If you're a fussy person that likes to spend hundreds per night on lodging stop reading this now. However, if you are a person that needs a room in Alpine without having to sell your children into slavery to afford it, keep reading.|| ||The Value Lodge in Alpine, Texas is basic lodging, not a 5-star resort or a chic 'boutique' hotel. There are no illusions of grandeur at The Value Lodge. This is the real pookie!||||They have AC and heating that works. They have fridges and microwaves. They have showers and hot water. They have TV's and satellite feed programming... with various Aux inputs for my Roku!. They have workable WiFi. They have VERY clean beds and a place to sit down and get something done. I was pleasantly surprised how clean the linens and mattress were. I stayed three nights and never saw a bug or any sort of critter inside or out. (I did see the big Saturn and Jupiter conjunction!)||||I travel to Alpine a lot and was getting tired of having my posterior perforation dilated by some of the more upscale motels in town. Ever since the Antelope Lodge changed hands they have gotten too expensive and snooty for my blood.||No doubt, be prepared, this motel is older. I can personally remember staying here for a few days in March of 1986 after having my 'boo-tee' totally kicked while overnight backpacking at Guadalupe Peak. I did see Halley's comet from the highest point in Texas that trip and serious backpacker style points were awarded because it snowed... both nights. My booty was most righteously kicked. Along the way we were forced to eat Brave Sir Robin's minstrel... and there was much rejoicing! Woot!||||Not to sound too much like an old geezer, but back in those days this motel had a pool, restaurant on site and ultra cool vintage western latigo furniture in the rooms. (Ah, the good old days!)||||These days this motel fills the bill for an 'older guy' that travels to Alpine regularly to handle business, not to drink $15.00 margaritas in the shade, brag about my new Oboz I just got at REI in Austin or to go see those danged aluminum boxes in Marfa. (I wonder if they buried Judd in one of those? Would be sort of fitting, dontcha think?)||||So, if you are picky, and like places that feature hand towels folded into animal shapes and citrus flavored water in the lobby, this ain't your place. Drive a bit further and stay at the Maverick Inn for twice as much.||||But if like me, you just need a place to stay with the aforementioned basic amenities, The Value Lodge is most assuredly your huckleberry!||||Things to consider bringing: ||A single serve pod coffee maker.||A power strip with a long cord.||Folding lawn chair||COVID sanitizing wipes||Roku or Firestick||A LED construction light||||I was not paid or compensated in any way by The Value Lodge to write this review. I am a real person and I approved this message...

Staying in any place called Value Lodge you don't expect to have top rate amenities but at least semi clean, things in working order and okay customer service. The guy at the service desk is very rude and unfriendly. He seemed bothered that we made reservations there and like we were interrupting him. Twice our ONLY key card didn't work on our door and he seemed so inconvenienced even though we were the ones who had to stand out in 102 heat for 10-15 minutes waiting on him to return. No apology or anything, just snatched the card and came back without saying anything. He is almost never in the office so you have to call a number to get any help. The room was filthy and run down. The floor had crumbs all over it and even a bug! The beds obviously weren't clean because other people's hair was all over the pillow cases. The room was also in bad need of some dusting. The bathroom door wouldn't close properly and there is no ventilation in there. The shower pressure and controls are weird and uncomfortable. The wifi was extremely slow when it actually worked but mostly stayed off. The tv sound is going out so you can't really hear much on it unless you have it turned all the way up. There was also weird duck tape on the air conditioning and it stayed so hot in the room. I didn't expect I'd be in the hotel room much so I thought this place would be okay but I wouldn't stay here again for any...

I used to travel for work so I have a lot of experience staying in motels. I only require the basics: a TV, microwave, bed and a nice chair (the chair in my room was comfortable!!) to sit in. This place is old but it was clean. The bed was hard but I always bring an extra thick foam pad and pillows with me anytime I travel to any type of motel. I slept well. The room had a king-size bed, non-smoking, for $68 and some change. My only issue was the lock on the door. I thought it automatically locked when I shut it but after I got settled in I went to check the lock on the door and just barely pulled on the door and it opened without me even turning the latch! I realized the door wasn't locked and it took me 5 minutes of messing with the door to get the bolt to lock properly. I went out again to retrieve something and had the same problem all over again. So, I just stayed inside. Also, it took a while for the air conditioning to get cold. Overall, it was not a bad experience for the money. If you want five star service go to a...

This is indeed an excellent value. We have stayed here before when on vacation to big bend and strayed here again for a 3 day weekend. We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms and very nicely renovated and they are spacious and comfortable. It has a fridge and microwave. Congratulations to this hotel on the room decor. They were nicely done. We will stay here again on our next vacation.

The owner was really friendly. The room was not so good. There was dirt in the fridge and the drawer in the nightstand. The curtains did not fully cover the window and there was a lot of sun shining through in the morning. And there was no WiFi all night nor in the morning...

Overall, it’s nice room. I guess they just renovated the interior. Affordable price. They do offer ice-maker and continental breakfast. The only downside is the room cleanliness: hairs on the blanket , spices and soya sauces in the drawers.
