the Ayres Hotel because we were attending a concert at Viejas Casino and Viejas had no room vacancies. That actually worked out in our favor because we were able to bring our small dog and I liked the Lodge feeling rather than staying in a Casino atmosphere. The lady at the front check-in was very accomodating. The hotel is very clean. The back area with the bar-b-que is great! Feels like a Resort rather than a Hotel. The koi pond is awesome too. We didn't go into the pool or use exercise area but both were clean and nice. The only negatives about the room is it didn't have a full length mirror or robe hook. The bed was very comfortable. The shuttle service to the Casino doesn't run often enough and not opportune times. The check-in was at 3pm and our concert started at 8pm but we would have had to get on the shuttle at 4:30 which was too early or 7:30pm and would have been late for our concert. Also return times were either 10:30 pm ( too early) or 1:30 a.m. ( way too late for us). I went into the office to ask them if they had a taxi cab contact phone # or Uber # and the man at the desk laughed at me and said " we don't have a taxi in Alpine!' Ugh, a little rude. So we drove our car, not the safest way. Also the breakfast is mediocre. Watery eggs, over-cooked potatoes but the bacon, bagel and orange juice was great. No yogurt and not much in the way of fruit but still was a welcoming breakfast. Another plus for the Hotel is that it's dog friendly! It's hard to find nice Hotels that accepts dogs. All in all, a very nice stay and we would definitely come again when there's a concert at Viejas and stay at Ayres Lodge. Also there's nice eateries in the shopping center where Ayres is located. We had Chinese take-out and it was very good and inexpensive compared to Casino restaurants! Thanks Ayres Lodge Hotel and especially the "woman that I didn't get her name" for making our visit to Alpine a positive experience. Just add more shuttle times to the...

Well I'd recommend this place, but what happened to me is rare, were on 2nd fl, & leaving out at 6am for base, so as I am helping my hubby take our things to the car, I can't do stairs well, bad hip, well I'm in the elevator before the elevator gets to the first floor as I'm in it, water is Raging into the elevator scared me half to death I'm thinking I'm in a horror movie and I'm going to drown in a flooded elevator and there's no hatch at the top to get out so I didn't know what was going to happen so as the doors opened more water flooded in about 2 feet of water and it was Brown and nasty and I just got out of the shower that morning as we're headed to base well I'm screaming for help nobody came to my age I dropped off the stuff in the car and I had to take the steps upstairs as I told my husband what had happened then I went to the office to inform them there's water all gushing around I was told oh yeah a water main head broke underneath the elevator we're aware of it then if you're aware of it why not put it out of order sign on the elevator up on the Second Story he tells me well there is one on the first floor I said and what is that going to do for those getting on the elevator on the second floor he looked at me like a deer in headlights he then told me oh yeah that's a good idea I should do that I said you think? Besides that all was good, they have a gas grill in the pool area, but no cooking a tentacles to go with it so bring your own. That guy at the desk at 6am needs better customer service skills, he is not the sharpest caryon in the box, & was friendly. King bed on corner room 2nd floor by elevator was super comfy. Only 1 ice machine & its way over by the pool, but don't work well, we couldn't even fill our bucket up to add our hot bottles of drink in the ice bucket from the room, so go to the store in front of this place & buy your bagged ice. Thought to give owner or Mgmt a week to get back to me, nobody has, so tomorrow I will be...
