I have been working close to Altus lately. My work necessitates my staying away from home quite a bit, so when I book a hotel, it might be for months at a time. I reserved a king suite in Altus for 2 months (and would probably stay 3-4).. Two weeks is as long as I could stand this hotel. There was black mold around the bathtub grout. Tried to live with that. There were 5 lamps that were the entire light source for the room. Three of them didn’t work. 2 of them only needed new light bulbs, but after asking for 3 days, I gave up. Didn’t go buy my own, just for the principal. I shouldn’t have to. I had to bribe the housekeeping staff to change my sheets after 2 weeks. I asked repeatedly for them to vacuum my floor and it never happened in the two weeks I was there. I had them print me a copy of my bill so I could file an expense reimbursement request with my company. Discovered they had been charging me a different rate every night, instead of the quoted rate. When I called and asked for the manager, the front desk person (Aubrey) told me the manager would not be available that day, and had no idea when. Said the assistant manager wouldn’t be available until that evening, but a variable rate was their policy and she wasn’t likely to change it. All of this just topped off the fact that they are NOT pet friendly as advertised on the Apple Maps website, which I used to get their number initially. Therefore my wife had to find a dog sitter to come see me when she could. One night one of the bad lamps apparently tripped a breaker for my room. I reported it to the man watching the front desk. He found the breaker box, but didn’t know how to reset a breaker! I had to wait until the maintenance man showed up the next day to have light in the room. He told me what had happened and laughed about it.
I called the Vernon TX Holiday in Express. They quoted me a firm price for a king suite for a 3 month reservation. they are pet friendly, and I know their rooms are clean because I have stayed there in the past. I also know they are friendly and helpful.
Never again will I bother the...
Read moreExcept for the three bottles of bath-care items mounted on the shower-stall wall, there were no amenities in the room - no bar soap, no pen-and-paper, no hand lotion, etc. I asked the clerk about this and was told that I had to request "full service" to receive these amenities. "Even though I just checked in," I asked. He corrected himself, noting the room had not been prepared properly but indicated that he didn't have bar soap at the front desk. He explained that I would have to find a maid's cart and get soap from her. This was after dinner on a Friday night; the maids had long since departed. The next morning I informed the desk clerk that the bathtub faucet was leaking - profusely - and requested "full service" (to include a bar of soap). I returned the following evening to find two bars of soap, but nothing else had changed. The bed wasn't made, the towels were not replaced, and instead of fixing the leak, someone had just come and super-torqued the bathtub spigots so they were difficult to turn back on. The people at the desk were very nice - all of the four folks I spoke to - but I do not understand why any customer has to request "full service" at a respectable hotel. If there is a less-than-full-service option for customers, then there should be an accompanying less-than-full-service price! I also cannot grasp why the hotel would not want to fix a steady-stream water leak, though I suspect that they are simply passing along their enormous water bills to their customers with inflated prices. I will have multiple occasions to visit Altus again in the future and though I am a long-time "gold" member of the Holiday Inn "Priority Club," I will find somewhere else - almost anywhere else - to stay...
Read moreI stay at this hotel usually 3 weeks out of each month. I have done so since Aug 2017.
The front desk and office personnel are great. Brandy, Phoenix, Sierra, Bethany, Jacob and Tiffany always great the guest with a smile and always willing to help. The few times I have had an issue they have all gone above and beyond to make it right. The fresh baked cookies during the week are an added bonus.
The house keeping staff do a great job too! Linda, Lee Lee, Courtney, Aaron and Crystal do a great job ng sure the oms and hotel are always clean and neat. Any issues I have had have been met with a willingness to make it right. Lee Lee in particular does a fantastic job and takes such pride in her rooms and ensure her guest's rooms are perfect. Linda is always moving! She is making sure the common areas are neat and clean.
Michelle does a great job in the breakfast area. She takes so much pride in her area. It is always clean and organized.
The only issue I have is that the breakfast area choices and supplies seem to be lacking. Many times it seems that there is not enough breakfast items due to a distributor delivery issue. I will say though the staff does use local procured items to keep the variety and quality up. The breakfast area supply not the service is my only negative critique.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone that has to come to Altus for work or for pleasure. I have gotten a few co workers to stay here and they have all been very happy with the...
