Vacation Date - August 2021 Lake Diane Retreat was a great place for our family to spend our annual vacation this past August. It had so much to do. It had a yard for the little ones, kayaks for the older ones to take off in whenever they wanted, a water slide for the kids as well as the adults, pool table and foosball, and a pool!
It was a hot week, so we did not do much with the fire pit or hanging out on the balcony, but we made up for it in the pool and lake. We rented the pontoon for the week to take family rides around the lake. The lake was interesting to explore the different parts and various inlets. We didnāt catch much in the way of fish, but I guess August isnāt the best time to go fishing.
The great room was very spacious for us to hang out in. It could have used a little more lighting in that area though. The kitchen worked out well and allowed multiple cooks to be in the kitchen at once. We prepared all our meals except for the one night we got pizza. We are thankful for the second refrigerator in the basement. We used both grills (very large!) and the owner kept extra propane on hand in case we ran out. The shelter house by the lake was very nice.
Be aware that cell phone coverage with AT&T is hard to get so it is a good idea to have WiFi calling on your phone. All in all, we definitely got more than our moneyās worth this vacation.
Thanks to John for going to a lot of work to have lots of things to do and keeping the place in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLake Diane Retreat was a perfect place for reuniting our family of 3 generations, coming from North Carolina, Illinois and Michigan.
The home gave us plenty of room for cooking meals and grilling outdoors. The luxury of 2 refrigerators was ideal for our group of 11. Dinners on the balcony were delightful. Game nights upstairs or downstairs provided great entertainment. Counting all the lighthouses in and around the home was a challenging and rewarding activity! And the sleeping accommodations were comfortable.
The lake was beautiful and many sunrise and sunset kayak trips were made as well as pontoon boat cruises around the lake and a pedal boat adventureā¦all conveniently available at the property. The sandy beach area and sandy lake bottom at the shore exceeded our expectations. The indoor pool was ideal for our little ones (ages 3-1/2 and 8) and for spirited volleyball for the adults. Badminton and making sāmores over a campfire were also enjoyed on the spacious lawn.
The owner quickly responded to our questions during our stay.
Thank you, John & Lisa, for sharing your beautiful...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe came to Lake Diane Retreat to celebrate my 70th birthday with our children and grandchildren. The house was spacious and clean. All 11 of us ages 4-72 could spread out into our own section of the house. We used the kayaks and canoe frequently, but we really enjoyed the pontoon boat we rented from John. All of us could fit on the boat and we took relaxing tours of the lake as well as fishing adventures. Our youngest grandchildren enjoyed playing in the sand on the beach and wading into the water.
We enjoyed meals on the deck using the grill near the house and at the water's edge at the pavilion using the grill down there. There was also plenty of seating to eat inside if the weather won't allow for outdoor dining.
The indoor pool was great for the entire family. It is chilly, but once you get moving you adjust. We enjoyed several games of water volleyball. I must say having a bathroom right near the pool is a great idea.
This house is roomy, well stocked, contains activities for all ages, and sits in a beautiful setting...
