Checked in around 4 o'clock
Lady at front desk told me room was ready and then said it wasn't cleaned yet.
Reassigned to another room... then told me it wasn't ready.
Asked if I would be willing to be on the second floor with the upgraded view.
Agreed to proposition. Room wasn't cleaned...
She said she found one that is ready to go... hands card and map and it is second floor facing the parking lot. Well so much for upgraded view for the inconvenience (side note first floor has sliding doors and a small patio type area second floor comes with non of those and funky smell).
Closet was missing its ironing board (knowing I would need on in the morning), I asked the cleaning crew if they had any extras and they said they would bring on right up. After an hour of waiting in the room nobody came so I left to head into town for dinner.
When I returned still no ironing board (4 hours later). Went back down to front desk and asked for an ironing board. I was told one would be right up. 45 min later a cleaning crew member came in with something that resembled a ironing board that was about half way opened. She said "Here is your ironing board, I couldn't get it to closed, sorry bout that"
Finally climb into bed after a long day of travel and the check in shenanigans to find that the "luxury sheets" have been used so much that they are now textured (balling and getting thin) with with holes the size of a nickel or better in them. The door front to the closet dresser feature was falling off so I went ahead an remounted the front as a favor.
Next morning climbing in to the shower and oh it has hand pump body wash, conditioner, and shampoo dispensers instead of individual bottles. Last time I used one of those was an RV park shower facility. I am all about decreasing waste, so though far from "Resort and Spa" experience, I was not necessarily against it, until oh.. NO Shampoo in the dispenser.
I utilized the half broken ironing board and Econo-Iron and packed my stuff for the quickest exit possible. While waiting to check out another individual staying at this facility had ate dinner and was shocked at the bill from the restaurant the night before. Apparently the person who rang them up thought they deserved an extra large tip and had added the dinner total line to the total with tip line together equating to a dinner for two with two drinks for over hundred dollar dinner. After much conversation and apologize the lady was refunded the over charge. They did not offer to cover the total bill or anything beyond adjusting the mistake with a kind of oops mistakes happen kind of attitude.
I was going to be in the area another night and thought that if the first night was worth while I would make it a second... nope packed it up and went up to another Choice Hotel on the north end of town which...
Read moreI normally don't like to write bad reviews, but our stay at Gaia Hotel ruined my family's nice vacation. We were coming off of a long, 7-hour drive, and we were hoping to check into our room upon arrival. We got there at 4:45pm [check-in starts at 4], and we were told that our room was not ready yet and to wait in the lobby for 30 minutes. While a bit irritated at first, we agreed that there wasn't really anything we could do until our room was cleaned. However, while we were waiting in the lobby, the staff continued to check in other people into their rooms, without giving us an explanation as to why people arriving after us were getting checked in. At 5:30, we checked back in with the front desk to see if our room was ready, only to find out that it still wasn't ready and that they didn't even call anyone to see when our room was going to get cleaned. We asked to get switched into a lower priced room because at this point, any room was better than no room. The lady said that she could accommodate our request, but she would not be able to offer us a refund on our more expensive room because "she didn't know how to." Meaning, we had to pay for the more expensive while getting assigned to a cheaper room. We waited until 6pm and at this point, we were considering finding another hotel. A 1.5 hour wait for a room? Even though we were supposed to be able to check in 2 hours ago? They made no effort during our whole wait to reassure us or even check on our room or tell the cleaning staff that we had been waiting for 1.5 hours already. Finally, we asked the front desk staff to get the manager, and we were told she was going to walk to the room to see when it would be ready. When the manager came, it seemed like she was intentionally trying to avoid answering our questions by walking away from us. We finally checked in at 6:30.
To address the cleanliness of the room, which was supposedly being cleaned during our 1.5 hour wait in the lobby, it was shocking. Upon first glance, the bed was made, the towels were folded, which is nice. However, there were cobwebs by the lamp, and the shower curtains had mold on them. The first thing we did was sanitize the surfaces, only to find our wipes to be stained yellow or grey. We were completely beat at this point, and we knew that the front desk was going to be useless if we complained.
To reiterate, I NEVER write bad reviews, but I'm hoping this review will save another family from staying at this...
Read moreBeen a GAIA Customer over 10 years of Fishing Trips and this is a "LAST TIME" for me. to Book this Hotel.
DAY #1 Upon Check-in went to the Room and there were NO Towels in the Bathroom, no water cups nor coffee cups in the room. Went to the House phone in the room which had NO DIAL TONE to call the front desk for room supplies.
Had to use my cell phone to call the front desk and pressed # for reservations waited for 20 rings and NO ANSWER. Then tried the number again dialed 0 for operator and waited for 20 more rings then "Hung-Up".
SO now I walk to the Front Desk and greeted by the 2 Clerks and asked if they were having PHONE problems? They stated that the were working Fine. I explained my two cell phone calls with no answer, and the clerk said sorry, "they had forgot to turn the Hotel switch board back on". When she hit the button the Phone began to ring.
I then related that the "room phone in #177, was not operating and had "NO Dial Tone". She related she would notify Housekeeping to bring towels and Cups and advise Maintance to Check out the phone..
Day #2 Left the room for a "FLOAT Fishing Trip" at 8 am and returned at 5:30 PM. Went to the Room and it was "CLEAN with Fresh Towels and Linen. Was Very Nice.. But still no telephone service, hope we don't need 911 service because phone is still dead.
Day#3 Left the room for another day of Fishing and when we returned home the Room had NOT BEEN ENTERED, CLEANED or serviced in any manner. Went to the Front Desk and there was no one available, waited for 7 minutes and a New Customer came in Register. Still no attendant at the Front Desk. A couple of minutes passed and a Gentleman appeared and asked have you been waiting long? Told him the room number and related that the room was not cleaned or made up or any clean towels. He replied that we were leaving tomorrow, and I informed him we still needed room service. He ask why we didn't call and He would have contaced Housekeeping. Told Him the The Telephone in #177 was still out and Please give me some towels and I received the Towels and he was kind enough to throw in roll of Toilet Paper. SO MUCH for housekeeping and Telephone Service at the Gaia.
YOUR ARE VERY FORTUNATE THAT THERE WAS NO NEED FOR THE USE OF THE TELEPHONE 911- FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL OR FIRE AT ANY TIME DURING OUR STAY.
GAIA HOTEL has been going down hill in the last couple of years and I feel it is time to seek other Accommodations in the Anderson...
